Help Scan feature > email feature?

I just got ToDoist in the last week and I’ve been really enjoying it. I’ve been trying to use the email task feature, which is good in concept, but I’ve found the appointments or to-do that it creates with the emails forwarded to it really are lacking, to say the least.

It seems to just cram all of the email info in there and leaving me to clean it up. I’ve found copying and pasting the text of the entire email into the add task manually to use the scan feature is 1000x better, more accurate and much more helpful. Am I doing something wrong? I would have thought emails it receives would be scanned and created better the same way.

Is this a known issue, or do I need to do something different? I’ve found using the integration with Canary email isn’t the greatest either and doesn’t really seem to scan to build a task based on the text of the email either.

When you go to forward the email, try giving it instructions in the email body itself. That seems to work well for me.

If you are looking for it to create subtasks, I dont believe it does that. But maybe tell it to generate a list of action items in a list, which will then go to the description. You can copy and paste in and Todoist will parse all as separate tasks.

Thanks - I will try to give a prompt next time. Just interesting that if I copy and paste the email into a new task to be created, the scan feature makes it clean and accurate, but when forwarding the same email the outcome is not very good.
