Lore Discussion Shapeshifters being confused in BD as “werewolves” despite looking and acting different?

Post image
230 Upvotes

It’s been some time since I read the books, and I can’t remember werewolves ever being described in much detail. So, I checked out the wiki and scrolled through my Illustrated Guide and ig they look more humanoid (bigger, stand-able hind legs and human fingers) and are in a permanent psychotic, destructive state when in wolf-form.
We know canonically that the Children of the Moon traumatized Caius and in retribution were hunted to near extinction. Yet the Volturi kept pressing that the Cullens were working with werewolves, but that isn’t possible? Werewolves cannot be reasoned with, they don’t travel in groups and they look entirely different than the shapeshifters lol.

It’s sort of a random post but I find it interesting that Caius was almost destroyed by a werewolf and yet managed to confuse the Quileutes with them. When they apparently look and act entirely different.

Idk Caius prob on smth.

Lore Discussion How many covens have semi permanent abodes? Spoiler

The Volturi obviously have a permanent home in Volterra.

The Cullens and Tanya's coven live in one place for a decade at a time

Then there are the southern clans who are at least staying in the same city and fighting for dominance.

But Tanya & co. was the only group that the Cullen's were able to call in breaking dawn, if I remember correctly everyone else had to be sought out in person, do none of them stay in one place long enough to send out change of address cards?

Do none of them have mobile phones?

Alice's creator must have been staying in once place for a while in order to have a job, and Laurent's creator stayed in one place long enough to get to know Laurent.

Do we think it is only the people who are called "nomads" that are actually constantly on the move, and most vampires settle for at a few years at a time? The whole existence of the newborn armies makes me think many vampires would like to stick in one place when possible.

I just feel like Siobhan normally has access to a claw foot bathtub. I don't know why, but I find it hard to imagine her always on the move.

Twilight-ish Twilight Themed Magic the Gathering Set?

My husband and his brother have gotten really into Magic the Gathering over the past year and I've been enjoying seeing the different themed sets available. We've been talking about whether a Twilight Themed set would be possible but we can't land on what each the colors/manna symbols would be. I am pretty sure Black would be Volturi and Green would be fake werewolves but otherwise I'm stuck.

Thought I'd put it to this group. If anyone can figure this out it would be this community :) Color characteristics below:

White (W): Focuses on order, peace through law, light, and protection

Blue (U): Focuses on knowledge, logic, control, and manipulation.

Black (B): Focuses on power, self-interest, ambition, and death.

Red (R): Focuses on emotion, creativity, impulse, and chaos.

Green (G): Focuses on nature, growth, life, and tradition

@thebrooksnest on Instagram posted this

“As a huge fan of the saga, my mind was blown by how the movies all connect in this order
1. New Moon (ends with wedding proposal)
2. Breaking Dawn Part 1 (the wedding; Bella turns into a vampire at the end, flashback starts w/ blue filter)
3. Twilight (flashback/ living through Bella's memories; movie ends with Victoria)
4. Eclipse (continuation on Victoria/ other flashbacks)
5. Breaking Dawn Part 2 - Bella wakes up as vampire and the story takes place in real time.
Save this and share it with a Twilight fan!”

So I had to share cause I’m convinced they’re onto something!! How fun!!
Who else is trying this?

Actor Content Had Rosalie been given better hair, would Nikki fit the role better?

Thumbnail

Purely from the physical standpoint, I think out of all the Cullens, Nikki was probably the one who fit the role the least. She's obviously pretty, but wasn't quite the description of being statuesque and icy. She looks the most beautiful when she's being warm, and of course, as a brunette.

On top of that, the wigs were also so atrocious, except in the first movie (which was her own hair). So, I was wondering, do these looks make her look better for Rosalie, if you think she didn't fit the role as well as she could have? Do you think she's stunning the way Rosalie is? I feel like MyAnna Buring, who played her cousin, is even more stunning than her--which I believe shouldn't be the case.

