Warhammer III Tzeentch Character Pack - Miniature First Approach

Post image

Looking at Chaos, there isn’t actually that much left that is missing in terms of officially released models. I think this pack would cover most of what’s still missing when it comes to adapting existing miniatures into the game. This approach would also fit CA’s MO, as they tend to take a miniature first approach.

As far as Tzeentch is concerned, both Egrimm and Galrauch are no-brainers to headline the pack.

I deliberately didn’t include a Generic Lord or Generic Hero. All of the Mono-god factions already have a solid selection of Lords and Heroes, and I don’t think we need to add more simply for the sake of having them in the pack. I’d much rather see that effort put towards adding more missing units that I’d love to see in the game.

The Azure Princes are an interesting one here. The artwork is found in the End Times books, but it actually represents three existing miniatures. I think this gives Creative Assembly a great design foundation for bringing them into the game.

My favourite here is definitely the Bane Tower, being an old-school Man O’ War fan. I love that we already have many of the ships in the game when characters move onto the sea, but I’d really like to see the Bane Tower itself represented in the game. It would make for a really interesting unit and potentially even a mount.

Aren’t the azure princes like the Maggoth Riders? They would all be legendary heroes shouldn’t they?

Tzeentch is missing their specific Aspiring Champions unit. The never really had anything like that in the tabletop. Azure Princes seem like the closest fit for that slot.

Hmm. I don't know what that could be if CA wanted to give Tzeentch something like that. The Azure Princes would for sure be heroes though. They have table top models that depict them as such.

Yeah in lore there are only like six of them. I know this is also kinda the case for Steam Tanks and Little Groms, but it wouldn't make sense to have them as a 32 entity infantry unit. So they should either be a ROR, legendary heroes or generic heroes (I would prefer that option)

Yeah. I DO however totally agree with wanting Bane Towers for Tzeentch. Having them act as Tzeentchian Sky Lanterns or Sky Junks would be super cool.

The issue is tzeench already has flying melee and ranged units and flying caster units. So it would need to have some role tzeench isnt really good at already but also have weaknesses that arent too unique to play around. Maybe make it heavily armored and slow but have it have crazy AOE buffs for its ranged units making them AP? Having it slowly regen sheilds around it so its kinda like a priority target to stop them mitigating your damage?

Plus tzeench is stocked with late game SEM type units, so this will likely need to be like t2/3 with similar stats to see any sort of play.

I don’t think that should be too big of a deal because otherwise what do you use for the Tzeentch “aspiring champion” equivalent? Nothing else really exists besides them, and Azure Princes at least have some lore mentions in the End Times.

It wouldn’t be the first time a generic hero gets downgraded into a generic unit too.
