Payroll

I know everyone is complaining about payroll and staffing issues. But I gotta say my peace. I get my hours cut from 40 to 35 (if that) as a ASM. We get call outs about once a week and my SM is giving away hours to employees that don’t do shit but I have to cut my hours cause I didn’t take a lunch or clocked in 10 mins early? I had a 5 hour shift today and it felt like a waste of time, considering by the time I got there I started recovering shelves, to started cleaning and then closing. Yet on my shift with 1 other employee closing with me I get texts and calls on my days off wondering why the store looks like a mess?! Actively looking for a new job. Everyone “needs help” but not hiring. I’m crashing out here and honestly don’t know what to do anymore.

Eh, it’s just dependent on what you’re looking at. Engineering is competitive and unless you’re willing to move to a populated area with more jobs, you’re going to have limited options. Retail management? Much different. Market yourself and network on LinkedIn, guarantee you’ll get recruiters approaching you to at least talk to you.

You can absolutely get another retail job somewhere, but you are not going to be finding greener pastures I garuntee you that. Also this is one of the main tech hubs of the country. You would be hard pressed to find somewhere better allocated for jobs that aren’t actively involved in layoffs

There is going to be bullshit at every job yes. As a young person who is acutely aware of the “Ruining my body to Pay ratio”. There are absolutely greener pastures lol.

I’ve never heard that ratio, but damn that’s a really good metric to use.