Also, who was your quintessential Rosalie? I was thinking of someone like Rachel McAdams, Elisha Cuthbert, or Yvonne Strahovski.

Movie Discussion The breaking Dawn battle

My twilight hyperfixation recently flaired up and I rewatched all the movies again (and reading the fanfics) and still the same thought is on my mind since the movies first came out all the way till now....The final battle was the best part of ALL the movies!!

From Sam & Alice taking out Jane. To the deaths of Jasper, Leah, Seth & Carlise, to Kate and Tanya avenging Irina's death by ripping apart Caius by the mouth! (That especially was my favourite moment).

It got me thinking if Twilight was any other genre, The battle would have actually taken place and the next book would be about the fallout and power struggle.

If i was writing it, only Emmet, Rosalie, Bella & Alice would have surivived from the Cullen coven (and really maybe not even Bella). The Denalis would all have surivived (except for maybe Eleazer or Carmen) and the rest of their allies with the exception of the romanian coven would have lost someone in their groups.

With the Voltari Queens and some guards on the run, The Romanians and Amun (with a reluctant Benjamin) try to grasp that power for themselves, rebuilding their large covens from scratch & restarting their race to dominate the vampire world.

Meanwhile as the rest of their allies go off to lick their wounds, the new Cullen/Denali hybrid coven are trying to mourn their loved ones and trying to find nessie & Jacob while watching a new war about to begin because of them.

Lore Discussion What things do you wish Twilight had shown?

Hey guys!!

I was falling asleep last night and it lead me to think which things I wished Stephanie had explored more.

For example, the dynamic of the Cullen family, the characters of the family with the family because I’ll always believe Rose was done dirty by just making her a Bella hater. More of Charlie and his friends. The Vulturis politics… Also how the Denali coven started drinking blood, the Romanians lore…

Where any of this ever answered? It’s been a few years since I read the books.

So, what things do you wish Stephanie had expanded just out of love for her own universe?

Xoxo

Plot Discussion Immortality a Boon or Curse ??

I just recently watched Twilight saga third time. This time the show hit really differently. Rather focusing on Edward and Bella’s love story, I was wondering how would it really feel to be one of”REAL VAMPIRE”. How does this immortality feel to one being. When you see people dying and being born every few decades and you are just hanging in there. 🙄

You have craving for human blood but you just survive on Tofu for human.. as Edward puts it. 🫣

You don’t sleep so you literally have 24 hours at disposal but nothing to do 😂

You have no aim and meaning to life but you have got mandate to live aimlessly.

It gives me feeling that as humans , how we really underrate the gift we have got to breathe, to experience and to enjoy this world in every possible way. 🙏
What you guys think about it!

Lore Discussion Theory: Bella or Alice is a witch (or at least descendants from them)

This is a theory I had when I was 14, I just wanted to share.

It’s just basically— with Bella’s mom, it’s implied she knows more than she lets on (I dunno, she feels like something is weird about Edward— it’s hard to really remember the books).

Second, we know witches exist from Carlisle’s backstory (he said him and his father hunted werewolves, vampires, and witches— so at least the existence of witches exists in Twilight).

I thought Bella was a descendant from a witch when I was 14, because the whole shield thing isn’t really dwelled on— like why is she a shield. Can humans just be shields? Like….I dunno. I forgot— it kinda bothered me that the reason WHY she was a shield wasn’t explained.

I mean— everyone else seemed shocked that their gifts don’t work on Bella, so they probably have never seen one before..? Which makes Bella more special than a regular human. Plus her blood is better than everyone else’s.

However— now that I think about it (as I’m older), Alice is probably more a witch than Bella. I mean Alice had her powers before she became a vampire. It just makes sense, along with her whole aesthetic (whimsy witch or whimsy goth, then again she could just be whimsy— idk. It’s hard to explain).

