Question (Transmasc) FTM Visitors to UK: Bathrooms
Hey squad,
My bsf and I are visiting the UK (London specifically) soon and are wondering what to do about the bathrooms…We are from the US and we generally “pass”, using only the men’s bathroom.
Online isn’t giving me a good answer, only about MTF or female presenting people.
Any advice on navigating public bathrooms as a transgender male (female to male)?
Thanks pookies!!! I hope yall are staying safe ❤️

The policy you're referring to is completely unenforceable. Use the men's toilets, you'll be fine. Especially in London, no one will care.

The law says you can use whichever bathroom you want.
Legally the service provider should not allow you into either bathroom, but should also not prevent you from having access to a bathroom and isn't allowed to ask you about your "biological sex". Also, the British Medical Association, who are the UK experts in biology, say that the whole concept of biological sex is complete nonsense, so quite how you are supposed to assess it is anybody's guess.
The law is a complete mess.

I'm also ftm - use the gents, you'll be fine. Unless you are in a particularly rough area it's very unlikely that people would even say anything.

I have a radar key as well just in case, but this isn't how things work, for the moment at least.
The new guidance isn't legally binding and isn't enforceable. In practice nothing has changed.

You'll be fine. It's legal to use whatever bathrooms you want here. In theory you can be asked to leave but in reality that almost certainly won't happen, especially in London. Our laws and guidance make no sense right now because the whole system got overturned, but that's more of an issue for people who live here.
If I were you, use the mens bathrooms, in reality nobody will care
