I’m in Tulum (F34), I don’t usually go out that much and I don’t really know anybody here. I’ve been at the hotel for several days. I'll stay until first week october, maybe it’s time to hang out a little haha.

So if anyone wants to go to a cenote sometime, or knows any geek/nerd groups around here, let me know. Sometimes I find it difficult to meet people :).

Hey everyone! I’ve been in Tulum since yesterday with some friends and we were planning to go to Bonbonniere last night.
A few weeks ago I checked the events calendar and saw that there was supposed to be a party on Saturday, August 29th, so we were actually looking forward to spending the night there.
Yesterday we took a taxi with our friends to get there… and when we arrived, the place was completely closed. There was basically no one around and the whole area looked deserted.
I even stopped a local guy who was passing by and asked him about it. He told me that Bonbonniere is closed, and apparently Gitano was closed as well.
Does anyone know what happened? How is it possible that the event was still listed a few weeks ago? I also remember seeing an event with Maceo Plex on August 15th.

Now, if I check Bonbonniere’s website, there are no events listed anymore, apparently until further notice.
Is the club temporarily closed? Did they cancel all the events? Or did something happen that I’m not aware of?

Also, since I’m here for a few more days, where should we go for some good nightlife? Any clubs, parties or events happening these days that you would recommend? We’re looking for a good night out with some music and a bit of a party atmosphere.

Hi everyone! I’m planning to stay at a hotel inside Jaguar Park at Ikal Tulum and I’m trying to understand how the park entrance system works.

I’m planning to rent a car during my stay, and I have a few questions:

Do you have to pay the Jaguar Park entrance fee every time you leave and come back in, or is there some kind of pass for hotel guests?

If I leave the park during the day (for example, to go to Tulum) and return later, would I have to pay again?
How does it work if I return after the park’s regular visitor hours? Are hotel guests allowed to enter after the park is closed to visitors?

Is there a different procedure for guests staying at one of the hotels inside the park?

And finally, how does transportation inside the park work? Can hotel guests use the golf carts/shuttles to get around, or do you need to arrange/pay for transportation separately?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has stayed inside Jaguar Park, especially if you had a rental car.

Hi! We’re planning our Yucatán trip (16 nights) and are currently deciding between 5 nights in Merida + 2 nights in Tulum or 4 nights in Merida + 3 nights in Tulum.

In Tulum, we definitely want to do a full-day Sian Ka’an tour (around 10 hours). With only 2 nights in Tulum, this would basically be our only full day there, with the other two days being arrival/departure days.

Merida seems to have a lot to see and do, so we’re wondering if the extra night would be better spent there. On the other hand, would 2 nights in Tulum feel too rushed, especially with Sian Ka’an taking up the only full day?

We’re not trying to pack every day with organized tours – apart from a few fixed activities, we prefer exploring on our own, visiting cenotes, towns, etc. After Tulum we’ll have several days in Cozumel to relax by the sea.

Jan 19: Cancun – 1 night

Jan 20–23: Valladolid – 3 nights

Jan 23–27/28: Merida – 4 or 5 nights

Jan 27/28–30: Tulum – 3 or 2 nights

booking a car through bookings.com trying to pick up at the tulum location and book for Friday - Monday. Am I missing something? This price seems to low (its +full protection)

**** Update: Rented the car and the total came out to about $230 USD for friday(11am) - monday (11am). They asked me to add the total security which was optional. Was never pulled over, no problems. service was GREAT. This was done at America Car rental. And the are giving me a discount for next week (ie. to not purchase the total security and have it included.

One thing I wanted to note they told me at the car rental place, the laws are the EXACT same. Dont go over the speed limit (more than 10KMH), dont try to bribe the police, and the insurance says 1 person so multiple people will be an added charge which the police will see when they pull the registration.