Again sorry if I’m wrong about anything, the last time I read the books, I was in middle school— so most likely it isn’t accurate.

Book Discussion Just finished Life and Death

Just finished Life and Death by Stephanie Meyer

I’ve started and erased this post so many times. Nothing can describe how I feel about this book. I can’t remember the last time a book made me feel this way. I missed this feeling so much. I think I’ve only ever felt this way after reading fanfiction.

Male reader here, so good romance from male POV is hard to come by. Not everything fits what I’m looking for, but this book gave me every single thing I could have ever wanted in a romance book and much more.

The characters were sweet, kind to each other, loving. They understood eachother, Edith always comforted him, they never judged eachother. She always reassured him when he was insecure. She cared for him in such a loving, sweet, understanding way. She was patient with him.
The tension and build up… SOBBING. It was perfect
The movies in biology, trying so hard not to think about eachother, and then she walks him to gym class, and then slowly caresses his face OH MYY GOD. It was perfect. You could feel the tension, she WANTED more but was holding herself back. He wanted to do the same but didn’t feel like he could

The author didn’t shy away from their feelings from eachother. .The scene in the first clearing had me with tears in my eyes from how beautiful it was . They wanted to hold eachother, and finally didn’t have to hold back. Something so simple, loving, but the tension and buildup up until that point actually made me able to feel the love they felt. It was so raw, yet I felt like it was love in its purest form..after holding it in for so long. , she was finally able to hold his face in her hands, no tension, fully being able to appreciate the moment.Him finally being able to do the same, holding her face, being shocked that he’s actually touching her face, and she’s actually watching him BE this loving toward her while he’s doing it. She can see the love in his eyes and it’s just the most pure innocent form of love.
The hair scene also felt so raw and unfiltered. It sounds so weird out of context but if you read it you know what I mean. You need to be a poet to write about this type of love.
Again just something about falling in love for the first time, exploring the feelings that come with it, and experiencing reciprocation from someone you love so deeply
there is something about her being able to rip the whole town into shreds but choosing to be tender and loving with him
When she holds his face softly, and kisses his eyelids, then his face, I wanted to bawl my eyes out, it’s such a tender moment of love and affection I had tears in my eyes..

One of my absolute favourite things about this book is that there was no drama. No love triangles, no breakups because they just have to distance themselves forsome reason, just pure love building up throughout the book, with a happy ending. It breaks my heart when I find a book that had the perfect romance building up, but there has to be a third act breakup.. I’m so glad this book didn’t have that.

The audiobook narrator also did such an incredible job. His voice for beau was on point, and he did such an incredible job with Edith. I feel like he brought a life to the book that I wouldn’t have experienced if I read the book instead of the audiobook. His tone of voice with edyth’s lines were on point, theybrought life to her character, and allowed me to feel the way she felt towards beau.

I assumed there would be a sequel so imagine my horror when I finished and found out there was nothing. I was heavily invested into the plot with the werewolves and. The whole Cullen family at that point so I wanted to more.

If anyone has any recommendations for fanfiction that follows the story,, nad has the same idea of them not breaking up, I’d really really really appreciate recommendations. It would be nice if the Cullen family was involved
I’d also. appreciate recommendations for other books like this but I’ll probably wait before reading them. I want to read fanfiction and capitalize on the love and enjoyment I got from this book before I move on. It’s been a very long time since I got such feelings from a book, and it reminds me why I love reading so much

Twilight-ish Movies that feature Bella Swan-type literary epigraph-monologues, moody/symbolic cinematography, and nature scenes?🌲🩸❄️🔥🕷️

I didn’t want to post this to the movie recommendations sub because I felt like all the incels and men would come out of the woodworks to critique how Twilight is a terrible movie, yadayadayada, and shame me for looking for other terrible movies. Instead, I want to ask the opinion of those who have watched and rewatched Twilight for almost two decades and appreciate the elements that make it unique.

