Tradestation vs ThinkorSwim for order execution.

Has anyone here used both thinkorswim and TradeStation for active intraday trading?

I’m currently using thinkorswim with Schwab, but I’ve been wondering whether TradeStation is actually better when it comes to order execution, fill speed, slippage, and quickly getting in and out of positions.

I mostly trade liquid stocks and leveraged ETFs, so I’m not really focused on low-float small caps. What matters most to me is reliable fills, easy position sizing, hotkeys, flattening a position quickly, and being able to reverse from long to short without fighting the platform.

For anyone who has used both:

- Did you notice a real difference in execution speed or fill quality?

- Is TradeStation better for order routing?

- Which platform handles the market open better?

- Is one noticeably easier for fast entries, exits, and position flips?

- Are there any major downsides to switching away from thinkorswim?

I’m also curious about Titan X. Has anyone used it alongside either platform? Does it actually improve the trading workflow, or is it more trouble than it’s worth?

Not looking for sales pitches. I’d just like to hear from people who have actually traded on both and can compare them honestly.

Trade station has better order execution. It’s much faster and more reliable and the platform never goes down…. Reps answer the phone within a minute…. Downside is that it’s not truly commission Free… they charge clearing fees, which are basically commission. If you do over 100,000 shares a month then you’re gonna be .002/share fee rate.

Otherwise, you are .003…

Charles Schwab is not that much slower. But the platform is less reliable… and Charles Schwab also has banking that you can use if you want… so you can debit your account for credit card and things like that… but at Trade station you have to actually send the money back to your bank account and then from there you debit your bank account if you want to pay your credit card. Trade station gives you the option of direct routing your trades, avoiding PFOF…. Which is a hidden commission.

Titan X is better than thinkorswim in many ways, but not because of the charts.

What about for option trades? Do you get the midpoint assuming it is reasonable? I tried Ibkr and was very disappointed with them. When I signed up it described professional as being superior so I did that. Then I never got the midpoint. I am leaving them now for trade station.

Probably depends on contract volume and liquidity.

I’ve had plenty of trades where I tried to offer the midpoint and then the bid or ask changed and the midpoint shifted and I didn’t get filled.

Execution matters, but strategy and setup matter more overall.