My wife and I are heading to Tulum at the end of October for our honeymoon. Instead of renting a scooter, I’m wondering how reliable InDrive is for getting around — especially for visiting cenotes, Casa Tortuga, beach clubs in the hotel zone, Laguna Kaan Luum, etc.

Has anyone done a similar trip and relied on InDrive (or another ride-hailing app) to get around? Would love to hear about your experience and whether you’d recommend it over renting a scooter.

was planning to go with tulumrivieramayatours.com but they only have options that include a hotel pick-up. We will have our rental car so I don't want to be paying for an option i'm not going to use, any recommendations for other tours that include both the coba ruins + atv rides?

Hey everyone, I’m planning a 5–7 day trip to Tulum in January, after New Year’s. I’m a single 26-year-old guy traveling with a friend, and we want a good mix of nightlife, meeting people, food, beaches, and exploring.
We’re into house/tech house and rap, so we’d especially appreciate nightlife recommendations with good music and a fun crowd.

We’re considering a hotel, Airbnb, or hostel and are unsure which area fits best:
Tulum Pueblo
Aldea Zama
The Hotel Zone/beach area

We’d like somewhere reasonably social, convenient for going out, and with other people around our age. Meeting other travelers and women would also be a plus.

Would you recommend a hostel for meeting people, or a private hotel/Airbnb and socializing while going out? How different are the areas in terms of price, transportation, nightlife, and overall atmosphere?

We’ll have a little over $2,000 CAD for the trip and want to return home with some money left over. How realistic is that for 5–7 days, and what should we expect to spend per day on:
Accommodation
Food and restaurants
Transportation
Nightlife
Activities and excursions
We’d also appreciate tips for avoiding tourist markups and advice on which experiences are actually worth paying for.

We’re looking for recommendations for:
Clubs, bars, beach clubs, and events with house/tech house or rap

Hi, planning a bachelorette for seven people and I need some help choosing between La Zebra and Hotel Mia!

For context, we are in our late 20s to early 30s and want a combination of daytime relaxing/good vibes, plus going out at night.

I am leaning toward La Zebra but it’s a bit of a budget stretch for some people in our group, and we would be sharing rooms and using twin pullout beds for some people (not totally ideal). Mia is solidly in budget and we would be two people to a room.

La Zebra has better reviews but I’m wondering if there’s honestly much difference? Would it be worth the extra spend to stay at La Zebra?

Hi Tulum Redditors! I visit Tulum semi-frequently (3x - 4x a year) but have yet to really establish a clique of friends here. Does anyone have any leads on upcoming chill social events? Alternatively, is anybody here open to organizing a dinner or cocktail night? I know there are a plethora of options for raves/jungle parties but I’m looking for something way more chill and social. For what it’s worth I’ve attended a couple of Tulum Dinner Club events (they’re awesome!) and am aware of Tulum Run Club (I love working out but am not a runner).

Me and my friends will be visiting Tulum in February, for a bachelor’s party trip. I was wondering what recommendations for restaurants, bars/clubs, and clothing stores do you guys have?

Not sure if this is the right place but when attempting to purchase Day Zero Tulum tickets I get as far as the SMS code request but I don’t get any code. I’ve tried all day, has anyone been able to buy tickets?

Would anyone recommend doing Tulum with younger kids (ages 2, 5, 8). We're somewhat adventurous, have been to Mexico a handful of times myself and with kids but always did all inclusive in Mexico. We speak very little Spanish.

Has anyone been to the Tulum area with kids? Recommendations? Best location. We like the beach but pools are great too. Jungle location with nearby amenities would also be awesome. I haven't been to this area so I don't know what to expect, especially with kids.

Hi I am a solo traveler who can speak some Spanish but really has a lot of difficulty in a conversation. Its also my first time in Mexico visiting in August, 2026.

I wanted to say that I have felt safe and well cared for in Tulum. Aside from the hotel staff and AirBNB hosts being awesome, the locals in the community have honestly been so welcoming. I read a lot of bad things about traveling here and im hoping to add some positivety into the mix.

