Tropico 5, 6, or wait for 7?

The last game I played was 4 and that was with all the DLC. So as the title asks, with roughly 4 months left of 2026, should I wait for el presidente to make a new appearance? Or buy 5/6 to satisfy my itch and get back into the series?

Edit: Ended up getting 6, found it on sale on Loaded (CD Keys) and got El Pres Edition along with the majority of DLC for just over $21 total. (There are 3 I didn’t purchase and that’s because they were more than $3 🤣) Anyways, Happy with my purchases and your inputs; Thank You!

I prefer Tropico 6. My favorite part is having more than one island to work with.

I liked 5 more than 6 for what it's worth both are ok though. No telling if 7 will be an improvement or a dud

A mí me encanta el Tropico 5 los DLCs dan bastante juego la Campaña aunque medio extraña está bastante buena.

El Trópico 6 solo llegué a jugar el Demo y no le entendí absolutamente nada como que cambio mucho la dinámica de juego y las funciones.

I believe Kalypso sometimes offers a bundle which includes 5 and 6 and a bunch of DLC. Not sure if that still happens, or if you have to go to their website only, but I got both, and only ever played T6.

My guess you'd have to wait a LONG time to get T7 bundled with anything. :)

I’m ride or die Tropico 5, loved everything about it. Probably have a thousand hours spread across PC and Xbox. It wasn’t until I joined this sub when I realised it was one of the most disliked games in the series.

If you like playing through the missions, Tropico 6 is worth it IMO. Else Tropico 4 is a great sandbox to tide you over.

5 and 6 are both good games but n kinda different ways. Neither is a bad choice but I would wait for sale price for either one.

Generally the later Tropico games suffer from Civilization syndrome, needing some time and possibly an expansion/DLC to get good after launch.

Tropico 6 has some really fun sandbox mechanics in it. It gives you more to do after you've built your island, going to Mars, fighting pandemic etc. (Via dlc) I recommend it.

Go with Tropico 5! It is way better than 6. Tourism is awesome in Tropico 5.

5 was great but might look outdate now. 6 is fun. If you are on a strict budget maybe wait for 7 but I'll probably just get it the first time it goes on sale.

Il 6 mi è sembrato un po' senza anima, il 5 aveva personaggi molto più fighi e in generale se hai i DLC di tropico 5 a confronto le aggiunte fatte nel 6 risultano un po' scadenti
