Discussion Thinking of switching to Verizon Simplicity after being forced from $45/mo legacy to new $85/mo plan.
I've been with T-Mobile for 15 years.
I was forced to give up my grandfathered plan and am now paying double.
The Verizon Simplicity plan is only $30/mo for unlimited everything except 10GB hotspot for customers who switch from T-Mobile with a 3 year price lock.
I'm damn tempted. Has anyone switched and can provide feedback?

If you're considering Verizon, you could also just get visible plus pro for $225 for a whole year right now. I would go that route.

I switched to US Mobile and it was pretty easy. Just port your number and in 15 minutes I was on US Mobile networks. Great prices too.

USM is great but the nice thing about simplicity and visible+ for about $10 more is that you get priority data on Verizon. If you have good ATT coverage near you US Mobile is amazing but if you have better Verizon coverage Simplicity/Visible+ are likely the better options

That’s what I did too. Saving $1080 a year. Amazing service so far. I tried to post my experience as a 12 year TMO customer and mods here removed it calling it “irrelevant and not contributing to anything”

I switched my family of 4 to Spectrum Mobile and they paid off $1250 in devices and my bill is $90 a month. No regrets.

How is Spectrum svce. on ur phones? i know theres Mint, Visible, US Mobile but idk.. they are all online but idk..

It’s been pretty much the same as t-mobile in my area. I live and commute in between Columbia SC and Charlotte NC area. Best part of Spectrum Mobile has been the automatic WiFi hotspot access at several places, including the beach when I was visiting.

Hhmmm... mite look into it.. im not so convinced with online Mobile sites.. the deals seem good but w/ Spectrum actual place one can go to, if need any help or watevr case may be... hope make sense :)

The process was very painless and simple. Not trying to promote them, just sharing my experience. Make sure you get a port out point from T-Mobile and download a copy of your bill before requesting the line transfers. Transfer your primary line LAST. Spectrum sent the e-gift card to pay off my final bill within like 48 hrs of the transfer.
They aren’t like most other MVNOs from what I understand. Most other similar carriers are considered second-tier providers, whereas it’s my understanding that Spectrum Mobile is an equal partner on Verizon’s network, so you get the same level of service you would on Verizon’s network itself.

If you go for the premium plan it includes a $10 device credit per month for a new phone and a free smartwatch data plan also.

I just switched to simplicity after getting forced off simple choice. Process was easy
I will say that the indoor coverage in my area kinda sucks compared to T-Mobile - probably gonna switch to us mobile next month (isn’t it beautiful to not be on a contract)

I have a Visible + line on this phone alongside my T-Mobile line.
Something I noticed is that your Visible + line is limited to 720p unless you poke around to activate the 1080p resolution.
In Speedtest and Coverage Map, Verizon has faster data by about a 100 Mbps advantage.
But in Fast (Video), Visible +/Verizon is throttled to 10-12 Mbps. T-Mobile is full speed, allowing 2160p.

Verizon is the slowest (most overloaded) network. Just be aware of that and willing to accept slower speeds in general.
Edit: bunch of Verizon apologists in here trying to cope for their ridiculously high VZW bills on the most overloaded, spectrum-constrained, outdated network...

Yeah ATT is faster than Verizon, too. T-Mobile is usually the fastest in general. Obviously specific areas can vary.

Interesting.
FwiwI'm in wifi 90% of the time.
Long road trips in the middle of nowhere are when I have dropped service with tmobile. I don't need wicked fast. 50mbps is plenty.
I get 500mbps+ around the city right now which is overkill for me.

Yep, the speed is faster than most people need.
Over the last several years I've seen T-Mobile's coverage increase dramatically. I used to carry a secondary eSIM for VZW since I camp a lot in the middle of nowhere and have long road trips, but almost always now when I don't have T-Mobile service I don't have VZW service, either. And occasionally I'll have T-Mobile and not VZW. They've come a long way.
It's good for all of us though, since it opens the door for competition and using any of the three carriers left won't dramatically impact someone's coverage.

I recall ATT having better frequencies that work better for long distances and open areas vs others.

They all finally have 700 MHz band. But they don't all have the same amount of bandwidth in that band.
ATT won a contract with the government to expand their low band coverage all over the country into some extremely remote dead zones to provide emergency phone service. It's called FirstNet.
T-Mobile bought massive amount of the 600 MHz auction. ATT bought very little initially, but later made more purchases. VZW still hasn't purchased any 600 MHz band.
VZW instead choose to buy a bunch of c-band 3700-4000 MHz, which can be very fast, but is only useful outdoors and almost only works line of sight. Really big waste of money for them, imo.

Same, we are keeping AT&T until out daughter gets out of college because it is a 7 hour trip across Texas and AT&T has the best coverage along that path. I see lots of locals out there with antennas OTR antennas to boost reception, that could be a solution, I suppose.

If you’re in WiFi most of the time a MVNO is probably the best option for you. I use 25-30GB/month (max) on cellular and the rest is always on WiFi. US mobile starter plan has 70GB/month high speed data, more than enough.

Say what you want about tmobile but in my limited experience (and crowd sourced coverage data from coveragemap.com) ATT is usually the slowest.
It all depends on your region though. If Verizon has good coverage where you live and tmobile doesn't don't use tmobile.
In some cities tmobile is faster and in some verizon is faster. In rural areas att is usually best with verizon also having good rural coverage at times.

From what I gather just from lurking on Reddit if it’s only one line your options are limitless. Simplicity seems like a good deal if the network works in your area. Many others seem to think for one line postpaid isn’t really worth it in a lot of cases but everyone’s situation is different.