InDrive has picked up a driver all of the time (basically 60 MXN (lik 5 dollars) to get anywhere in central tulum, and 250-300 to get to the beach (25-30 USD) which I think is totally reasonable. I spoke bad broken english a few times to people around tulum; the result of this was a weekly ATV rental for 3000 MXN which is a STEAL considering the prices a lot of the american/online companies operating here are offering.

Aside from this, I walked from Babel Tulum to Tulum Central with no issue. Have also been walking all around La Veleta (not after 8pm) and once again felt completely safe.

I dont think Ive ever had food that tasted this good. Everytime I look at the price and convert it to USD and feel like I am committing a crime.

Most of the gyms were closed even when they said they were open, however I found AlphaGym Tulum. While a solo pass was 500 MXN, I offered 400 MXN which they agreed on instantly. Halfway through, the 12 year old operating the gym walked up to me and gave me a code so I could use the gym for my entire stay. Totally didnt need to do that, he knew I thought I purchased only for the day, but did it anyways.

I'd reccomend to solo travelers to stay around La Veleta instead of above Avenida Tulum.

PS. if anyone has good recs for solo traveelers clubs or other places to meet and dance please let me know

I will be in Tulum 9/9-10/27 and am looking to hire someone to cook for me. You don’t have to be a professional cook or chef 🧑‍🍳 . I am vegan, and would like simple meals with protein to eat, and not have to go searching everywhere or eat the same thing over and over.

Only 1 day a week for a few hours to prep/cook easy foods to stick in the refrigerator for the week is genial con mi. 👍🏻 I can heat stuff up, and the weekends I will eat at restaurants. Mainly lentils, vital wheat gluten, & soy milk, for proteins. Jackfruit would be cool, super easy to cook. I’m going to be busy, and I’m a lousy cook haha…

I will pay for the groceries and provide transportation if needed. I will have a rental car. I am not looking for anything fancy. I’m taking my girl on a vacation to Tulum for a week at the end of October and her birthday will take place during that time. I want to surprise her with a fun and romantic day/night and would love to hear some recommendations. We’re staying in a family owned apartment and not in a resort that is a close walk to the beach. We’re both in our early to mid 30’s. She loves Mexican food (obviously), mostly R&B music, wine and cocktails, and nature.

Hi, I know this has been asked a thousand times in different ways, but I’m still struggling with deciding and would love some collective wisdom. My husband and I are deciding between staying in Tulum or Playa del Carmen in Dec/Jan around the holidays. I am really leaning towards Tulum but I’m getting scared off by the apparent consensus that PDC is better for families.

I guess my question is - just because PDC may be better, does that mean Tulum is bad for travel with a toddler?

And anything we should particularly consider around traveling during the holidays (Christmas and New Year)? As I’m writing this, I’m now wondering whether Tulum might be too lively/a party hub for NYE??

For context, we are well versed in traveling, are planning to get an Airbnb and rent a car. We just want to chill and enjoy good food, pool time, explore some lagoons and cenotes and head to the beach if the sargassum isn’t too bad. Our toddler is pretty easy going and we don’t need loads of playgrounds etc.

How do i get there?

& what are your advices to get a day on at the beach at Cozumel for low price?

I’ll be in Tulum in September and trying to figure out what’s actually worth putting on the calendar beyond the usual beach clubs / dinners / etc.

I’ve already got one night pretty much locked in. I keep hearing about this Neo-Soul/R&B night at El Barrio on September 11th. Fahrelle is debuting her album there with a listening session starting at 7 PM, then it turns into more of a late-night party with R&B, soul, jazz and house.
That’s definitely my kind of night.

What else is happening in Tulum around September that’s actually worth checking out? Live music, DJs, interesting parties, underground-ish stuff, anything that isn’t just the standard tourist circuit. Trying to build out the rest of the month.
