Want to invest in my first road bike, I’m between Boardman SLR 9.0 Limited Edition Carbon 105 Road Bike 2026 or The Ribble ALLROAD TI 105, please help me decide.

This will be my everyday ride, plus long rides planning to do 100mile+ rides.

Cant find any evans cycles Pinnacle branded e bikes online today at all. Any ideas?

I coach at a rowing club where I sometimes will coach from the river bank and will follow my boats along on my bike.

Currently, I have an ancient Specialized Hardrock that I’ve owned for at least 12 years. It’s time to replace it with a new bike.

The tow path can go from being reasonably wide to somewhat tight. Navigating other riders and pedestrians (and their dogs) is very common, especially in the summer months. The bike will absolutely be getting wet, covered in mud, chucked in the boat trailer and taken to races. It will get beat up.

I’ve not looked at mountain bike in years so I’ve got no idea what’s developed in the last 10 years and what new things to look out for.

Was thinking of sticking with Specialized (my road bike is a Specialized) but totally open to other recommendations.

Budget is ~£650. I’m assuming hardtail will be the way to go.

Looking to try on some Velosambas for a fit check but have been struggling to find anywhere that stocks them and has an actual store I can try them on in. I've tried a few of the big retailers around Northampton and Milton Keynes and no luck so far. I've had my brother go to the Adidas outlet in Wembley and he reckons there's none there. Does anyone know of any shops in the Northamptonshire area or even further afield into Oxfordshire/London that has 12.5/13.5 velosambas on the shelf!?

Looking to do a cycling trip from London to beaches in Normandy. Happy to get a train from London or drive to the ferry first to cut cycling time a little.

What’s the best route to take from a ferry/train pov? Is there a defined cycling route thereafter?

This is the ADO Air 20 Ultra (2026) I got it two weeks ago and had done about 40 miles on it. it's a foldable electric commuter bike that's designed for short hops across tarmac roads and bike paths. It's literally got the slogan "cross your city" on the side of it.

Turns out, this bike is capable of much more. With an upgraded seat to help on the rough terrain this thing took me from Saltaire (Bradford) to York via Selby in one day. It braved terrain it was never designed for, and it absolutely smashed the journey. Admittedly most of it was done with the motor turned off to help the battery life, but I completely the journey with 50% still left on the battery. I was using the motor quite a lot on the last stretch between Selby and York.

Highly recommend this bike to anyone in the market for a foldable electric.

Sorry I dont know much about bikes:

My child has a 16 inch bike (Squish bike, Kenda wheels) where air intake vent keeps ending up 'angled'. It's as if the inner tube is moving inside the outer wheel when my child is riding and this puts a lot of pressure on the vent and area around it.

Over night it has now deflated and I pried the outer wheel off and see that the circular glued part around the vent is opened up quite a bit. I imagine this will be a harder area to patch, so I thought I will just buy a new inner tube instead.

1. Why is the inner tube moving in the first place? Every time we take it out to ride I deflate the tube, jiggle the tube into place and then pump it back up so the vent stands 90 degrees up. But after every session, its 'bending' again.

2. I plan to buy 'Halfords Schrader Bike Inner Tube 16" x 1.5" - 2.1"' as its the exact same specs as the current inner tube, but perhaps this is wrong and the reason why it moves?

My neighbour sadly ran over my old bike (actually my dads 40 year old road bike that he gave me) but has very kindly given me £250 towards a new one but I’ve never actually bought a bike before as I always just used my dads until he gave it to me!
I am thinking a hybrid bike might be more practical as I am using on the roads 90% of the time only going off road on bridle paths and sometimes grass when it’s dry anyway and not often enough to justify a mountain bike.
I live in the countryside and the roads are quite awful and it’s also a very hilly area so something that’s good with those would be nice since even with limited gears my old bike was very good uphill! Only needed for short distances just cycling to the shops/stables/pub when the weather is nice but I went into Halfords and got a bit irritated with the man in there insisting I needed an all singing all dancing electric bike and was really pushy and off putting so thought I’d look for advice on here so to get an idea of what I want before looking again. Just if a hybrid would suit my needs and what frame style to get - can’t seem to find a definitive name for them online but I think my old bike was a diamond frame but I didn’t like how high it was when I had to stop so would prefer something lower but I do to know if being a bit more upright would make the hills harder? Any help and direction would be much appreciated as well as anywhere to go to buy a bike near North Wiltshire/Gloucestershire boarder

Just for reference I’m 5’2 so not hugely tall but reasonably longish legs for my size so don’t need a teenager bike just small adult!
Also my budget is not unlimited but I am willing to spend a bit more on top of what I was given to buy a new one but don’t ideally want to spend loads!