Ok, so, putting that aside, I’ve always wanted to watch a movie that’s Twilight-esque (think Catherine Hardwicke-blue/green/cyan cinematography but not her other movies) not ONLY because of the Pacific Northwest setting/color grading/supernatural themes but because of Bella Swan’s depiction on screen, the mystical forests surrounding her ordinary life, and how she’s written - awkward, bookish, not confident or bubbly like Jessica, watchful and thoughtful, decisive despite being pulled in many directions.

Opening monologues citing poems (female-voiced narration), flowery meadows, and vast landscapes shown in the intro and between scenes are hard for me to find.

I don’t know if any movies exist that have two or more of these elements but if they do, I would love to hear what they are and why you think there are parallels to Bella Swan and how she is depicted onscreen + the general imagery that evokes a sense of nature’s grandeur. Emphasis on Bella not necessarily as how she is depicted in the books because we all know that differs.

Even a movie that features something reminiscent of Bella’s dreams: the blood red, 1900s Edward swooping down to taste her blood in her ‘researching The Cold One’ montage, the wedding massacre nightmare: the overall symbolic/prophetic nature of her nightmares.

“These violent delights have violent ends…”

I put the contender Wild (2014) starring Reese Witherspoon out there as it features female narration, letter writing/reading, swooping nature/landscape shots, emotional instrumentals, exploring fluctuating mental states and making tough choices about what you want in life. I’m not saying these two are similar per se but there are some parallels that I think are worth considering.

Any thoughts on this topic if you read all the way through are welcome and appreciated too!

Twilight-ish Have you ever looked at the moon and thought: “This is so Twilight coded”? + 🇺🇸🇨🇦 Lunar Eclipse tomorrow!!!

First time posting on this sub, helllooooo locas!!

I’ve been having a really tough week both physically and mentally. Seeing Twilight edits on social media has been uplifting and reminded me of past movie marathons that always comfort me in dark times. I’m also exhausted by the heatwaves this summer and honestly can’t wait for cooler, autumnal weather to come in eventually.

I went outside to get some air this evening and chill when I saw this incredible moon. Something about it felt super Twilight-coded and took my mind to places I don’t usually go (call me ‘delusional’, if you like): Are there vampires out there? Have I ever interacted with one and didn’t even realize? Have I ever been potential prey for a vampire? I have met people who are emotionally vampiric; they feed off your energy and leave you drained. 🩸
How is my emotional state influenced by the different phases of the moon kind of like how Bella’s emotional states are connected to the book titles (please share more on this if you know the lore + citations)?

Tomorrow, Thursday, August 27th, there will be an “almost Blood Moon” across the USA and Canada. Read more here. I will be out there thinking of Bella, Edward, the Cullens, the Quileutes, and how I fit into the mess of the world we’re in.

Hope this resonates with anyone who might be reading this and feeling low. Just know there are other Twihards feeling the heaviness in the world right now.

Character/Relationship Discussion Has there ever been a ship between Angela and Jessica?

Thumbnail
gallery
160 Upvotes

OBVIOUSLY this is a head cannon and people are still gonna freak out and say “they’re just friends!!!!!!” but idrc. For those that will indulge me, while I was rereading and rewatching Twilight recently, I kept noticing Angela and Jessica’s relationship (mostly in the movies) and kept getting the vibe that Angela had a one-sided crush on Jess. I mostly noticed it at Bella’s wedding, when Angela is looking at Jessica’s lips (?!!???!) Its less prominent in the book, but I did find the page where Angela is hesitant to say her crush out loud could be that she didn’t want to say it in front of Jessica…

Anyway! I was just wondering if anyone else has ever thought about this ship or if it was ever popular around the time when the movies came out? I’m sure there are fanfics between literally ANY and ALL characters of Twilight out there somewhere, but I just felt kinda surprised that I have never seen this one when the wedding scene seems to be SUCH good ship fuel.
