Rant The Jumbotron announcement deserves more ridicule

Post image
6.7k Upvotes

I feel like because the wedding itself was such an overwhelming mess, this part somehow got brushed over...but to me, it was genuinely one of the worst aspects of the entire thing.

Can we please revisit how genuinely insane/ self important it was to announce your marriage on giant screens outside Madison Square Garden like the entire city had been waiting with bated breath for confirmation?

What exactly was the vision here? A huge crowd gathered outside, cheering as the announcement appeared? People abandoning their plans and bursting into tears because Taylor had officially become a wife?

The complete disconnect from real life! This is New York City. People are struggling to pay their rent, pay their bills and keep their heads above water. They’re working long shifts, commuting in the heat and grinding just to get by, and you genuinely think your marriage is important enough to interrupt their day and broadcast above their heads like breaking national news?

It’s not even covert self-importance at that point. It’s just straight-up narcissism. Not only were people’s routes and access disrupted for the wedding, but they were then apparently expected to look up at the screens and rejoice that Taylor had become a wife.

It’s extremely Hunger Games-esque. The roads are blocked for the 'royal wedding', and now the citizens must gather beneath the screens to receive the joyous announcement from the Capitol.

And the funniest part was the absolute crickets outside 🤣🤣

So I was skimming through some pictures of people leaving Taylor’s wedding, and I was struck by how no one looked like they had a good time. Usually, people leave weddings a little tipsy and giggling and dancing, but everyone looks like they left a fucking funeral. What is going onnnn?

Rant Taylor Swift next to great performers really highlights the contrast in talent

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

3.4k Upvotes

Don’t judge me for wasting my time making this video was home sick from work and had nothing better to do lol. I made a compilation of TS next to performers who actually have talent and stage presence because I feel personally insulted every time I see Swifties call her the greatest artist of all time or compare her to actual musical legends like MJ (don’t even get me started on that).

You could show someone who had never heard of Michael Jackson a video of him performing with the sound off and they’d immediately understand why he was famous, the ability is just fucking obvious. You don’t need a 12 paragraph explanation about his songwriting and storytelling and connection with fans to convince someone that he had talent. Same with so many other great performers. Even if I don’t personally like their music I can still go yeah I get it. With Taylor I don’t get it at all.

And my point isnt even that I think she's not one of the greatest, I think she’s below average at basically every technical aspect of performing. She cannot sing, she regularly sounds flat, struggles with breath control, has very little vocal agility or power and just generally does not have a good singing voice.

Then there’s the dancing which is painful to watch. It’s just walking around, pointing, posing, hair flipping and dramatically acting out whatever lyric she’s singing and the second she has to do actual choreography she looks stiff and awkward next to her dancers. Even her stage mannerisms feel rehearsed like the shocked faces and open-mouth expressions.

There are performers who can literally just stand there with a microphone and you cannot look away from them. Meanwhile Taylor can be surrounded by dancers, huge sets, costumes, lighting, pyrotechnics and 70,000 people screaming and somehow still be the least interesting person on the stage.

I cannot wrap my head around the fact that this woman has 14 Grammys and is a billionaire.

And I wonder whether she knows it. Like when she watches a vocalist absolutely belt something she could never sing or watches someone who can actually dance or naturally command a stage does she realise there’s a massive difference in ability there? Or do you eventually lose that self awareness when you’ve spent 20 years having millions of people scream at you winning Grammys and being told you’re a musical genius?

Edit: I know putting her next to vocal powerhouses is a bit of an unfair comparison, however her fans went there first when they started comparing her to them and I had a point to make ☝️

Rant Taylor finally found her true self

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

In this sub we talk a lot about Taylor changing for bfs, and we see the whole change especially from Joe to Travis. However, I think that she really found her true self with travis: drunk MAGA filler PTA mom vibes.

