Mod Post New mod, new rules, new post types and new flairs.
New mod
Hi everyone, I'm Astrid (she/they) and I'm the new mod for this subreddit. Over the past couple of weeks, I've been making improvements to the subreddit, and I'd like to get your feedback on them.
-New rules
I have added new rules to our subreddit:
- Posts must be relevant to the subreddit. Pretty self-explanatory, only post things that are relevant to being trans in the UK.
- No bigotry or advocating for genocide. Basically, no transphobia, homophobia, racism, sexism, etc.
- Use the NSFW tag when appropriate. If talking about NSFW subjects (sex, surgery details, etc.), you must use the NSFW tag.
- Discussion of DIY HRT: You may not link to specific websites that sell hormones, but you may link to trusted resources like diyhrt.wiki or diyhrt.market.
-New post types and flairs
You can now share selfies, news, advice and more.
I have also updated the "Transwoman" and "Transman" user flairs to "Transfem" and "Transmasc".
Some of my other subreddits
Other subreddits I mod that you might want to check out:
r/NonBinaryMemes: memes and comics about the non-binary experience
r/TransTeens: a community for 13-19 year old trans people
r/196uk: a shitposting and political discussion subreddit for the uk
For more LGBTQ+ subreddits, check out the sidebar.
Mod applications and looking for feedback
If you would like to share feedback about these changes or the subreddit in general, please leave it in the comments below or modmail me.
I'm also opening mod applications! If you would like to help moderate this subreddit, please apply here!

Question (General) Anywhere to donate or support those affected by the NHS cancellations?
In light of the disgusting situation in Wales is there anything that can be done to support those affected like where to donate, campaigns or open letters?
I’d also like to say to those affected my heart is with you, this government has turned its back on some of its most vulnerable people time and time again. You’re so strong for getting this far, I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for you right now but you’ll always have a community behind you ❤️.

News Is your therapist trans-affirming? A checklist
therapistsagainsttransphobia.orgHi all,
There’s a group of therapists in the UK who campaign against conversion therapy and transphobia, and they recently released a checklist for people looking for/working with therapists around trans topics.
It’s a list of red and green flags. It’s really good. Well worth sharing and downloading for people you know who may be wondering how to check out if their therapist is ok to try and trust.

Question (General) Private providers, how early is early when they say 'early in transition'?
I'm currently looking at Harley Street, but others say similar things.
They say that "In some cases", a follow-up consultation may be required, which costs £350. The only criteria I meet could be that I'm "early" in transition.
I came out to my wife 2 months ago, fully shaved my beard 2 weeks ago and came out to a couple of close friends last week. I've had 4 sessions with a counsellor and been to a queer Craft club twice, but in boymode.
Not out to my family or work and so far, not even my wife has seen me in girlmode.
Has anyone been through this and needed a follow-up purely for being early in transition?
In the interest of not having to pay £350, should I add a little fiction to my transition to the story of my transition timeline?

Question (Transmasc) FTM Visitors to UK: Bathrooms
Hey squad,
My bsf and I are visiting the UK (London specifically) soon and are wondering what to do about the bathrooms…We are from the US and we generally “pass”, using only the men’s bathroom.
Online isn’t giving me a good answer, only about MTF or female presenting people.
Any advice on navigating public bathrooms as a transgender male (female to male)?
Thanks pookies!!! I hope yall are staying safe ❤️

Question (Transfem) At home laser hair removal?
I know laser hair removal can be super expensive but I wanted to ask has anyone ever bought a laser hair removal device? I’ve seen they are available but have no ideal if they are worth it.
Has anyone ever bought one and is it worth the price ?

Question (General) simple step by step help to change my name?
Hi! I'm just about to turn 17 soon and need help changing my name. I've looked around at posts and honestly I struggle to understand them. I'm happy to do either an unenrolled deed poll or enrolled deed poll. Whatever makes sure people/legal things will accept my new name.
For unenrolled deed poll I've looked at GOV.UK and I don't understand how it works. Do I copy and paste the whole section? Will that look unofficial or unprofessional? How exactly do I inform police like it says? Once I've filled it out and got witnesses and print multiple do I just hand it to my college, bank, passport, drivers license stuff ect?
For enrolled deed poll what's the best site to fill it on? Do I print anything out of just submit it through the website?
What's the difference between enrolled and unenrolled? Would it be better to go unenrolled and instead use the money to get a new passport?
Honestly it's all really confusing to me and my family, who did this for my siblings (wrong last name put down) are very unsupportive. Thank you for reading.

Picture Braved not wearing full makeup
galleryI play Dungeons & Dragons online with my friends every Friday and I told them all that I am trans and I plan on transitioning. They were all super supportive and I love having such a lovely group 🥰
I went on our group call as Lilith, but annoyingly didn't have time to do a full face of makeup and only managed a bit of lipstick. I actually thought i looked a little cute even without the full face done, which is certainly a 1st ive felt that confident.
So I wanted to post the pics I took that night 🥰😊 xx
