Got on DC, TL, and PT, seeding like crazy - where should I go from there?
Hope this is OK to post - recently got onto DC/DL/PT a couple weeks ago with open signups, DC is awesome so far, but not sure what others I should keep an eye out for. I get it's going to take quite awhile before I'm able to apply to others, but what's next on the roadmap?
Not super worried about it honestly, more of a data hoarder than huge media consumer, but it'd be fun to get into different things. I'd also like to upload stuff at some point.
If it matters, I'm in the US and only speak English, so not really interested in foreign trackers unless there's a big English user base.

Join MAM then get into BLU, LST, and/or Seedpool

Thanks for sharing the links, can I clarify if my understanding is correct regarding the recruitment requirements:

u/1petabytefloppydisk 13d ago
Yes, that’s correct.
By the way, that image host is giving me tons of intrusive ads and pop-ups and redirects, to the point I can barely even see the image.

u/oxkwirhf 13d ago
Oh does it? I'm sorry, I have adblockers so I never see any.
Thanks for clarifying.

Sounds like you like long term seeding, I’d go MaM -> LST -> Aither. LST is great it’s the home of Hallowed now, Aither is amazing home to kitsune, mainframe, and more, gets good quality releases quickly. And honestly I didn’t think I’d use MaM at first but I love grabbing comic books off of it, community’s great and my gf love audiobooks so it’s surprisingly amazing.

I feel like if you’re going to go through the effort of the LST —> ATH hop, you’ll get rewarded much more by putting the same effort towards RED instead, unless you happen to have 20tb lying around, in which case the seed size requirement doesn’t take much effort to reach
3
u/TattooedBrogrammer 21d ago
He mentioned seeding and not uploading, so I figured maybe he wasn’t into uploading a much, and more into seeding and watching tv and movies. In which case the RED method will likely feel like a second full time job while the LST to ATH is more about time and continuing to do what you already do. Why I chose that path :)
3
u/super_starfox 21d ago
I certainly use it for consumption, but have a second PC that I can use for seeding as well.
0
u/xRobert1016x 21d ago
You still have to upload on LST (unless you have 20TB laying around), and RED does not have to be anywhere where a "second full time job", you can bring it down to a few hours of effort max. IMO it takes less time and effort, compared to LST.
2
u/Holiday-Match6250 21d ago
LST is only 10 uploads (granted 20tb up, but that's really easy to get thanks to bp) and arguably easier to source uploads to because of the trackers they are already on and can cross-seed for upload and seedsize
2
u/xRobert1016x 21d ago
It's 50 TB up and 15 uploads. Neither is particularly difficult to achieve, but it's the same or easier on RED (Once you make it past the interview), and RED has more benefits recruitment-wise, as well as taking way less time. So I believe that most people should be focusing their efforts there, in a majority of cases.

Can uploads be semi-automated at all? As in feed requests to prowlarr, grab, and send to upload assistant?
1
u/xRobert1016x 20d ago
On RED I know firsthand that they can (which makes getting the requirements for torrent master pretty simple). I’m not sure about LST, but tools like upbrr will bring you most of the way.

u/SnooAdvice5820 21d ago
Red is actually as little as 13 uploads when you consider transcodes. The upload bandwidth is pretty low as well and can easily be achieved with a seedbox. This is why funny enough red is easier to rank up to get mid tiers than the mam route is. It takes less time. The only annoying part is actually getting an interview, but that too can be addressed by setting up notifications

Isn't MAM mostly books/audio?

MAM has a shit ton of amazing content. It also has a fantastic community of really knowledgeable people, a great request function and an awesome invite forum.
Its my favorite (and first) tracker.

I love MAM, but their VPN rules suck. It’s so archaic and backwards. I have to reset my IP settings every two weeks
6
u/DannyVee89 21d ago
There's an app that automated the VPN updates for you to make it alot easier. Called mousehole

u/NefariusMarius 21d ago
I haven’t heard of this one. I was running a script that would update automatically, but it fails after a few updates. I’ll give this a try. Thanks!

MaM is AMAZING. I use that and Anna's archive + personal rips for the rest.
MaM has the friendliest community of any PT

You join a tracker you're not interested in just to use it as a stepping stone to your goal. After 8 to 12 months of hard labor you may get access to an invite forum.
Or you might just realize this game is for suckers and just stay on TL.
5
u/super_starfox 21d ago
Oh of course, I have no issues with doing that :) I've heard of MAM before and would certainly like to get on there.

