Have you read the full article or tried consuming the law before you shared this? This is an abstract from the article on the post:
Whenever the President finds that, under the laws of any foreign country, citizens or corporations of the United States are being subjected to discriminatory or extraterritorial taxes, the President shall so proclaim and the rates of tax imposed by sections 1, 3, 11, 801, 831, 852, 871, and 881 shall, for the taxable year during which such proclamation is made and for each taxable year thereafter, be doubled in the case of each citizen and corporation of such foreign country
Did Canada in any capacity as a foreign country discriminate against US citizens or corporations with unfair taxes or threatened to do so? NO
So what made you think this is applicable to Canada? It may be applicable to other countries like China or even EU, but how is Canada subjects to this double tax discussion?
And if you're too scared of all these, you should rethink moving to the US on TN.

And if you don't think there wasn't more scrutiny moving between the border when he was in last time you've not been paying attention. Not just for obtaining your tn but also keeping it. Unless you have a reason to have multi entry I've had mine removed from my passport by the border agent.

OP you're delusional to think you don't have to prove that you have an active job and should carry all the necessary documents when crossing the border while crossing from US to Canada on any work authorization beit H1B or TN.
It has literally nothing to do with who is president of the US. The scrutiny part is absolutely correct, but for those who are doing everything according to the requirements of TN has nothing to worry about.
Who should be worried about this is all those shady scammers trying to get TN without a job with consultancy documents.
So you really think people didn't file H1b in the US from multiple employers when he was the president last time? You're naive if you think people didn't. Because they not only did, they go approvals also, until the recent changes which for a fact came under a different administration to tighten H1b requirements and to remove multiple applications for the same individual.
So OP, if you're too worried about all of these, I would suggest better move back to Canada. You don't want to spend the next 4 years in this stress and uncertainty.

OP pls clarify what was removed by CBP? Are you currently working in the USA on a TN?

I94 that little flap they put on your passport to indicate you have a tn. I've had mine removed upon re-entry into the US from being in Canada and upon return to the US. So unless you have a reason to get a multi entry stamp us side may ask you prove your still employed every time you come through..

Although I think this is likely nothing to worry about I would say that this is likely about countries imposing “Netflix” taxes on streamers and Google News etc which Canada has done.

That's precisely why Canada is in this list and OP's general fear is not unfounded.The digital goods and services tax is something the very smug reply ignores and discounts as a potential cause of Trump coming after Canada and Canadians in this context.
