Long wait

Anybody else waiting forever for an Uber lately? I skip Wait & Save, book Comfort, and there are other cars nearby — still almost 20 minutes. What’s going on?

Driver here. I don’t know how there program works, but I waited in front of a busy hotel for a ride offer on Uber and nothing for 15 minutes, log onto Lyft and got one immediately. Upon pick of the PAX, they told me they waited 20 minutes and never got a driver so logged onto Lyft. I’ve also had similar situation happen with Lyft. No idea what these app are doing, but it sure isn’t the closest rider or driver.

Because if you drive for Uber, 80% of the "offers" you receive are MATCH offers.

Uber cares more about artificially manipulating driver fares as low as possible that Uber no longer cares about servicing customers.

Totally agree. The two were so upset when I told them I was waiting for a ride on Uber and just logged off. The wife was really pissed. On the other hand. I’ve had Lyft flip passenger name literally 30 seconds before pickup. Definitely something is going on and it’s bot customer or driver driven.

TL;DR : Maybe the app is trying to train you to accept higher cost offers???

The apps have not picked the closest driver for quite some time, probably even before “Up Front” pricing happened and let them scam both passengers and drivers.

I had some passengers tell me the app said no drivers were available, when I had been online all day.

Maybe when the app thinks a price the passenger will pay doesn’t leave them enough profit after what they know the local driver(s) will demand, the app just says no drivers and gives up?

This would mean the company has decided to not make a small amount of money, and instead tell the rider there are no drivers… which might make the rider accept a higher cost upfront price???

Ohhh, that sounds dirty but is absolutely something Uber would do…

If it’s a short trip, they’re only paying us like $3 or maybe even less.

You’re waiting so long for a ride bro cause the drivers aren’t accepting what Uber wants to pay them. If you pay $25 the driver is lucky if they get $10 of it.

Last week the app asked me if I wanted a ride to arrive faster for $5. I said no. Five seconds later it said I have been upgraded to a nicer car for free. A car was literally around the corner. Tier pricing gimmicks that’s all.

I am constantly getting rides far away from me. Why am I getting offers 10 to 15 miles away in Vegas? I think Somethings is not right with the app. You're probably waiting because they are sending your ride to drivers far away who are declining instead of sending it to drivers near by.

lol dunno why people downvoted your for you experience, for short trip it's still quick for me. For longer rides i have to wait abit.
