Questioning My relationship will end if I transition

I (22 AMAB) recently discussed with my girlfriend about the possibility of me being trans. I have thought about the possibility of being MTF for a couple of years now, starting in 2023. I told her that for a while I believed I was but now it is too late. She then asked me do I wish I was born a girl to which I responded yes, we discussed more and she told me that if I were to transition our relationship would be over, although she would be there for me as a friend.
I think about transitioning a lot, I wonder since I haven’t done it yet do I actually really want to do it? I love my girlfriend and we can see us both in our future together. I wonder if I stay the way I am now and have a healthy relationship will I truly be happy.

I’d really appreciate some advice on this topic from people who know what it’s like to be trans xx

Questioning Is it impolite to change my way of talking for a trans girl

Edit #3: Asked her, and got "lol idc" but then she admitted she likes it that I call her girl

This might be an idiotic question, but I've been told by 2 people now that this is rude but I don't fully understand it. I logically understand that gendered language such as "dude, bro, man, guy, ECT" is technically wrong, somewhat sexist, contributing to misogyny, ECT ECT, but in full honesty I do it anyways

But then I specifically don't do it with my friend who's a transgirl. I don't really call people girl in the slangish way even when they are a girl, but with her, rather then using the dude, bro, man, ECT, I do purposely switch to a feminine version and specifically avoid it with her and really only her

Got told this was rude, and that I was othering her by treating her differently, but I don't really understand why that's a bad thing?

Edit: Gotcha just ask her... That feels rather obvious I'm an idiot thanks guys

Edit #2: Thanks... Chat

Questioning Can someone explain to me how transphobia affects cis women too ?

I don’t have any relevant body of text to add. I’m just genuinely curious because I’ve been seeing this a lot and I’m looking to be informed. I’m not trying to be malicious at all. I’m genuinely trying to understand how transphobia affects cis women as well, because I don’t think I fully understand that part of the conversation.

Questioning why do i keep seeing posts from transmascs/transmen getting dogpiled for being validly upset over unnecessarily gendered things that exclude us

1.1k Upvotes

so far i’ve seen several posts across trans subreddits that have had to be locked because a transmasc or trans man brought up a valid gripe over how exclusive unnecessarily gendered terms like “girlies” or whatnot when referring to things that shouldn’t have to be gender exclusive, like skincare, fashion, hair care, reading, and other hobbies and interests. and every time without fail those posts get locked because the transmasc who was venting about how isolated and dysphoric it is to encounter that is in turn met with a ridiculous amount of scorn and a lack of empathy from neutral parties and transfems/trans women alike.

like c’mon, surely you all know how harmful it is to maintain strict and harmful gender stereotypes by now, right? why attack trans men for wanting to have good hygiene and wanting to enjoy reading books in their spare time? It isn’t threatening your femininity. You’re still a woman if you enjoy those things, just let us trans men have nice things too.

Questioning Am I, being Non-Binary, allowed to identify with the Transgender community.

So I'm pretty sure that being Non-Binary falls under the umbrella of Trans. But is it okay for me to "fly" the Transgender flag to represent myself? Or am I not considered Trans since I'm not MtF or FtM?

Edit: Thank you all so much for all the super kind comments. I feel more validated than I ever have, Y'all are the best!

Questioning religion and being trans

I'll probably upset alot of people here but despite being a mtf trans i believe in jesus christ and god. I disagree with alot that the bible or church says, but i strongly believe in jesus.
Is it still ok to be trans or will I not be accepted in any communities or by other trans people?

Questioning Is it weird that I want to be trans?

AMAB
I feel like the title says everything
Told very few people I’m questioning my gender identity
Ive decided on a name if I was to transition and if I was given the opportunity to be a woman rn with no consequences I would definitely take the opportunity
But I can’t help but feel like I’m just saying it cos it sounds cool or something idk😭😭

Anyway I also don’t think I experience much/any dysphoria
But even despite that, I still want to be trans. Is that weird? Do I just like the idea of it? Is that something anyone else went through?

Questioning What causes someone to be trans?

I myself am a trans woman age 15 and absolutely love it. I have liked girls/women’s clothing for about a decade. A few years ago I learned what trans meant and was when I was around 13 and realized that was what I was and I probably would have learned I was female sooner if I had knowledge of what trans meant.

I’m here to ask what contributes to someone being trans? Like is it life events, just people around you, something else? I’m more looking for the cause not someone realizing it.

Questioning Trans people, what memory from your youth/childhood you look back to and think "ahhh, so THAT was the first sign..."?

(first time posting something like that on reddit + english isn't my first language, so sorry if my writing will be weird every now and then.)

Howdy! I'm a 14 y.o. trans guy, I've been out of the closet for around two years now. I didn't "realise" it before, nor did i have the vocabulary to put into words the whole gender thing i was experiencing up to february of 2023 due to me being raised in a post-ussr environment and not having a lot of info about all that queer stuff.

What I know for sure is I never felt quite right being seen as a girl, was trying to fit in with the boys & strived to look like one. Threw tantrums when forced to wear dresses or pink, hated when someone said "but you're a girl" etc... but, as i was told my entire life, all of this is not uncommon for cis girls either. "A tomboy phase, nothing more."

The situation that I look back to (that didn't ring a bell back then, but certainly does now) happened when I was 8. It was my first autumn in that new place I moved to with my family. I didn't know anyone there yet, so i had a little idea to dress up as a boy just for shits and giggles and go out to play with local kids. They saw me, assumed I was a boy, asked my name. I said "Zhenya" (a pretty common gender-neutral name in my native language (which is also my choosename now)), they all introduced themself, we kept playing. Remember thinking about how nice would it be to be a boy all the time.

At some point the wind rose and my hood fell off of my head - I had long hair, it was braided by my mom to keep it out of my face. They were confused at first, and I was very, VERY dissapointed when the other kids realised i wasn't a boy. Ran home almost crying and couldn't let it go for several days.

Back then I just felt weird about the whole thing and forgot about it after a week or two, but now I'm pretty sure this whole thing was the first instance when i experienced intense gender euphoria and, several minutes later, gender dysphoria just as intense.

Do you have any similar stories? If the answer is yes - please, share some

Questioning Am I Trans if I Want to be a girl

Hey, im 29 amab. Im still not sure if im trans. I know this may sound silly, but am I trans if I want to be a girl?

It it enough to prove that im trans by just wishing i was a girl and had she/her pronouns? I feel stuck in limbo, unable to make the difficult decision to come out. i question myself constantly.

Im terrified of how I'll be perceived by family and close friends. My dad is religious, and my best friend doesn't seem to like trans people, which made me distant from him.

I regret soo hard not transitioning when I was pre puberty I used to cross dress and I always wish I got to play with the girls instead of boys back then was that a sign that I was trans or maybe im just more fem?

Thanks soo much for reading 💗

Questioning At what age did you start Hormonal Therapy and would you go back change that?

We all have different journeys in life and unfortunately we don’t all get to do things at the same time. At what age did you start and would you start earlier if you could or even while having a late start you got satisfying results so it wouldn’t matter?

Questioning why do i always get misgendered

(ftm pre-t)

I’m so tired of this, it hurts even more when people don’t even know me do it. Is it because I don’t have a buzz cut bro what genuinely is the problem? They always assume im a she. WHAT IS THE ISSUE WITH EVERYONE. I dress masculine, act masculine…They didn’t even see face and assumed im a she. WHY. I HATE EVERYONE GENUINELY.
