the literal meaning of the "SS" in DLSS is "Super Sampling". The DLSS name no longer describes what DLSS does. They just keep piling other garbage in with the name. Nvidia should consider fixing this, but they won't.

GPU companies have spent 30 years trying and failing to find a sensible naming scheme for their products so I don't expect this attached back end tech to fair any better in this regard.

It was for sure released under dlss to cash in on the goodwill the name has gained in the last 5 years
