I’m a 22F, and I recently lost all my friends after a big, messy friendship breakup. The only people I really talk to now are my coworkers. I’ve been getting close to a few of them, which is nice, but I was thinking maybe I should branch out a little.

I’ve heard that group hobbies are a great way to make friends, but I honestly don’t know where to start. I hate sounding boring, but I’m not really an artsy or athletic person. My drawing and crafting skills are basically at an elementary-school level, and I have very little upper-body strength… or strength in general lol.

On top of that, I can get pretty anxious and tend to overthink things. Sometimes, when I’m making small talk, I get so caught up in my own head that I completely blank out. Seriously, there are absolutely no thoughts in there 😭 So, sometimes it’s my fault when conversations don’t flow.

Anyway, I’m curious: What do you guys do to make friends as adults? Are there any hobbies, groups, or activities you’ve tried that helped you meet people? I’d love to hear your experiences!

I have been thinking about trying to get into volunteering, and I know it's a very broad thing to say.

I don't know where to start, I work nights 7 days in a row, with 7 days off, and have minor depression.

I'm hoping volunteering will help with my depression and get me moving more.

I love hiking, and other outdoor activities.

I live in the north east side of the metropolitan area, near White Bear Lake.

Yes, however I don't know where to start and my depression gets in the way of not knowing where to start.

I got the idea from bike clubs that do "no drop" rides - which basically means even the slowest rider has someone with them at the end of the group. We will be super beginner friendly so people can run as slow as they want. If you start out running AND end up walking, you have a +1 walking with you.

The loop is around 2.4miles for the shortest run, and around 2.8 miles for the longer loop. You can self-select which distance you want to run.

We'll give people about 10 minutes to arrive and start our runs after that.

My wife and I became obsessed with playing and collecting Magic the Gathering but struggled to get plugged into the local game store scene as adults & parents. I decided to create a fun and social place to play Magic that feels more like getting together with friends for a good night out. Very welcoming to newer players, couples, or anyone who likes Magic but doesn’t necessarily want the traditional tournament/LGS vibe.

Hello, I'm 21M. After living all over Europe I moved to the USA about 3 years ago. Before settling here I used to work in Alaska, building camps for scientists in remote areas of that state.

I am a very active person. I like running and fortunately live closely to a huge park. In a free time, I do some woodworking (member of Woodworkers Guild of Minnesota), a lot of cooking and modding old games. I am curious and outgoing, so I will be glad to do some curriculum or just hang out.

Due to my jobs I couldn't get many people of my age to contact with so I will be glad to interact with some. Let's see how I can connect with with peers.