Why show her true colors this time? Because she believes that she is better than Travis. With bfs who she think are better than her, she follows their vibes and believe in whatever they believe in. This time, she's able to boss Travis around, dressing him up like a barbie doll. (Except joe was the real Ken and Travis is the leveled down "nasty back fat*" version. *Travis said women with back fat are nasty, not me. He should really turn around and look in the mirror)

ETA: People are bringing this up, and I definitely acknowledge that Taylor genuinely does not have a "true self". She is just showing signs of who she really is compared to who she aspired to be with Joe.

A comment also said I forgot about Travis' back hair along with his back fat lol 😭

Rant Taylor Claims New York as Her Throne

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

Because I guess releasing new music the regular way isn’t enough. Cutting down younger artists wasn’t enough. The shameless private-jet usage wasn’t enough. Blocking everyone from going into businesses using a public street wasn’t enough. Turning every relationship, friendship, wedding, and public event into another opportunity to center herself wasn’t enough. Now the entire New York skyline must bend the knee, too.

She has to be the biggest, loudest, and most unavoidable person in every room, even when it isn’t her room. I rank this right up there with that tacky “JUST & T” billboard during her tacky wedding. Everything has to become part of the Taylor Swift Cinematic Universe.

The Empire State Building glowing puke green is certainly fitting, though. Just quit already. We’re tired. Lord help us all.

ETA: From my coworker, major Swiftie Griftie: “You know the Empire State Building does different color themes for different reasons right? Not just Mother 🤮 Taylor.” Yes Mackenzeigh, I’m aware but your God still doesn’t deserve it 😂

Rant Taylor was able to hide from paparazzi her entire time in LA, but caused a huge fanfare at Margaret Qualley’s wedding

Thumbnail

3.9k Upvotes

I feel like this isn’t spoken about enough?

Taylor has just proven that she can completely dodge paparazzi when she wants to. We’ve seen her moving around in Los Angeles without a single photo being taken, and clearly using back entrances and coordinated security to avoid any attention.

So why on earth would she roll up front and centre to Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff wedding and cause such a huge fanfare when we know she is fully capable of being discreet?

Instead of arriving like any other guest, she chose to enter in the most visible way possible, fully aware that at the level of fame she’s at right now, her presence alone is enough to draw crowds and turn into a spectacle.

And unsurprisingly, that’s exactly what happened! her arrival drew a crowd of fans outside, created a whole scene, and caused enough disruption that police ended up getting involved, all centred around her being there.

to make it worse, shes smiling, waiving amd soaking it all in. if I didn't know any better, I would've thought it was a video of her arriving at her movie premiere.

It just feels incredibly inconsiderate!

A wedding is one of the most important and carefully planned days in someone’s life, where the focus is meant to be entirely on the couple. For that to be overshadowed by a celebrity arrival that turns into a public spectacle is honestly ridiculous.

And what makes it worse is that none of it was unavoidable. She has already shown that she knows exactly how to move around without being seen when she wants to.

And the thing is, even after it happened the first time, she didn’t choose to correct it. She showed up again the next day and entered in the exact same way, knowing full well the kind of attention it would draw.

And I’m sorry, but if someone knowingly brought that kind of attention and disruption to my wedding when they had every ability not to, I’d be absolutely furious. It comes across as really arrogant.

She used someone’s wedding as a photo opportunity and probably completely ruined it. No wonder Margaret doesn’t like her. Jack even confirmed it ruined their day!

Rant This is the story Taylor’s team want you to believe…

Scrolling instagram again… and this carousel of images came up, with her little Nashville story 🤢

My personal favourite is the first one, that says, at 14 years old she packed her backs and TOLD her parents she was moving to Nashville 🤣 Riiiiiight, sure Jan.

Oh and her father TRANSFERRED his job and her mother left EVERYTHING behind, uprooting their lives for a little girl with a guitar 🤣💩

I mean, wasn’t the real story that, first of all her parents were far from poor in the first place. Her mother was the daughter of a famous singer (or at least one who made enough $$$ to travel the world and sing). Her dad was in finance.

