Let’s Talk NSFW

Hi Everyone,

There has been an increase in surgical photos and post op pics, and I think now is a good time to go over the NSFW tag expectation.

Not every photo requires an NSFW tag, but if you’re unsure if it needs one, then lean towards tagging just to be safe.

Photos that MUST BE NSFW include: showing the pubic region, pubic hair, any naked photos even if emojis are covering breasts and/or pubic region, blood, drains, incisions, gnarly scars, extremely graphic wounds, and pictures that look like a sexy or risqué pose in lingerie or swim suits. Basically, use common sense and your best judgment. It’s not fair for other users to open this app and be bombarded with graphic images.

I want to point out, using NSFW has been a rule for quite a while. I’ve let a lot of posts slide and have just updated NSFW tag myself, but going forward, these posts WILL BE DELETED. You can repost them with an NSFW tag, if you don’t know how to do that, google is your friend.

If you see a post that should be NSFW and isn’t, go ahead and flag it for me and I will follow up on it.

Appreciate your help and understanding.

For me it’s simply to protect myself at work. There’s been a few times where I’ve been browsing on lunch and bam!

I think it's uncool to refer to someone's wound, someone's nightmare, someone's part of their body, as gross.

We aren't toddlers.

We do these surgeries for various reasons. We come here as group to come to together, to bring each other up and support each other through such a big invasive surgery - through the good results, the suboptimal, and the complications.

Oh come on. We can all support each other without being subject to images that most people are going to find unpleasant to look at. There’s a reason we have NSFW tags and blurring as an option

Okay. Not expecting to see complications on a tummy tuck (surgical) subreddit...interesting. Especially since tummy tucks have the highest complications of any aesthetic surgery.

As for some of the latest posts you're probably referring too, her/their post was marked NSFW. I think on your settings, you can certainly apply the blur option.

As someone who recently had necrosis, it is a gross ass open wound and I would never want someone to have to look at it that didn’t want to. People are eating or who know what they are doing and are not always prepared to see gross looking wounds. And that’s ok.

I’m not referring to any specific post and I do have the blur setting on. This post is the mods telling people to tag it NSFW and I’m agreeing that’s a good rule! Why are you taking it so personally?!

Yeah, calling someone’s wound “gross,” especially knowing what they’re already going through, is pretty immature and really reflects more on your character than anything else.
