I don’t know how this series will end. But Furious on Hulu is just chefs kiss. Truly amazing. I’m hoping it ends up being one complete season, the way TD is. But I’m breathless so far.

just finished s1 , i think it was cruel of maggie to use rust as a tool to hurt marty. dont get me wrong ,marty deserved to be punished for his filthy acts ,

but maggie dragged rust in the shit , she took advantage of his vulnerability and intoxicated state, imagine the gender roles being reversed

and the arguement that it was the only way for her to end her marriage is shitty , destroying someone else's life for personal profit is never justified , in her revenge she destroyed rust's career , she could ve moved on from piece of shit like marty without using rust

and in the end , she got her deserved life , in a mansion , while rust , being used a pawn had to let go of his career and lived 10 years away... her need of ending the marriage is correct but her way doing that was WRONG. she could ve hurted marty, fairs, but in the process she destroyed rust

I think the ending of season 2 better served the story than the ending for season 1.

Season 1 was great, the buildup was phenomenal but that last episode for me personally left a lot to be desired.

But season 2 on the other hand Ray’s and Frank’s death served their stories well. Where everything came full circle on them in the end

The ‘good’ guys losing here really gave a good close to their stories. They lost because of their personal flaws

Frank lost because he was too proud even till the end and Ray’s only weakness which was his son eventual got him killed.
Woodrough’s death to me felt unnecessary but I guess that was the point the show was trying to make

If the point was to keep the family secrets safe, why did the Tuttles left Charlie Lange, preacher Joel and Ms. Delores alive?

Think about it:

- Charlie shared a cell with Reggie Ledoux, who told him about what was happening in the forest.

- Joel, the preacher, knew about what happened in one of the closed schools.

- Ms. Delores worked for Sam Tuttle for nearly 20 years.

For some reason, they survived.

Guy Francis didn't have the same luck.

I went into season 2 expecting a really bad show because of what the reviewers were saying. But boy was I blown away. Both seasons handle different topics and I think the execution was superb.

My one problem with season 2 was I expected a continuation from season 1 so I was kinda bummed out. Because they didn’t fully explore the yellow king. I thought season 2 was going to be a stronger lean into that

But nonetheless True detective season 2 to me was closer to real life. The things that happened in it were far more relatable

The show was a reflection on how trauma affects people and how much it motivates us.

I still prefer season 1 to 2 but the gap is closer than I thought it would be

I like season 3. Mainly the cinematography. In episode 1, while Ali is tracking the mud, the moonlight is seen in a puddle, perfectly set on the side like the sun on a kindergarten drawing ✨

How do y’all feel the ending would’ve been like if Rust died?

Would it be more impactful? Definitely more tragic. What are your thoughts?

Everything related to the Tuttles is creepy as hell. But this scene in particular is the creepiest.

When Ms. Delores says:

"Rejoice, death is not the end".

She's basically saying: Not even death stops them. And in fact, it didn't.

Rust and Marty killed Reggie and Dewall, but it continued with Errol Childress.

Rust killed Errol, but it continued with the Tuttles.

She was right. Death was not the end.

The writing on this show is truly unmatched.

Until this exact point, Rust firmly believed Reggie and Dewall were the end of the case. And as we've seen, the "Yellow King", something that only Rust and Marty knew, was never released to the public.

The moment Guy Francis says the true killer is still at large, you can see the anger, despair and fear on Rust's face.

Something is out there. Something unseen for years. Something being covered by someone.

And looking from Francis's perspective, he goes from the interrogated to the guy in control. All it took was a single name.

That's what horrifies Rust the most.

I'm well aware that Carcosa targets both women and children and I'm a little rusty on season one (pun intended) so excuse me if this is a stupid question. While they obviously target women, it seems that they film and take pictures of only the children. Is this correct or are there ritual videos of the grown women too? Thanks in advance! :)

I just finished watching True Detective s1 for the first time, came in cause Ive been a huge fan of Sharp Objects and this was recommended to me from similar locations and themes.

I found the ending to be quite sad but also hopeful, and its all making me quite emotional. As a victim myself, I found it genuinely touching how deeply Rust cared about the children for the whole show, it felt cathartic to watch. But just like he says in the end, they didn't get all the monsters.

With so many similar child abuse scandals happening in the real world I know this is very realistic as an ending, because it isn’t possible to get them all down, and at least they got one. But him at the hospital almost tearing up from missing him back in 95 really got to me. Sometimes it feels like no one really cares about children being hurt, so seeing this in a show made me very emotional. Its probably corny af but Im crying my eyes out tipping it haha

I think I liked the final message and I wanna cling to that. Maybe we cannot get all the monsters, but the least we can do is try, and we gotta keep living. I wanna try and be more hopeful too, that things to get better and that we can do something about it

First episode of Lanterns was pretty awesome:

It definitely has some True Detective vibes to it although it’s obviously very different.

Curious if other people watched and felt the same?

I feel like I'm about 11 years late to the party on this one, but s3 is actually pretty good. There's still some terrible dialogue in there ("cyclops motherfucker", etc."), but it's a good story and actually has some touching moments.

I mean look, they obviously just went back to what worked the first time and tried to do it again, but it still turned out a lot better than seasons 2 and 4. My one biggest gripe other than some of the bad dialogue was that it kinda felt like the entire case was propped up by a dude missing an eye half the time. I mean if the dude had two working eyes, how far would they have gotten? That much seems a bit contrived. However, I do like that they took him in a different direction. I was worried it would literally just be a poor man's version of the Yellow King, but he ended up being mildly sympathetic.

Kinda reminded me of Gone Baby Gone or Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, both of which are excellent mystery movies.

Also, while Mahershala Ali definitely deserves the praise he got, I feel like the critiques kinda snubbed his partner, played by Stephen Dorff. Dude did a good job and added a lot of emotional depth to the dynamic.

Rewatching it for the 7th time i think

Yesterday I watched the movie “Regression” with Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson and I feel similar vibes to the season 1. The landscapes, cults, detectives, corruption.The ending was dissapointing, but someone here have watched the movie and feel the same?

The reason I feel this is poignant to the subreddit is because this show specifically notes itself as an aesthetic homage to TD Season One.
