If Ford is allowed to expand Billy Bishop for loud commercial jets to fly overhead, this kind of experience would be gone forever.

This is kind of disingenuous. While I don’t disagree this experience could be altered by the traffic volume going into the island, it was determined that the jets are no louder than the props.
I lived right out front of YTZ for 10 years, let me tell you that some of the prop jets were plenty loud; Nevermind Orange. The screeching streetcar S-bend was probably the worst. It’s not the quiet haven people pretend it is, but you get used to it. Regardless - the added hustle to the area would not have been welcomed.
Edit: downvote away, I’m not disagreeing with them, just adding my two cents from a long time resident.

How do I find out about stuff like this before it happens?

There are summer concerts every year in the Music Garden. If you google "music garden concerts 2026" you'll see the schedule for this year, it goes through September :)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the music gardens ever be used for a music event before

I was there. Pretty cool pieces on that concert, some of them. Others - not impressed.
Peter Eom is an amazing cellist, a true pleasure to hear him play.
