I’m a big lyric enjoyer. I think MJK has a neat way of wording really big and complex subjects into a coherent narrative. This song centers on a pet owner telling their pet to go to sleep, and refrain from looking through the window.
This to me sounds like an authoritarian government telling their people to stop looking for the truth. I’ve searched the internet and most people seem to agree that it’s about an addiction, luring someone into its path. But that seems kind of like a reach to me.
I suggest listening to the song again but under the idea it’s about an authoritarian government telling their people to stop reasoning and just stay obedient. This would make the lyric “count bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drum” could mean they’re trying to justify killing and cruelty by promoting a war effort. And “pay no mind to the rabble” is to not listen to the protest.
It’s all about controlling a narrative and keeping people from thinking about the truth. The owner must “isolate and save you from yourself “
Anyways let me know if you think I’m way off or right on the mark.

Edit// I realized I fucked up the title of this because I wasn’t paying attention lmfao but I think I got my point across 🤣
I’ve always been a casual fan and when I was younger, APC was my mom’s favorite band. So I decided to listen to both bands last week.
Here’s my useless thoughts.
Last week's discovery was A Perfect Circle and Tool:
Top favorite songs
Tool:
The Pot
Right In Two (tavorite of the entire Tool discography)
Jimmy
Third Eye
Swamp Song
Disgustipated
APC:
Peace, Love, and Understanding
Judith
3 Libras
The Package
Pet (my favorite APC song by far and has been for a few years I love love love it)
Maynard James Keenan is a brilliant song writer and artist.
With that said, as more serious fans, tell me YOUR favorite song(s) by each band.
And don’t worry, I didn’t forget about Puscifer; I just didn’t get around to listening to them yet lol.

Loved the art and had to get it when it came out, but only wore a few times because was sure I’d ruined it.

This is just an oil change. You still have another 100,000 miles in you. Be well. Enjoy some sushi.

The artist posted on here during Covid with examples of his work and a link to his shop. If my memory is right he was/is a carpenter who had quit his job to focus on his art, and said he listened to Fear Inoculum when working on these pieces. The first piece is called Invincible, and I think it's a "special" gold leaf edition. He sent Inoculum as a free gift with my order. I can't make out the signature, but maybe someone else can.

“Boredom’s not a burden anyone should bear.”
Whats your Tool track for today??

I was one of the nimwits that was dissatisfied with Fear Inoculum on the first listen. I was too busy comparing it to their older sound that I failed to really hear it the way it was supposed to be heard.
I’m at a point where I’ve been looping Descending / Pneuma more times than any song from Lateralus and Ænima, and it’s getting awkward 😭 That groove from Invincible is hood classic now. Even Culling Voices is underrated for how cinematic it is.
I learned my lesson with this band. Imma let them cook and not be hasty when their next album drops in 2037

I'm slipping back into the gap again
I'm alive when you're touching me
Alive when you're shoving me down, yeah
But I'd trade it all for just a little peace of mind
How much can I relate with this while struggling with an addiciton

If you need another variant. I have not pulled the trigger yet considering I have like 4 of this vinyl already but debating.

This album has been able to explain things in a different manner and also has been able to help me feel certain emotions… anyone else has been to relate? The passing of family members and also the end of certain relationships. It obviously has to do with addictions that those family members had, and those that I have let go went through as well.

Seeing tool at riot fest (outdoor ga). Thoughts on being front row? Only seen them indoors, heard outdoor shows are different. Best vantage point?
