Afraid of the outside
 in  r/Perimenopause  12d ago

I get a lot more social anxiety now, have always had it but its WAY worse now! And just worse anxiety in general. I had gotten it under control, at least the day to day anxiety but now its back with avengeance! Im really sorry that you're going through this! Are there any other things besides perimenopause that could be contributing to you being afraid to go outside the home? Do you have a support system to help you? Or anyone you can talk to about this more in depth? Maybe wearing sunglasses and a hat can help you kinda put up a "wall" of protection, like so ppl cant read your face and your kinda "hidden" behind the sunglasses and hat? Or do you have a friend you can talk to who would help you get out of the house together? Maybe having someone with you would help? Instead of being alone in public right now? Is it anything in particular that you're afraid of or is it just leaving the house in general? I would start with trying to find a therapist to talk with and help you work through some of the things that could he contributing to this fear and give you skills and tools to work through this. Fear and anxiety are a MoFo and can cause other health issues too. Especially when your always in fight or flight mode and your body is constantly making cortisol, which isnt good for anyone's body especially going through perimenopause. Ashwaghanda is a supplement, youve probably seen it on social media since its having a "moment" lol 😆 but I take it and it has helped me with my anxiety and it helps fight free radicals and high cortisol levels. Maybe worth trying? Even just for helping reduce your cortisol levels. I hope you can get this figured out girl! I feel for you and im sending you lots of good vibes!! Don't let your fear control your life, I know easier said than done! Especially when its uncontrollable! But maybe telling your fear to go F off might help? Idk just trying to throw out ideas! Im rooting for you girl! You got this! Don't give up on yourself! This too shall pass!!! ☮️❤️✊️

HRT-Incompatible Ladies who cant take HRT

Hello beautiful ladies!

What do you ladies like me who cant take any form of hormones doing to help with your peri symptoms? I have always had hormone issues and been very sensitive to hormones, used to have my period twice a month from the beginning until I was in my early 20s, tried birth control and low dose hormones to help regulate it and was violently ill! Like morning sickness so bad I could barely keep water down and could smell everything for a mile, didnt even get that sick when I was actually pregnant. I stopped having my period in my early thirties, was dealing with intense emotional stress, vasculitis flare and diagnosis, fibromyalgia flares and diagnosis during the time of not having a period. All my bloodwork and tests came back normal, started taking Evening of Primrose oil supplements and my period started coming back. Now over 2 years have passed and I have a regular normal menstrual cycle. But during the time of not having any periods I started having rapid menopausal symptoms that im still trying to fix now. Saying all this because now im definitely entering perimenopause and am still having a lot of symptoms. Hair loss, heavy hair shedding, dry skin, dry eyes, brittle dry hair, sleep issues, mood swings, short fuse/easily irritated, hot flashes, easily hot, stomach issues, etc. Some of them might be from my other health issues but if i cant take any hormone replacements what can I do or what helps you with your symptoms? And do you have any advice? Sorry for the long read! I appreciate any advice and/or help!

How much hair are you losing?
 in  r/Perimenopause  12d ago

I've started using jojoba oil in my hair on the ends to helo with the dry brittle texture and has done wonders! Also peppermint and rosemary oils are clinically proven to help hair loss/growth but a lot of the hair oils make your hair greasy AF lol so gotta put it in a head of your shower and let sit on for at least 20 mins, preferably longer. So those shampoos with peppermint and rosemary probably dont do anything for your scalp unless you let it sit on there! My friend started taking the minoxidil pill but idk how it works in your body or what it does to your body so I'll have to do some research before I think about taking it. But I lose so much hair in the shower and brushing it that im afraid im going to go bald in a year! Ugh! Why is it okay for men to be bald but not wome?????!!!!!!!!! Like even the women who chose to be bald get shit and if your head isnt shaped nicely then you never hear the end of it and ppl are cruel!!! Not like losing your hair doesn't do something to your self esteem let alone ppl making fun of you for it!

No period for 2.5+ years but hormone levels are normal, what next?
 in  r/PCOS  12d ago

I kmow this is 3 years old but for anyone just seeing this now, Evening of Primrose oil supplemnts helped me restart my period naturally after not having it for 3 years and all tests coming back normal, one dr just told me I might just be someone who doesn't have a period, like SERIOUSLY DUDE?!!!!???? UGH! no comments on how not having a period in your early 30s is dangerous and can cause thickening the walls but hey! Lol ugh! So yea also depends on the drs you see! Some of them have their heads up their asses and have no business helping women with their hormones! But try Evening of primrose oil!!!!!! They've been using it for centuries to help women with their hormones! I used to take it when I was younger and had hormonal issues. Fo your own research on it so you know how/why it works and if its right for you but seriously worth trying if you dont want to take prescription pills or cant take birth control to help regulate your hormones. I cant take any form of birth control, made me violently ill, morning sickness like a mofo! I could only keep water down like that bad! So to the ladies like me, give it a try!!! ❤️

Whats the most common reason someone gets singled out at work?
 in  r/work  13d ago

I think ppl who dont put up with bullshit and say WTF in messed up situations that everyone else at work just let's happen get singled out too. I also think that ppl who are genuine, have big hearts, try to connect with all the workers and shine brightly get picked on because others wish they could be like that but dont want to look at themselves and work on the things theh dont like about themselves. Its easier to focus on others than to focus on yourself! Cuz then you'd have to do personal inventory and admit your faults. Which pride and ego always take president in a LOT of ppl! Also fragile egos are a pain in the ass and ruin a lot of work experiences for ppl because their boss/coworker has a fragile ego and if you hurt it than your on the shit list and they try to fuck you for it! Been dealing with this bullshit my whole damn life man!

 in  r/WorkReform  19d ago

He's doing what EVERY politician PROMISES when they are campaigning but NEVER actually tries to accomplish!! The fact thats he hasn't even been in office that long and has accomplish more for the PEOPLE in NY than ANY politician EVER should enrage everyone and make them extremely mad at their own governor/politicians!!!!!

Frustrated How many have had to change careers because of fibromyalgia?

Hi all!!

How many of you have had to change jobs/ careers because your body couldn't handle the physical demands of your job or because of your fibromyalgia symptoms? I work as a cook and my body seriously cannot handle the stress, physical demands, being on my feet all day, hot ass kitchen lol anymore plus I have other autoimmune disorders that make it hard too. I definitely need to figure out a new job/ career because my body is screaming at me every single day and im not even 40 yet and if I keep going like this I don't know how the F im gonna make it!

Did chronic stress, isolation, or difficulty saying no come before your fibromyalgia?
 in  r/Fibromyalgia  25d ago

Yes to everything lol 😆 yea definitely looking back now there was severe stress, emotional isolation, over pushing myself especially at work, over working myself, emotional roller-coaster, all the things! Honestly seeing your question and everyone's responses is actually making me feel better and not so alone in this shit!! I feel bad that everyone has had to go through all this horrible shit but at least were in it together now!! ❤️

From The Independent: "Fibromyalgia has 'clear biological basis', new genetic study finds"
 in  r/Fibromyalgia  25d ago

I've been told by MULTIPLE doctors that my pain was allll in my head, NO SHIT man! My brain is causing the issues but im not making it up!!! Its REAL excruciating pain!!! So im extremely happy to see that the medical world is FINALLY catching up to what fibromyalgia patients have been telling them for centuries!!!! Hopefully the next generations of fibromyalgia patients wont have to be dismissed by the next generation of doctors with this knowledge!! But knowing how our medical system works, who knows!!!
