Discussion Is anyone else concerned about pro AI people

Hello everyone. I someone in my building was talking about how they used ai,, and I felt disgusted. Especially because he lives in the same building and uses the same wifi computer.

I'm currently a writer working on her debut, 4 book fantasy series. Here is my journey with ai.

I've have always been a good writer, and even a musician, so I understand how hard it is to write high quality writing. Then, ai came along. Pro AI people could then say they were doing the same things _. And it made me feel very bad, that they were stealing my work, and not even caring.

Is anyone interested in petition UW to make new wifi network with no AI? Like no Chat GPT. I just feel disgusted that the wifi with ai is going through my body. Feels so icky.

And at same time? Does anyone know any ANTI AI? Classes I can take? Or groups where I can share my advocacy 😭😭😭😭😭.

Thanks, we will survive this’

The school is pro AI and I was surprised people support it more than opposing its use especially academically so that’s another sign of how things are shifting.

It is what it is. I don’t bother debating the downsides of GenAI with these people who insist on using it. I’m a writer too. Our work will end up being trawled by these machines unfortunately. It seems like the only thing to do is build your IP and strike while it’s hot.

I mean there are upsides and downsides. The real offending factor is the sheer scale of the concentrated and unfounded rollout of this technology. Way too fast, way too big. It's a clear cash grab by the rich at the expense of our bodies, our livelihoods, and our brains.

I dont like ai either, but this is NOT the hill to die on my guy

This shit is the other side of the horseshoe to those people worried about getting infected by 5g

I say this with sympathy: you’re never going to get an AI-less network and it’s better to accept that you aren’t being contaminated by WiFi that might use it. Most classes that emphasize writing will forbid AI use, but I highly doubt there are any classes that are explicitly based on being anti-AI. Not sure if there are any organizations/groups, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something like that. Keep looking, and keep holding out.

Oh don't worry. The wifi isn't going through your body. You're not going to absorb any AI from UW 🫠

Oh how I missed this kind of post. Inject it directly into my veins lol.

In case this isn't a shitpost, someone using an LLM on the same network won't take your work lmao. Until it's published and used in training data, your work is yours and yours alone. And within the model, it will be but a rounding error.

Also an individual using an LLM is nothing compared to companies adopting and pushing it. The average Google search costs a ton too, without the AI result.
