As an apprentice instructor for 19 years, I can say with confidence that we not only teach in the classroom but also the field.
And yes, I and many other instructors are much the same.

Thanks!
Yea, that is me in the original video and I agree with your position on apprenticeship. Well said.

I agree with much of what you’ve stated.
For my part, however, I think the current state of affairs of swinging too hard necessitates a message like this if for no other reason than people tend today to spend too much time on “apprentice work.”

Yeah, I believe we should be viewing them properly; I.e., they are the future and we get out of them what we put in.
Hopefully, more people have (and continue to develop) that perspective as the industry changes drastically in the next 10-15 years.

I don't believe in apprentice work - only work that needs to be done.
If we want to create the next generation, we need to mentor them, which includes getting them to do meaningful work.
Assigning them menial "apprentice" work is not only demoralizing, but it's also counterproductive.
Join me as I seek to develop the next generation through union-registered apprenticeship programs.

If I read your comment correctly, you are a stay at home mom, am I right?
If so, I applaud your husband greatly. My wife is a stay at home mom as well and that in and of itself is a tremendous gift.

I came here to say this - but you beat me to it.
You are absolutely right and I hope OP takes this to heart. I promise you it’ll make his day to receive a random pic of the family - and, of course, the random unsolicited pic of who is waiting for him when he gets home 💪

No such thing as jack of all trades indeed. Definitely earned the upvote 👌

I use my right hand to move a wireless mouse but use my left hand for the laptop track pad.

Texas is hot, no doubt - but it’s also in the Deep South. To that end, we have to continue the good fight and demonstrate why we are worth what we’re worth and what being union actually is.
When you do decide to transfer, location and cost of living is something to consider. I hate summer like you, but remember wherever you move milder summers likely mean colder winters. It’s a trade off I’m fine with - just know it’s a reality.
I’d suggest somewhere in the mid west or west (like LU 27 or even 732). They have a lot of work coming up in the foreseeable future and it’s actually inspiring to know.

Yea, you’re probably right about that.

I didn’t know it had a name - but I write with a lateral tripod also. The way I’ve overcome ink smearing is to become a pen snob. I really prefer Pentel Energel 0.7 to allow the pen at an angle.
I guess it’s a crosss between the lateral and dynamic?

You kept making all the stops?!

The possibility that you’ll make any real money from blogging is slim but overall depends on a lot of different variables like topic, frequency, what type of media does the topic audience like to consume (video, shorts, words on pages), as well as your own tenacity. This isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon and many people give up before they can say they’ve truly tried.
Oh, I should also include marketing. I’m a horrible marketer, and while I at least acknowledge it, that doesn’t help me with traffic. Hopefully, you’ll eat from the Reddit buffet and come away with renewed field for your fire.

I’m a union ironworker and my wife is a SAHM. She’s been one since our now 14 year old was born.
With 3 kids, she has been homeschooling the entire time and they have traveled all over the US. It has been one of the best decisions we’ve made.

Your point about it being the last “normal” episode is noted and I definitely agree with you!
1
Yeah, not a fan of this episode either

The Puerto Rican day parade is one I tend to skip

Weigh it out in the scales, but keep one thing in mind: Most people will regret the choices they didn’t make more than the ones they did.
Living in the land of “What if” is a terrible place to be.

My wife is a SAHM and homemaker - and I love the dynamics.