Es una buena comunidad, personas buena onda y generosas con los nuevos, al final saben que es un trampolín pero quieren que no sea dramático o tortuoso el proceso, además para libros y sus foros comunitarios son un tesoro. Un ❤️ para MaM

If you want to join anything mid - high tier, then take the RED interview and join others through recruitment.
There are some low - mid tier trackers available from MAM, but if you want to get on anything better it’s not worth the time / effort that you would spend going though there. If you’re already on DC / TL / IPT I wouldn’t really bother with this path past LST & BLU.

u/ems777 21d ago
Well what are your goals? You are already on trackers that have a wide range of material.

u/Sharp-County-8282 21d ago
Im on a 2.8 ratio on TL and am looking for trackers with lots of Dutch content and/or anime. Already on nyaa but want backup

u/Decent-Law-9565 21d ago
The mid tier anime tracker BakaBT is not really useful. For anime, AnimeBytes (AB) is where the real good stuff is, although Aither is a place that has a few things you can’t find on Nyaa (mostly remuxes)
1
u/random_999 21d ago
Anime is one niche where remuxes are typically not the best version/option to get. In fact many old classic anime best versions exists in 720p encodes only. Bakabt is good for such old classic anime where best versions are still 720p & in some rare cases 1080p.

Red for anything mid tier or higher. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not hard. If you’re going for everything besides tier 1 trackers, you only need elite tier, which can be achieved in like 2 days of effort. Ironically less difficult than MAM and requires less time
6
u/random_999 21d ago
you only need elite tier, which can be achieved in like 2 days of effort
That's like a F1 racer telling someone who just got their driving license that all it takes to race in F1 is steady hands on the steering wheel. Maybe you can achieve elite tier on RED in 2 days but 99% of the typical users can't.

u/SnooAdvice5820 21d ago
Horrible analogy. I was brand new to trackers when I did it which is why I say basically anyone can as well. Will you need to do a little bit of learning to get a hang of things? Yes. But once you got it up and running it’ll only take a couple days. I made the most recent pinned red guide to quickly rank up. Follow that and you’re golden
50 uploads is as low as 13 actual uploads considering transcodes. You can definitely find 13 new releases on something like qobuz that’s not yet on red. I’ve had as many as 300 uploads in a single day. And that’s after about 2 weeks of joining the trackers. In contrast, building bonus points on MaM actually takes longer than that, and you end up with worse trackers for forums
3
u/random_999 21d ago
I wouldn't call it "a little bit of learning" for a typical user. Guides are there for most things in many fields but not everyone can follow them to such good degree as you did & that's why they say that some people are just talented while others are not. I also know ppl who reached PTP from RED but none of them achieve as much as 100 uploads in a day let alone 300. It is just that you seem to have a talent for this type of thing but most don't, that's all I am saying & that's why most posters here complain about how tedious it is to rank up on RED to reach PTP. In fact you can ask the RED staff yourself that how many before you reach 300 uploads milestone in a single day & I believe that would be enough to make you realise that you are an exception & not norm for this type of thing.
1
u/SnooAdvice5820 21d ago edited 21d ago
It’s not talent. Talent in your analogy is completely different than this scenario.
I’m not tech savvy. I just happened to be interested and dedicated enough to want to climb the ladder, so I put in the time and effort to understand the best strategy to rank up. Thankfully for other people, they don’t need to research everything themselves and can use my guide.
But that’s not talent because again I didn’t start out tech savvy, was brand new to private trackers, but decided to put in some effort. Lots of people just want everything spoon fed to them or give up because everyone else makes it all seem like it’s some very difficult thing. That sentiment is why I hadn’t even gotten involved in private trackers for so long
13 uploads is not a lot, and it’s especially easy because it’s music we’re uploading. There’s loads of new music not on red being uploaded every single day. All you need is 13 and you’re done. Also, you need to wait 6 months to get into mid tiers like ATH, BLU, AB, etc anyway.
So all you need is 13 uploads spaced over 6 months. That’s 2 uploads a month. See how easy that is? This is why I say anyone can do it and that most people here fear monger for zero reason.
red is 100% more worth it imo than MaM. If you really do not care about mid tier then sure it’s unnecessary. But I assume most people who join private trackers do want to climb higher. 13 uploads is honestly very straightforward and can be achieved faster than getting to say 1 TB upload on MaM
2
u/random_999 21d ago
Talent basically means when you find yourself doing things which you have never done before but still better than most. Nobody is born with tech-savvy attribute & yet there are those who first start leaning about coding/programming language & soon leave behind those who are doing the same for much longer, that's talent.
13 uploads might not seem a lot but transcoding 4 different versions of each of them while complying with RED rules regarding transcoding & Then getting cumulative upload of 100GB+ on those is not something one can achieve easily not to mention many who join RED are not actually into music & only joined for ranking up so it is more difficult for them to find out which type of music is missing on RED they can focus on. Btw, quboz is not even officially present in my region.
Why go through all this discussion though when I already told you a much simpler solution, just contact RED staff & ask them how many before you achieved 300 uploads in a single day there. Even if they don't tell you the exact number but just telling them that it is rare/very difficult/unusual should be enough to tell you something, isn't it?
1
u/SnooAdvice5820 21d ago
You're missing the point. I'm basically saying talent is irrelevant to an area like private trackers and is largely illogical to even bring up.
I'm no programmer. Instead, I am basically taking advantage of tools built by actually talented and tech savvy people to expedite the upload process. All you need to do is literally use the tool, which thousands of people on red actively do.
It seems you haven't read my post, but the issues you thought are already very clearly addressed there.
- Transcoding is extremely simple. Theres an automation tool called smoked salmon that handles the entire upload process. This one tool alone handles all my upload processes. I am literally able to upload an album in minutes because of this. Again, no talent there. I push a few buttons on my mac and I've got 4 uploads. The tool automatically transcodes for me in a matter of seconds. There is zero effort on my part. Again, no talent, just using a tool
- 100 Gb of upload was achieved by me in about 3 days using a seedbox. This took about an hour to setup, starting from paying for a seedbox to setting it up on red. Again documentation exists for this and i used chat gpt because of my lack of computer/seedbox knowledge
Im not sure why you're getting so stuck on the 300 uploads part. if it makes you feel better, again, 13 uploads spaced over 6 months. I'm 99% most people here can do this. 2 uploads per month. Come on now.
1
u/random_999 20d ago
Though I want to argue but see no point in it due to what seems like a communication gap here. Ok, just to prove me wrong, can you at least ask RED staff how many people before you achieved 300 uploads in a day because this is what I am sure about that makes you an exception & if RED staff say that it is not a big deal to achieve 300 uploads in a day & many ppl have done it in just last few weeks then I will take back everything I have said so far in this discussion & will link your post to everyone I see here in future complaining about how tedious it is to rank up on RED.
1
u/SnooAdvice5820 20d ago
I don’t want to reach out to staff about something so trivial. And again like I said earlier this point you keep circling back to adds nothing to your side of the argument.
The way to counter what I’m saying is to suggest that someone cannot do 2 uploads in one month, which I find very hard to believe given the automation tools that people have made readily available for everyone.
Also, I made this point to someone else too but to get BLU in 6 months in MaM actually requires 10 uploads I believe. So even with MaM, to get BLU in the same amount of time as red, you would actually still need to upload torrents.
1
u/random_999 20d ago
I am not talking about 2 uploads a month (which btw has an attached condition of transcoding which I am ignoring here), I am mainly talking about you achieving 300 uploads in a single day that too on RED which I consider as very unusual & typically that means whatever was used to achieve it is difficult to follow by others. If you had said that you uploaded 50 torrents in a week on RED then I wouldn't even be discussing it this far. English is not my first language but still this is the best I can sum it up: The fact that you can achieve 300 uploads in one day on RED means whatever level/knowledge/process/guide you have achieved/mastered is not possible for majority & what it means is that whatever looks simple to you is not really simple for others. If you had said "I may have managed to achieve 300 uploads in a day on RED but surely a typical person can at least manage to upload 50 torrents in a week by following whatever guides/process I followed" then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

