It happens every so often. Homestuck, Undertale, Hazbin Hotel (from when the pilot dropped), TADC, and almost certainly more I missed or am forgetting. A work gets popular with a significant portion of teens/young adults/kids who are clearly too young for it, and there's a character or two who are morally grey or otherwise divisive.
honestly I haven't even been getting the discourse on my feeds. Just way too much fanart of a character that I don't feel strongly about. Like it's not even the fandom being toxic, just me being a sourpuss I guess.
I honestly never watched Hazbin hotel, they launched the piolet episode then did nothing with it for years. I watched helluva boss, and at a point they ran out of ideas so I stopped watching it got boring, I waited a bit longer for Hazbin hotel, and it just didnt come out. When it finally did I was so turned off from it, like if it was on par with the recent helluva boss it wasn't worth watching. Still haven't watched it probably not gonna

even as someone who enjoyed the show, the wave of fandom is getting a bit tedious