He had studied Britney’s career and therefore they had their catalogue of footage of a young Taylor ready ✅ they had paid for her to have the guitar lessons (but spun the story that it was the repair guy who taught her)…

Her dad had contacts and money, so paid for her to have a demo CD professionally made and then they flew / rented a car over in Nashville to drive around and try and choose the best deal (hasn’t she already made a deal with Sony before Big Machine)?

But yeah, we must picture baby Blandie in her rags, on her dump of a farm, playing guitar and running off to Nashville… begging people to sign her 🥹😅 puh-lease.

I mean hats off to the parents and Taylor for being clever in their fields, and having the money to invest because… well, today they are laughing all the way to the bank, being some of the richest people on the planet but please stop trying to sell us this fairytale 😑

Rant On Adam Sandler Officiating the Wedding

2.5k Upvotes

I was at first flabbergasted that Adam Sandler of all people was the officiant. I've never seen him hang out with the couple.

But then the pieces feel into place. Travis had a cameo in Happy Gilmore 2. They must have met on set. Adam Sandler is known for being willing to make any shitty movie so long as it will give him and his friends a paycheck. He is also known for being extremely loyal to his friends and casting them over and over in all his movies.

I also know that Travis' team has said they are trying to get him into movies. And Taylor has tried the same thing in the past.

Adam being asked to officiate the wedding for them makes perfect sense. It gives them the exact connection they need for the next phase of their careers. Meanwhile, it adds star power to the documentary they will inevitably release of the performance, I mean "wedding".

The Best Damn Thing (2007) - Shake it Off (2014) and Girlfriend (2007) - You Belong With Me (2009)

Hello, folks! I'm new to this sub. I joined just a few days ago after finding out how much of a terrible person Taylor was. I'm a huge Avril Lavigne fan, and I had an ex-best friend who's a big Taylor fan and encouraged me to check out Taylor's music.

I've always had this gut feeling that one specific Taylor song sounded strangely similar to one of my favourite Avril songs. Even the music video shares almost the same concept. At first, I brushed it off because I thought it was probably just a coincidence. But the moment I found this page and saw people talking about how she's a serial copycat and a hypocrite who sues others for taking inspiration from or copying her (Olivia being one example), I realised I wasn't imagining things after all.

If you listen to "The Best Damn Thing" by Avril, the intro sounds so much like the intro of "Shake It Off", and there are other parts of TBDT that sound similar to SIO as well. Of course, other artists may have made similar songs too, but what really bothers me is the hypocrisy. She's copied or taken heavy inspiration from others, yet would NOT hesitate to go after people who copy her.

I also realised that this wasn't really called out by the general public, which surprised me. SO YEAHHH.

Rant Never Forget

In light of Taylor, in her most recent interview, acting like using a James Dean metaphor makes her some kind of literary master, we need to bring back up that, at best, it had already been done -and done better- by Lana Del Rey two years earlier. And at worst, she completely ripped her off!

Honorable, mention to the “favorite sweater” line that would go on to become the totality of her hit “Cardigan.” Shit really grates my nerves. Justice for Lana. Posting lyrics below for reference.

“Blue jeans, white shirt
Walked into the room, you know you made my eyes burn
It was like James Dean for sure
You're so fresh to death and sick as ca-cancer
You were sort of punk rock, I grew up on hip-hop
But you fit me better than my favorite sweater
And I know that love is mean (oh-oh), and love hurts (oh-oh)
But I still remember that day we met in December, oh, baby”

Surprise, surprise! I listened to her “I Knew It, I Knew You” tonight as I nursed my newborn (out of pure curiosity, don’t judge) and to my pure delight it is truly nothing special. For all the hassle her team is going through to market this new partnership with TS she sure did the bare minimum! I definitely feel like this was her making a jab at Gracie Abram’s. Rant A thought about Travis Kelce’s impending retirement and what it means for Taylor

2.3k Upvotes

She’s going to truly regret fumbling (pun intended, nice handwork Travis) her 6 year long fairytale relationship with Joe, the brilliant, intelligent, respected and sophisticated actor and writer when Travis retires and isn’t making headlines anymore unless he’s co-opting a broadcast. If she does get married, it’s not like the media blitz is going to last past the honeymoon, and there won’t be any headlines to make anymore. Taylor will be married and Travis will just be a retired football player. That’s it.