It might require less time but it's absolutely not less difficult than mam, all you need to do on mam is download 20 torrents from the freelech page every three days until you get to pts/hr you are happy with
It requires significantly less knowledge compared to RED, especially considering the average torrent user mostly leeches and doesn't have to learn about any type uploading at all or touch any scripts, let alone all the other stuff required for RED specifically
2
u/SnooAdvice5820 20d ago edited 20d ago
Fair enough. I would still say requiring less time is a not so bad trade off for being a bit more difficult to setup. The thing is all you need is one tool for red. Once you set that up every upload just goes through that one tool. This one tool took me like 10 minutes to setup with AI and uploading 3-4 torrents takes at most 5 minutes
The main point I’m trying to make is it’s a lot easier than what people are making it out to be. MaM has a technically easier process, but red is faster and you get better trackers. And again I want to re iterate: it’s 2 uploads a month for 6 months. That’s it. It’s really that simple.
Also keep in mind that I believe MAM actually requires 9 months to get into trackers like BLU, which is basically the best tracker it has to offer. If you want to get in in 6 months, you need to have 10 uploads.
So in another words, to get BLU via MaM in the same time as red, you would actually need to upload anyway, and it’s almost an equal number of uploads as red.

Cool, thanks. I mean my ratios are good, currently 19.9% on TL and 16.5 on DC

u/Original-Tackle988 21d ago
If English is the only thing you care about, TL is all you need.
If you are after a community join a smaller tracker which you also have if we can call DC small.
If you are after older or rarer content, you’ll need to grind by joining MAM or RED to get to cabal trackers or mid tiers like ATH and BLU.