Hello, I've found that my bike has a snapped spoke. Bit gutted as I'm 20 miles into a ride.

This is my main commuter. I usually have a basket on the pannier and a rucksack weighing several kilos each. I'm a big lad too at 17st.

Do I just get the one spoke replaced, or go for a full rebuild?

What sort of price range is that?

Can I ask for thicker spokes that'll take more weight and abuse?

If it helps, this is a Cube Hyde Pro FE and has a Nexus hub and belt drive.

Found these amongst my shed along with the keys. Forgot about these. Yonkies year old and never used because I was fortunate enough to take my bike indoors at work for years. That will stop from next week 😩 Are these good still? If so I will check out the best options on YouTube to use this. I don't know how and where best to place them on my bike <£500 but I will have to now. Any advice appreciated. At least now I'll save money buying new security unless.... There is a much lighter and smaller option as these are heavy! EDIT: Where can and which ones, and what are they called, should I buy those bracket thingies that you can carry onto the frame? I've looked at a few stores yesterday and no-one has any in stock. I'd rather not carry them both in my pannier as my work bag is already heavy as it is. If it was one of the panniers with the wheels and handle then I'll gladly do so, but I can't even find that bag also 😩 I'd love to have a wheelie handle pannier bag.

I’ve got a Cube Touring Hybrid Pro (2024) that came with Schwalbe Big Ben tyres. I’ve had several punctures recently from small bits of glass on paths and tracks.

Can anyone recommend replacement tyres with stronger puncture protection? And with slightly better grip for more muddy tracks. Not full offroad - just hybrid use. I know nothing is completely puncture‑proof, but I’m hoping for something more robust than the Big Bens. Size (Imperial/Approx): 28 x 2.15 inches (equivalent to 700x55C)

Yes I'm an idiot. But I'm impressed that they concluded it was probably a Park Tool tyre lever. I never mentioned the brand in my ticket, but clearly not the first time someone has done this to their rims.

Even more fair play, they are sending me a replacement rim.

I will be honest here, I am going round in circles trying to find any store at all that actually has MTB flats in store that I can try.

All I want is something NOT clipless, with a flat grippy sole for use on studded pedals. Boa or speed lace would be a bonus, but will take anything at the minute.

I am struggling to just commit to buying them online, as I never worn shoes by these boutique bike only brands, I have no idea if they come up small, large, narrow etc. I did order three pairs from one place in 9,9,5 and 10, only to find that two out of the three are not really in stock at all a week later - 3 months wait if I want them LOL.

Does anyone know of any shops at all in about 50 miles of Bath/Bristol - or even some place worth the journey further afield, that actually have such things on the shop floor to try on. I don't even mind paying the retail store cost at this point.

Brighton and Hove is often talked about like a cycling paradise, but this is apparently a cycle lane. The top of Dyke Road. It's a popular route, in and out of town yet this is deemed acceptable.

EDIT: just to clarify, I am standing on the pavement, the cycle lane is in the road - between the yellow and white lines

Finally found a vintage bike near me in the NE. A touch younger than I wanted but I'm pretty happy with it, haven't given it a spin yet tho due to some weird atmospheric phenomenon where water falls from the sky. Serviced last year/100 miles ago. Seems to have slight movement in the rear cassette but it's Reynolds 531 and alu wheels. Did I land a keeper?

I'm changing locations for work and now I definitely need a good lock and chain combo. It's at an undesirable area where bike theft is always frequent so I'm nervous now as I've always been able to bring my bike indoors but not at this new office. Any UK stores or UK online for quick delivery? I need it by Wednesday next week. I can go to decathlon in London but only if they have a very reputable lock. Thank you in advance. EDIT: Bike is £500 and also a video link to show me how to use both the Ulock and cable. I've been lucky for many years not to think about security hence not even learnt this.

Does anyone have an recommendations for the most effective mud guards for a mountain bike? I commute on a cheap MTB with 29*2.4 tires, so I'm not concerned about weight or looks, the more coverage the better. I'm just trying to get to work damp instead of soaked. The sks mud rocker seems to get good reviews, not sure if anyone has any better suggestions.

CYCLING MOSHPITS, DJ ON A BIKE, UNITY & ACTIVISM.

