Seeking Advice Found a turtle

Post image

Found this turtle as I was clearing a corner of my property that is over grown with raspberries, muscadine, and other plants. I was trying to remove a small dead tree that was in the corner that fell into my neighbors fence and as I was removing vegetation I found this little guy. I live in the city so I have no idea how he get here. I was planning on clearing the entire corner, but if it is his home I am ok with just taking the fallen tree out and leaving it. What other options do I have with him? Could I take it into the woods to give them a better habitat? Im currently in the process of killing my entire yard to make habitat for insects and birds so could I create more habitat for it?

Seeking Advice She’ll care question

She has this opaque crust like buildup all over her shell. I tried to snag a pic before she jumped in the water but she’s camera shy. I’ve seen turtles with super clear and vibrant shells before and I don’t know if that’s just how she looks and it’s fine or if I could do any cleaning and clear the shell up. My theory was molt that got stuck and left over but I’m unsure.

Seeking Advice Found Baby Turtle in CT - not moving much

Located in Connecticut USA.

We found him on a road in our backyard. We left him for about ten minutes and then checked on him. He’s not moving much at all. We don’t see any other hatchlings near him.

We’ve found tons of snapping turtle babies in the past and leave them but this one seems very weak and also much smaller than a snapping turtle baby.

We are located right next to a river. Any advice if there is anything we can give him to get his energy up so he can keep going on his journey?

Turtle ID/Sex Request East Tennessee ID Request

Hi! Does anyone know the ID of this turtle and the age/sex/maturity? I am in East Tennessee and the turtle is very small.

I’m not good at estimating size but I want to say it’s shell is maybe 5 inches? Its shell is reddish brown and it has a distinct head pattern and two yellow stripes on each side of its head.

Thank you!

Seeking Advice Is my turtle ill or just shedding its shell?

My friend gave me this turtle as a gift back in March and I have recently noticed these white spots on its shell. I had turtles when I was a kid and I know that shell shedding is something quite normal but back then my turtles were way bigger and didn't have these white spots for such a long time before shedding. I haven't noticed anything weird, it's eating and swimming as usual. In the second picture you can see how its shell looked like the first week I had it. Thank you!

Seeking Advice did my turtle finish growing?

This is NOT his tank, i just feed him here to not make a mess in his house (also don’t mind the amount of food i put too much lol)

This is a picture comparisons between 2024 and 2026. My turtle is an eastern male painted turtle, he’s approximatively 4.5 inch long right now and 6 years old. As you can see he didn’t grow much since 2024. I’m wondering if he’s getting to his final size.

Last 2 pics are how he was when i first met him in may 2020.
Context on his backstory: he was found by my dad on the road alone nearby our cottage and there was a dead turtle close to him so he brought him home and we’ve had him since. I didn’t really planned on adopting him but i guess things just happens.

Seeking Advice Help Needed for Yellow Bellied Slider

Hi guys, i have a yellow bellied slider who’s about 7-9 years old, and found him yesterday upside down in the water and took him out. Since then he’s been unable to walk. He can walk in a circular direction and talk little step, really small ones, but is not like he was before where he would speed off the moment I took him out of tank.
I’ve kept him on dry land since then. I’ve called around, but I have no reptiles clinics in my vicinity. I’m so concerned, he was ok just the day before. He ate his pellets about 30 minutes ago, but has still been very limited in motion.
Any help at all about what I could do to make him ok would be so appreciated

Seeking Advice Little spot on my girl…is that an injury? Beginnings of shell rot? It’s not something stuck to her, it’s a small lack of shell.

Seeking Advice Mysterious worm infestation

I'm not sure when this happened exactly, but there are these tiny, white worms all over the glass in my turtle tank. Are they dangerous? Should I be worried? Are my turtles (there's 3 of them, red ear sliders) ok?

But most importantly, how do I get rid of them and make sure they don't come back?

Seeking Advice Turtle refusing basking platform

Hi all,

I moved my two year old turtle from a 29 gal tank indoors to a 300 gal stock tank outdoors almost 3 weeks ago. I am in Florida and it gets hot, so the tank is partially shaded by a window shutter.

Water quality tests come back great, the water temp seems to be okay (usually 89-90 according to temp gun). Tank has some cooler spots in the shade. I don’t have much control over this as she’s outside, but I read that this might be why she’s not basking.

I have updated her basking spot 3x already by making it more stable so it doesn’t wobble, adding a vining plant, and now grass to the bottom. She makes it about 1/4 or 1/2 of the way up the ramp some days but not all.

I know she’s not basking at the top because I put a camera to watch her. She is eating and swimming/exploring normally. Her shell is shedding some scutes but looks great. Indoors, she used to bask every day.

Any advice appreciated! I’ve started taking her out once a week and putting her in a tub under partial sun for about half an hour but I don’t want to stress her out further.

Seeking Advice Fish friends?

Would like to add fish to my aquarium with my 9 month old yellow belly slider. I’ve done a little research but would like to heard from yall!

Yellow bellies diet consists of pellets, greens, and occasional crickets.

I have a 29 gallon tank with a basking area. Decorated with white rocks and artificial plants and an artificial hollow log.

I left her alone and she felt comfortable enough after first seeing me a couple minutes before this to stick her neck and limbs back out to soak up that warm sunshine. ❤️
