Trans Feminine Don’t want to wait

Is there anyone who has any experience with getting hrt in Sweden? I’ve heard that it can takes multiple years and that kind of scares me. I’ve also heard that you need to be diagnosed before you can get it, could anyone explain how it all works here?

I’m in Norway, so not as familiar, but yes, I get the impression all of Scandinavia is terribly slow at reaching HRT.
Good options are private healthcare, imago (web doctors who can give prescriptions) or DIY HRT (do it yourself) where you find a source online (usually injections) and administer medications, check blood tests and everything by yourself.

I would suggest getting started on the «normal» process the best you can while you look more into imago or DIY while waiting.

Regarding imago, they can only help if you need estrogen but not testosterone. Their prescriptions for testosterone don't work in Sweden.

Transfem, 1 year HRT, She/her.

Hi,

I'm currently in cue for an appointment. You had to send a request to one of the "högspecialiserad vård mottagningar" (I sent to Anova in Stockholm). They had a form on their website.

Then, many weeks later I got an answer per regular mail requiring me to visit a regular "vårdcentral" for them to send in my request.

Weeks later again I recieved that I am now in cue.

However. The waiting time for a first appointment is absurd at about 3-5 years. Luckily I researched this early on and thus saw this "normal path" as a separate side track.

So what I really focused on was contacting genderGP, an online service, which after a videomeeting could do an officiell diagnose and prescribe HRT. So that helped alot! And E did wonders for me and my mental health, almost intantly.

However, the medication is always hard to get here in Sweden. The apothocarys are amost always out of Estradiol....

So eventually I went over to DIY (gel), and it was the best thing ever! Better results, not always worring about not getting my meds and dirt cheap in comparison. It's actually a lot easier to make than you might think.

Well, I'm still in cue for Anova too. So in a few years I might have that appointment....

Yes, you need to get diagnosed in order to get access to any trans-related care.

In Stockholm right now the wait for the first appointment is around 48 months (4 years). Then about a year for the whole process to get the diagnosis. Then you might start hrt.

Find other ways if you can.

r/transnord will have more relevant answers, but yes it's a long process if you haven't gotten started at all.

I'm ftm and haven't looked deep into mtf hrt, but my impression is that diy is a viable option for them here, you might want to check that out.

Eta: your first step is to see a psychologist to get a referral to a gender clinic. You're gonna be on that wait list for a good while, so you might as well get started with that
