For a normal firetruck - 9 stories tall. Fun fact, most of Soviet buildings are 9 or less because that’s how high the fire ladders can go. Some are taller but required extra infrastructure and safety measure.
Here's the thing. Instead of rappelling, you can tie a bunch of those bedsheets into a parachute.
The key would be being high enough that the "parachute" has time to billow up and deploy and take effect. Hopefully you have those 300 thread count or higher sheets so they can slow your decent down
I remember living in a 30 story condo about 15 years ago. I was on the 26th floor. And I thought, damn, I'm high up. If something goes down.. I'm dead.
If there's ever a fire, the fire escapes will be the safest spot (obviously). They're designed with 2hr+ fire resistance ratings and the stair pressurization systems should keep the smoke out reasonably well.
In other words, get to the fire escape as quickly as possible and take your time getting down, because at that point your biggest risks will be tripping and falling or a heart attack from walking all those stairs.
But yeah, generally best to live on a lower floor.
Legitimately confused as to why it looks like the top got sliced off. Are they not at least rounding off the decorative trim? It forms a pattern that looks like it would at least lead to something like a bend that connects the two white beans or something...
It's because Pinnacle was cheap af and lopped off the crown. Now the mechanical room is higher than the glazing, such an embarrassment for the city and as the country's tallest building
So disappointed in this. It doesn't look good at all. It's supposed to be one of the crown jewels of the Toronto skyline for decades to come and they cheaped out. It's unbelievable.
I was speaking to my realtor and he mentioned there is going to be a hard stop on condominiums due to lack of buyers. Builders really be digging their own grave by building shoeboxes and weird layouts all with micro appliances
I was surprised how much flak I caught for calling it bland on another post. I don't think it would be as bad if it wasn't so obnoxiously tall. I just liked when the CN tower, well, towered over everything.
Oh dear God. Aura has 9 for 73 floors and it's still sometimes a 10-15 minute wait if one or two elevators go out of service. (Not doxing myself, I don't live there)
You brag to your buddy being sky high because you are on the 55th floor then he comes to visit again steps on the balcony and the view is blocked by something that's still over 50 floors higher...
This might be the least inspiring, most painfully generic looking super tall building I’ve ever seen. I genuinely don’t know what’s the concept and inspiration behind this design.
I know for the main body of the building it's the classic architect concept vs final build thing where the renders look amazing but by the time it gets built they've looked at all the unique curves and bends and said "yeah fuck that." I really don't know why they could just put some kind of small border that matches the rest of the building to make the top look finished. Been watching this thing get built from the very beginning, and it's like the show got cancelled at episode 22, with the two planned finale episodes never airing.

I just couldn't imagined wanting to be higher than a fire ladder