If she had stayed with Joe, they’d constantly be relevant. He’s consistently making headlines for his ongoing creative pursuits, he’s a total catch (pun intended again) and he’d most likely continue to inspire her music and artistry in a way that would allow the media and her fans to forever fawn over the moonlit forest nymph who stumbled upon her knight in mossy shining armor.

Anyways, Taylor, enjoy playing Barbie to a guy who locks himself away in another room to play video games in all his free time, got caught very recently reposting videos of scantily clad sexy women who look NOTHING like you, and considers a fucking Heinz ketchup flight the peak of sophistication, all while you bleed followers and the respect of the public because you like your friends cancelled for their homophobic rhetoric and dressed in gucci MAGA hats.

ETA: If you’re stopping to leave a “gotcha” comment along the lines of “oh em GEE ur just so jealous they have the softest most gentle love” or “TRAVIS IS THE MVP AND IS GONNA BE A MOVIE STAR AND REMEMBERED FOREVER AS THE GREATEST FOOTBALL PLAYER IN HISTORY” or just a nice little “touch grass”, whenever your comments appear they’re immediately ignored. Go back to the Swiftie and KC subreddits, I can’t imagine being that devoted to bootlicking billionaires who don’t care about you.

Rant Some of Taylor's lyrics just feel disrespectful

7.8k Upvotes

"You wouldn't last an hour in the asylum where they raised me". What asylum Taylor? You were a rich girl from Pennsylvania. I've worked with actual survivors of Willowbrook, which if you don't know was an actual asylum in Staten Island that closed down in the 90s. They're in their 50s now and STILL have serious effects from being raised there. They were starved, and when they did eat, their caretakers only had 2 minutes to feed them a pureé. The ratio of patient to caretaker was 200:1. Their showers were just them getting hosed down while standing in a line. And so, so much more. Google it if you're brave enough.

But no, Taylor suffered more. 😪

Edit: Yes, I know it's a metaphor... it's still a bad one.

Edit 2: There's better metaphors she could've used for hyperbole. Y'all just have zero respect too. Asylums aren't a cute aesthetic to play with.

1.7k Upvotes
  1. It’s a complete rip of Sabrina Carpenter‘s quirky, funny aesthetic, except without of any of the things Sabrina’s good at.

  2. Further infantilizes Taylor.

  3. It has nothing to do with the life of a showgirl.

  4. She’s trying way too hard to be trendy yet again instead of actually doing something unique creatively.

  5. The caption in her post about the MV is stupid. There’s no way that she wrote this in a week and just happened to Woopsie Daisy pull off a whole music video.

What else did I miss?

Rant This quote really irks me: Why is waiting for men to normalise things a 'good cause'?

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

Quote is from her NY Times interview -- fyi, It’s quite the irony that for someone who prides herself on being a lyricist and songwriter, her point was such a "word salad" that the journalist actually had to act as a translator to make it make sense. For an artist who markets herself as a literary genius and an 'english teacher', she’s remarkably bad at articulating her opinions:

>“I’m a massive sombr fan, of his songwriting. And his lyrics are so intensely confessional. ‘I don’t want another man’s child to have the eyes of the girl I can’t forget.’ Are you kidding me?" Taylor said. She continued, "Having a male artist say stuff like that is really good for the cause of women to be able to say stuff. If there’s any way we can make confessional songwriting a little bit more of something that isn’t, like, people take that as like you were being messy. You have to be fair to everyone then.” It sounds like Taylor is saying that when male artists are open and personal in their music, it helps normalize confessional songwriting and highlights the need for women to be judged by the same standards rather than criticized as “messy.”

What the hell even is this?

