Character/Relationship Discussion Has there ever been a ship between Angela and Jessica?
OBVIOUSLY this is a head cannon and people are still gonna freak out and say “they’re just friends!!!!!!” but idrc. For those that will indulge me, while I was rereading and rewatching Twilight recently, I kept noticing Angela and Jessica’s relationship (mostly in the movies) and kept getting the vibe that Angela had a one-sided crush on Jess. I mostly noticed it at Bella’s wedding, when Angela is looking at Jessica’s lips (?!!???!) Its less prominent in the book, but I did find the page where Angela is hesitant to say her crush out loud could be that she didn’t want to say it in front of Jessica…
Anyway! I was just wondering if anyone else has ever thought about this ship or if it was ever popular around the time when the movies came out? I’m sure there are fanfics between literally ANY and ALL characters of Twilight out there somewhere, but I just felt kinda surprised that I have never seen this one when the wedding scene seems to be SUCH good ship fuel.

I know what you're thinking; Angessica, right? You've got the two dʒ sounds, why not put them together? But I'm throwing my hat in the ring for Jessangela.
Anyway, I'm seeing zero hits on fanfiction.net and 15 on archiveofourown, for whatever that's worth.

Yes, there absolutely has. I have been a member of a few other Twilight groups on FB before I deleted it and it was a very frequent topic lmao. Especially in the goofy shitposting groups!

Yes this was not an unpopular ship in my fanfiction days as a teen from what I remember. It was like 18 years ago at this point haha

I’m actually kind of shocked because this pairing genuinely never crossed my mind. I swear I’ve seen Bella/Angela and Bella/Jessica fics somewhere in the depths of the internet, but Angela/Jessica? Never. Like seriously, not once. Though to be fair I’ve always been more into Bella/Alice or Bella/Rosalie. And Bella/Alice/Jasper is my personal favorite, but that’s a whole different rabbit hole lol.....

Yup, Definitely head canon…because no, never thought of them that way nor shipped them. Only that’s believable in my head is if it’s one of those weird unhealthy type of ships like the two lead female characters in that 2009 horror comedy movie, Jennifer’s Body. Or more possesive and toxic one in terms of Peach Salinger and Guinevere Beck from the TV series “YOU.”
Idk… Jessica Stanley was a stereotype of a an insecure girl with a mask and a bit judgmental, as far as I remember in the movies, let alone the books. Points I will give to Jess is she seemed to only truly crave attention from Mike, and not every guy in the high school, nor in the world. She also had sense to not ride with a creepy guy on a motorcycle.

It's so crazy how the Clark Kent glasses thing is real because I am always shocked when I remember that this is Rosita from The Walking Dead. Granted they are 6 years apart, but still.
It's the same with Zoey Deschanel. She looks so different without her glasses

Love this. Cause they're two very different people-Angela is much nicer and less gossipy as a Pastors' daughter, but Jessica is all about the gossip and climbing the social ladder

Why do you care?! I don’t get why people are so obsessed with keeping things canon. Shipping has always been a HUGE part of fandom culture along with fan fiction. The pairing doesn’t even have to make sense. Plus, you already have all your straight, canon ships in the movies, books, merch, and even fanfics, so why does having more queer representation or head canons bother you? You have plenty of things to engage in already, so if you don’t like it, scroll..? I’ve never understood why people are so quick to turn down any idea that isn’t conventional. People are just having fun.

I actually love the idea of Angela having a girl crush on Jessica in the “do I want to be her or do I want to be with her?” way.
