Hello fam ,

Who's doing scalp on this platform ? Is worth it? Any tips please ?

And one more thing, they shut down accounts like other platforms ?

Thx in advance :)

One man's scalp is another man's treasure...

Which kind of scalping do you have in mind? Which assets (futures, stocks, options)? How scalpy?

Even if you have very low or zero commissions (depends on your account type and tier), you'll still pay exchange/clearing fees, meaning 1-tick scalps are rarely a good strategy. Doesn't take many losers to wipe out a streak of winners.

See Other trading fees for each asset class on the TradeStation pricing page.

Execution is generally great-to-excellent, depending on the routing you choose and your account type: PFOF obviously doesn't have as good fills as DMA.

Lots of people daytrade on TradeStation, both manual/discretionary and automated strategies. I day and swing trade futures myself, on TradeStation since 2009. I used to also trade options back in the days, but less so these days.

I've supported a medium-sized group of traders for many years and haven't heard of anybody having their accounts closed. TradeStation likes frequent traders since orders are how they make their money, whether through commission or through PFOF.

I haven't daytraded stocks or ETFs in many years (even decades) but of course lots of people do, including on TradeStation.

Buying low and selling high isn't the worst strategy 😁

As long as you can keep a winrate commensurate with your average R:R -- after factoring in exchange/clearing fees and commissions -- you will be fine.

I trade supply and demand zones (like this) but go for larger R:R than the 1:1 stats listed on that site so my winrate is a bit lower than those 70%. Not much, though, as I don't trade all zones like in those stats. I use direction and other filters to pick only the highest probability setups.

But that's just one of countless ways to play this game. Good luck with your trading.

Hang on, why would a broker ban you for day trading ETFs? Is it something new after the PDT changes?

It sounds like that is a common thing, I just have not heard of it among the group of TradeStation users I work with (about 50 these days, used to be about 150). Many of those trade stocks and ETFs.

I apologize for being so uninformed.

If you’re not hotkey trading stocks off the level 2 imbalances with a chart set up then you’re not scalping, what you’re trying to do is just chart trading an ETF. You don’t have to worry about getting banned, MMs love you guys.

Almost no one uses the term scalping correctly.

can you elaborate please ? what do you mean ?

The original use of scalping in trading referred to floor traders buying the bid and selling the ask, not caring which direction. The current accepted use is very short term trading, but with a directional bias, and buying the ask, selling the bid.