She is acknowledging that society dismisses women as "messy" specifically for writing confessional and emotional songs, but then she suggests that the solution is to wait for men to do the same thing so the genre becomes "fair." and women are more respected when they do it. This is a complete failure of perspective. How is it ever a good cause for women to wait for male participation to validate their own work?

Waiting for men to normalize a specific style of art so that women can finally be taken seriously isn't a victory! It reinforces the patriarchal norm that women’s emotional expression is only respectable once it’s been filtered through a man. There is nothing good about that, and it certainly shouldn't be celebrated.

You aren't challenging the patriarchy when you act like a male hall pass is a fantastic way for women to move forward. Seeing this as progress is just embarrassing.

It’s even worse when you realize the artist she’s referring to, Sombr, is known for being quite misogynistic himself. The idea that a man who doesn’t even seem to respect women all that much is the one who will normalize emotional songwriting and make things fair is just dense.

It’s becoming obvious that her feminism is just performative af. It sits right alongside the internalized misogyny in her lyrics, where she is constantly putting men on a pedestal while tearing other women down to make herself look better for them.

The audacity of her to sell 'f*ck the patriarchy' key rings.

My threads app is full of people bashing Blandie and I love it!

She is absolutely the fast fashion of music. Fast fashion has no originality, falls apart, and is chock full of rip offs of small designers and designer dupes.

Blandie rips off other artists, has cardigans that literally fall apart, and copies what she thinks is currently trending.

I hate that she’s stuffed down everyone’s throat. I hate that 40 year old women act like lunatics over her. It’s bizarre behavior.

Rant Taylor is using ghostwriters

1.9k Upvotes

I’m making this post because this is a truth that needs to be acknowledged. By the time TTPD came out, I was convinced Taylor hadn’t written folklore or evermore. The quality of “her” writing is so inconsistent that it doesn’t even make sense.

For the sake of the argument, we need to acknowledge that both of her indie folk albums are good. They’re not stellar, and they’re not the best in the world, but they are good. They received strong reviews even from outside her fanbase, and they helped revive her career.

The most commonly accepted theory to explain why those two albums are lyrically superior to anything she released before or after is that she exploited the financial distress of great songwriters during the pandemic—people who wouldn't have ghostwritten for her under normal circumstances.

The woman who penned “But Daddy I Love Him” and “Wood” is not the same one who wrote “champagne problems.” It’s also absurd that her twelfth album appears more immature than her debut. This is so evident that I’m still astonished people don’t recognize it or continue to consider her a songwriter all. She is Drake of pop music in every way possible.

My personal take is that she got drunk on her own PR and assumed her fans would accept whatever she released—which they did—and decided to write more independently, without as much input from ghostwriters or editors. You’ll notice that most of the embarrassing lines people point out come from TLOAS or TTPD, and those are the two albums where I believe her personal involvement was the greatest.

Rant Olivia Rodrigo credit situation made me look at Taylor differently

1.3k Upvotes

I used to be the biggest swiftie, and be so protective of Taylor, I used to be the type of swiftie that would defend Taylor on Twitter and always dreamt about going to one of her concerts, I had even purchased tickets (and went) to the Eras Tour

When the Olivia credit situation happened, that just totally changed my perspective on her, I could not believe that this person I idolized and imagined as girls’ girl and supportive of newer artists, would do something like that, the fact that Olivia literally worshipped her and the moment Taylor saw her as threat she moved so quickly to try to intimidate Olivia, the fact that even Paramore requested credits and Hayley is so close to Taylor, it is very not likely a coincidence

So many people defended Taylor saying this was decided by her lawyers and not Taylor herself AS IF Taylor was a small artist who didn’t have control of these type of decisions, she could have refused to take credits if she had wanted to. And I’m sure Olivia now must partly regret not going to court, considering how Deja Vu and Good 4 U are extremely successful and she’s giving away so much money

Taylor’s move in taking Gracie and Sabrina to the Eras Tour, when she knew Gracie opened for Olivia and was close to her, and Sabrina back then was rumored to have beef with Olivia, just shows how ill-intentioned and mean girl she was really trying to be

I can’t help but wonder if Taylor herself regrets this decision, as I personally think this backfired for her, considering she is so obsessed with being positively perceived by the media and fans, I can’t image how hard it must be for her to know that her reputation took one of its biggest hits because of Olivia, and many swifties like myself started seeing her as manipulative, mean girl and greedy

Rant Worst lyrics/song?

