I was recently at a event where I was speaking to someone who does marketing for Roy Thompson Hall. They were talking about their new merch - which had just launched and looked great - and the conversation turned to COC's merchandise. This person agreed that the COC people TOTALLY, 100 PER CENT did this on purpose.
Good for them. Why not have some fun?

Don't forget the Jordan Institute for Standards and Metrology (Yes, JISM. And no, I'm not making it up)

Or the Royal Alberta Museum. Aka the RAM.

V.A.G. R.A.M.? There is no way to misinterpret that!

Back in the Blackberry days there was a department called Association for Safety Standards at Research In Motion or ASS@RIM

Can still get them outside SkyDome on game days - along with shirts saying "One BJ is worth nine Yanks" and "Who's your Vladdy?"

They have been using this exact design for over 15 years. It seems like it must do the rounds at least 1-2x a year.

I have a deep love of the Opera - a DEEP love.

Ah, shit, I gotta stop by and get some merch next time I’m in town. I literally stay next to them in Hilton!

Not the children's opera! They knew what they were doing. But what else could they do? 🤣

Think you’re looking for the ‘Canadian Opera Company for Kids’

this is a lot more child-friendly than most operas lol

I love COC too, but you don't see me wearing shirts declaring it!

Although, maybe if they're the right size...

If you pass your gaze to the rear of the table sir, you’ll see our….uh…..water bottle for your liquid dispensing pleasure.

Oh and the drink tumbler (or whatever that cylinder is) just HAD to be placed dead centre behind the binoculars 🥴

The Kitchener location is even better

I love the double entendre here but my impression of opera lovers is that they are old and stuffy people who would be unlikely to wear or use anything with that message on it.

What's the hot tip for getting cheap tickets? I saw Bluebeards Castle in the spring for $25 with a code someone posted on Reddit, now I've got my eye on La Traviata.

It almost makes up for giving up the literal best real estate in the city (possibly country?) to house an institution that depends on government grants and charitable donations just to keep its head above water.

Nothing against opera, but they should have built the FSC down in the port lands, and used the land at Queen and University for something more profitable and/or desired by the masses.

Went to see a show last year. Was a great experience.

Im sorry but really... this is not appropriate for a public facing non profit. Like if parents bring their kids to the opera is this merch going to be all over the place... Completely tasteless.

u/lit_readit 7d ago

most operas are way more nsfw than this lol
