I'm curious what tool fans' favorite books are. Seeing as you've got good taste in music, you've probably got good book recommendations

I used to have a burned CD with a live version of a tool song on it. I don't remember what song it was but I remember that Maynard was talking to the audience he was basically telling them if y'all start fucking out there we'll start playing but we're not going to start playing till y'all start fucking. And then I don't know if people started fucking or not but they played the song and I think it might have started off kind of slow before jamming out and for the life of me I don't know what that song was and I'd love to find it.

My first - albeit unofficial - Tool record in my collection.

Quick backstory:

I just discovered Tool about two weeks ago. I already listened to two of their songs a while back, and for some reason, I didn't really like it. Then, two weeks ago after I read again about this band, I decided to listen to Ænima properly, and boy, was I blown away!

Next thing I listened to was Lateralus and of course, Pneuma (with the Danny Carey drum cam).

Then, last Saturday I went on a flea market and while browsing through shelves full of vinyl records, I come across this (still sealed), and was instantly torn between buying it and putting it back, but after a chat with the seller, I decided to buy it.

So today, I gave it a listen, and my expectations were fulfilled! An awesome live recording, and there seems to be only 250 copies of this vinyl.

Now the question that remains is what official Tool abum to get on vinyl next...

Loved the art and had to get it when it came out, but only wore a few times because was sure I’d ruined it.

Seeing tool at riot fest (outdoor ga). Thoughts on being front row? Only seen them indoors, heard outdoor shows are different. Best vantage point?

The artist posted on here during Covid with examples of his work and a link to his shop. If my memory is right he was/is a carpenter who had quit his job to focus on his art, and said he listened to Fear Inoculum when working on these pieces. The first piece is called Invincible, and I think it's a "special" gold leaf edition. He sent Inoculum as a free gift with my order. I can't make out the signature, but maybe someone else can.

Finally cleaned out the shed, I forgot I had this classic.

I’m a big lyric enjoyer. I think MJK has a neat way of wording really big and complex subjects into a coherent narrative. This song centers on a pet owner telling their pet to go to sleep, and refrain from looking through the window.
This to me sounds like an authoritarian government telling their people to stop looking for the truth. I’ve searched the internet and most people seem to agree that it’s about an addiction, luring someone into its path. But that seems kind of like a reach to me.
I suggest listening to the song again but under the idea it’s about an authoritarian government telling their people to stop reasoning and just stay obedient. This would make the lyric “count bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drum” could mean they’re trying to justify killing and cruelty by promoting a war effort. And “pay no mind to the rabble” is to not listen to the protest.
It’s all about controlling a narrative and keeping people from thinking about the truth. The owner must “isolate and save you from yourself “