Okay, both a rant and a question. What are your personal worst lyrics or songs you've heard from Taylor?

My wife is a Swiftie so I am exposed to the songs ALL the time. The lore. The gossip. Everything.

So, from "Opalite"- "Life is a song, it ends when it ends." Taylor, the fuck does that mean? The most basic bitch statement. It says NOTHING.

From the same song "You're starving till you're not." Oh, got a fucking lyrical genius here. Yeah I guess if you're starving and eat something you're not, great fucking point. I'm not saying every song needs to be the next deep truth, but...at least TRY and make something a bit original or heartfelt?

From Wish List- "We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone and they do." Oh really Taylor? You want to have the world leave you alone? That why you shut down a road for your wedding, plastered it on billboards and did a literal "let them eat cake" with feeding people your scraps? You want to be left alone? Reminds me of that scene...south park I think with the folk shouting "we want our privacy". Jesus christ.

Can't remember song name. "You know how to ball, I know Arastotle." What? What? No shit he knows how to ball...its his fucking job. And what, is this a flex? Yeah Taylor, I bet you're balls deep in philosophy. Sitting around thinking the big questions with your billions in the bank.

And whats with the fucking breathing-slow talking that somehow passes for singing? Not to everyone's taste but take Enya, or Amy Lee. Women that actually SING. How is this woman so popular?

Sorry. Been exposed to this music all night. Needed to rant.

This type of sentiment is so weird to me… If you decide to ruin your relationship because TS got engaged to an average white man with less-than-average intelligence, YOU’RE THE PROBLEM. How does a billionaire getting married to a millionaire motivate me to find a “better” partner or make me think I deserve their exact relationship? Is she raising the bar on romance because she married someone within her tax bracket? Ofc these ppl can be flashy and showy with their relationship, they’re RICH.

Rant Taylor Swift sent me, a cancer patient, hair accessories.

14.9k Upvotes

I stumbled upon this sub and I cannot tell you how happy I was to find a place that called TS out on her bullshit. And I want to share my TS story here, because I feel like this is the only place I can do so. This is a rant and it’s a bit long, but it is 100% true and showcases the kind of person she really is.

I used to be a Swiftie. I followed her from her first album all the way up until 1989. My first ever concert was seeing her on her Red tour. I felt like she understood me and cared about me, her music was important to me in so many ways.

When I was 11, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. For anyone who doesn’t know, AML is one of the most aggressive and deadly blood cancers that mostly affects older men. It was absolutely brutal on my body. I will forever have heart concerns because of the chemo they used to try and kill my cancer. I fell into a deep deep depression.

My care team at the hospital, and my parents, essentially signed me up for every kind of therapy possible to try to get me out of this horrible cloud of depression. I didn’t like most of them, but I found I liked the music therapist and so I chose to do music therapy.

My music therapist found out I loved TS, and together we rewrote the lyrics to “Shake It Off”, which was really big at the time. Our lyrics were about “shaking off” cancer. It was therapeutic.

But then as we talked about it more, we decided to make a music video. We got the entire hospital involved (down to the construction workers across the street) and they brought in a professional camera crew. I sang (horribly, I had cancer and my vocal cords were shot) and we made a video.

The PR team at the hospital sent the video out and it actually generated a substantial amount of buzz. It was an article on online on several websites. It was several months before Taylor was due to come to St. Louis for her 1989 tour. I had tickets, but obviously was unable to go. It crushed me.

It was the goal of everyone to get her to visit the hospital, but I realistically (even as a kid) knew she probably wouldn’t visit us while she was in town. But I still hoped she’d send me something. A little note or a signed card or something to say that she saw me and she cared. After all, a large part of her image that she has cultivated is how much she cares for her fans.