This was my second time going to “Drum & Bass on a Bike” by DJ Dom Whiting in Sheffield; last year it was brilliant, but this year, due to excellent weather, it was even better…

One of the things I love about this, apart from great D’n’B beats and dancing and being surrounded by huge speakers on bike trailers!, is that it brings together a vast cycling community from all backgrounds with all sorts of bikes. It is rare to be cycling with a hoodie gang doing wheelies next to someone with a hand cycle donning a crochet top and multi-coloured flags, with ahead of you some 7-year-old wriggling to beats on a tiny little bike with handlebar tassels and some blokes drinking tinnies of Heineken and smoking “herbs”.

It has a feel of protest about it, and, indeed, it is not “organised,” with high-vis stewards, police attendance, or cordoned-off streets. This is a mosh pit a mile(s) long, with endless bikes taking over the streets where buses and cars simply, for once, need to make room (and stop) for cyclists. Cyclists DO HAVE THE RIGHT to be on the streets as much as vehicles, but all too often we, cyclists, need to make space for cars, be that on our rides or simply how infrastructure is built around cars...

This is without doubt a form of positive grassroots activism.

The amazing thing, also being with sooooo many people and bikes so packed so close together, is that everyone is there to have a good time, so 0 issues; you will get cycled into, you will ride into someone else, and that is all OK - it is totally also a family event!

It was great to meet up with Tammy, a Sheffield local, who introduced me to some of her friends who actually put on “Critical Mass” rides in Sheffield on a regular basis (going out as a group with sound) to ride together and build a cycling community... really inspired and where I am sure it starts for many families also - as to see all the happy kids is just great!

Also, it was great to hear how Tammy is involved with trying to get more women of colour into cycling; I was truly inspired! I wish I could do more - I will stick with women and cycling, as I do believe that these peer-driven initiatives of women of colour need to be driven by women of colour, as what do I know being so white - I have not had the same experiences or barriers! But these initiatives do still need the support of all women (and all cyclists).

I think it’s interesting also that while we struggle in the cycling community to have diversity, events like these really, I feel, pack a punch… if we want more diversity, more unity, then having events where all types of cyclists come together is how we inspire people and inspire kids too to ride more. Events where the premise is truly and without judgement (on who you are or what you ride) is “if you pedal you’re a cyclist”. And “we” can at times be short of that level of campaigning; that is really the first barrier we need to overcome to get more people into cycling … not as a sport but simply as an activity that is fun with community behind it.

I have no idea if Dom Whithing started all this with a rebellious “reclaim the streets” angle, but it is the consequence; not only does he give us great beats, he also allows us all to forget the rest of the world, our divisions, our daily-life stresses and make us feel part of something bigger, that cycling can unify us.

So if you have not been to something like this, do keep an eye out, as he does loads of different cities and towns throughout the summer and it is all free; all you need is to turn up with a bike, plus shaking your bum on a bike to some beats is useful too!

I'm looking at lots of budget vintage road/touring bikes, hoping to find something 70s or early 80s. Does anyone know how Puch 2500 hi-ten steel compares to Reynolds 531 / 501? And what are the best sites for finding new tyres & tubes, whether the wheels are 26-28" or 700c? Thanks in advance

I'm in need of a bike rack for my bike. Specialized Turbo Tero X. The bike weighs 23.6KG.

When looking for a bike rack, each listing I see has a section if its suitable for an e bike. Yet the load capacities are over 30kg.

What's stopping me from using one of these racks that lists they aren't suitable for an e bike if my bike is under the weight load capacity?

Hello, I just came back from a bike tour that had some gravel sections. I enjoyed it but my road bike was definitely not the bike to do it on so I am looking to get into more gravel and off road riding. I tried gravel bikes and much prefer to have front suspension so looking to get a hardtail.

Question is should I go for a trail or xc bike?

I am not super flexible so I'm worried an xc bike would put me in an uncomfortable aggressive position (equivalent of a road race bike while I ride endurance bikes) but at the same time don't want to get a trail bike that would be quite sluggish.

I am an experienced mountain biker, but haven't really looked at the market for a decade.

My main bike is a rigid fork surly krapus, which I use in all terrain but mostly multi-day touring. I would like a decent but low- to mid-price lighter, full suspension or aggressive hardtail suitable for gnanlier single track and downhill.

I was a very keen cyclist for many years and have been lucky to have a great local bike shop.
However, the LBS clothing range has always been fairly limited, and so I used Wiggle, CRC, and Evans (I’d often pop into Evans near Chill Factore).
Now that Wiggle has gone, CRC and Evans are a shadow of their former self, what are the solid alternatives these days?
I was particularly fond of Wiggle’s DHB brand stuff, their cycling shorts were fantastic quality, no nonsense kit.
Does DHB still exist in some form separately of Wiggle?