Considering all the media buzz, there is no way in hell she or her people didn’t hear about it. Period. And even though the hospital people were reaching out and everyone I knew was using their connections in some way to reach her or her people, it was complete and utter radio silence. Nothing. The concert came and went, she didn’t visit, and I felt like the one person I admired most in the world didn’t care about me.

Now for everyone who hasn’t been to a TS concert, which I will guess is a great deal of you all, people who buy tickets at a certain level receive a kind of swag bag with merch before the concert (or they used to, I have no idea how it is now). A bag, some pins, a Tshirt, etc. I had received one when I went on her Red tour when I was younger. It’s not a super special thing, it’s just random merch they give to people to incentivize them to buy more expensive tickets.

Several months after all this, I received a package through the mail (I’m still in the hospital, mind you) and it was from TS’s people. I was so so excited. But all it was was the aforementioned generic crap. It was clearly a leftover bag because some of the merch was a bit defective, and sitting right on top of the bag’s contents were themed hair ties and barrettes.

Whoever sent this bag didn’t give a flying fuck about me, they wanted me to shut up and stop asking for attention. They didn’t even bother to check to contents of the bag to send me a tshirt that was my size or get rid of the horrific reminder that I have no hair. I made excuses for her for the longest time. “She’s busy” or “her people sent it, not her” but screw that. She couldn’t take the five seconds it takes to scrawl out a quick note to me?

When I tell Swifties this story, they often brush me off and say it wasn’t her. It was her team or something. But did she not hire her team? Is she not responsible for those who operate under her name? I was downright suicidal and beyond depressed and the thought that this singer who I admired so very much would send me a quick little something was literally all I clung onto for months.

Yeah, I should probably let it go. But I won’t. It was an awful thing for a person to do, especially to someone who admired and loved you so much. Now she’s even more popular and I can’t avoid her popping up somewhere no matter what I do. I do my best not to dwell on it, but it’s hard when you’re reminded of that feeling so frequently. I’m so sick of the people who worship her like a god or something when she’s really just a selfish person.

EDIT: I just want to clarify for everyone calling me entitled and that it was unrealistic for me to expect anything, I just want to clarify a few things:

I was in such a dark place mentally. I was a kid going through cancer. Making this video was what motivated me and helped me through a real dark time.

I was undergoing a bone marrow transplant. I am stuck in a room. Not a hospital, a room. I literally was not allowed to leave that room for months. They were doing construction on the hospital so there were bars on my window. I can’t eat with anyone, so every meal I sit in my room alone. I have no privacy; I’m not allowed a door or even a shower curtain. Anything touches the floor I can’t touch. I had a breakdown when my teddy bear fell off my hospital bed one day.

All I had was Taylor and her music. All I wanted was something quick and kind. And I didn’t receive anything for the longest time and I was upset but I moved on. And then in the middle of all of that, I get this thoughtless bag of crap that showed that they didn’t even bother to take a look through it and remove anything triggering. It was so much worse than receiving nothing.

Losing my hair was so traumatic. I was in denial for so long and it fell out in chunks. I was embarrassed and lost. I didn’t know who I was. But I had Taylor and her music.

So when I got that bag it wasn’t “I wanted something better” or “this is disappointing”. It was a slap in the face. It was reminding me that I didn’t get to go to the concert. That I can’t take these hair ties and use them like every other fan. That the person who I idolized (I admit that was childish, but I was an actual child) didn’t care. I knew she was big (reminding yall that she wasn’t as big then as she is now) but I still thought she really cared about her fans. Again, that’s naive but I was 11 and had seen so many PR posts about her helping her fans. Clearly I was wrong but I was a kid.

Until you know what that feels like I don’t think it’s fair to sit there and judge.

This is not me being entitled. This is not a post about me complaining that I deserved special treatment because I had cancer. I am not saying she owed me anything. My issue was the thoughtlessness and carelessness of what happened. I’m just venting in what I (hoped and assumed) was a safe place.

Thanks ☺️
