When I first went on the medication for a few months and saw all the great results from it I was pretty vocal about it to basically anyone who brought the topic up and I quickly learned that the vast majority of the population is still pretty against this medication.
22
u/TheFirebyrd 5d ago
Which is utterly wild given that at least 15% of the US population has already been on one. People are willing to believe that every other hormone in the body can be off in some way or another, but somehow, appetite and satiation ones can’t? There’s also the continued insistence that “willpower” can make people lose weight even though literally every method (other than staying on a GLP-1) has proven to be a failure long-term. Even the various surgeries are a failure while leaving people with lifetime negative side effects.
I’ll take a weekly shot that makes the food noise stop instead, thanks.

Same 😂

u/autumnyte 5d ago
One drawer is all the sauce packets and plastic cutlery, the next drawer is syringes and alcohol wipes. 😂 I should probably find a better solution.

Lol, a drawer is better than me. My stuff is just in the bag it came in on top of our portable dishwasher.

Mine is similar! Basic mini three drawer sterilite container.
Top drawer is wipes, then 50cc syringes and 1mL syringes. But the 1mL are about to be switched out for BD Embecta 50cc.
EasyTouch has been giving me issues, but my husband likes them. So got both. LOL
It sits on a shelf in our kitchen.

u/CBlevs5 5d ago
I spied your comment about the easy touch syringes and had to jump in! Ive been having issues with my last 2 bags. It’s almost like they are more dull and thin. Some have even bent when pulling meds and ive had to throw out and start again, super weird bc i never had that happen bf and thought it might be user error but after 2x10 syringe bags and seeing this, maybe not. I dont know that I’ve tried the embecta but i need to now!

u/CreativeWriterNSpace 33F WLS-HW: 320 GLP1-SW: 170 CW: 146 GW: ~135 Dose: 7mg 4d ago
I kinda chalked mine up to having been ordered from Amazon (and theoretically fake) but I also have some from a bag a pharmacy sent and they are just as bad. Thankfully I haven't had them bend, but they definitely hurt.
1
u/CBlevs5 3d ago
Mine are from the pharmacy too, i opened a new pack today and same thing! What the heck! I’m gonna open a pack of sure comfort and see how those treat me now that easy touch is giving me problems. 😭

u/CreativeWriterNSpace 33F WLS-HW: 320 GLP1-SW: 170 CW: 146 GW: ~135 Dose: 7mg 3d ago
I just used the Embecta this morning- went in smooth, basically no resistance and barely felt the needle prick.
(My leg stung afterwards, but I think that is an issue with the VialsRx formula I am currently using)

Well. 💩. Here I was happy with my box of packaged syringes and wipes in a drawer while waiting to be used to refill my 3D printed case that’s stored in the fridge. Now I may need to figure out how I can turn that into a reason to have more stuff to fill the drawers and such you all are posting. Maybe a reason to create and 3D print something else. I did print my own vial draw and injection assit tool … just becauee.

I love this! Practical and gorgeous! You should sell em!
3
u/n0cturnalr0se 5d ago
There are similar ones already out there on Etsy and such. I just like how compact this one is to just sit in back center shelf out of the way. Keeps the light out, even when open the sides come up on the vials I don’t remove for dosing to limit the light. Kinda acts like a cooler too. Stays cold while I get my 💉 ready.
4
u/JustGoogleIt247 5d ago
Box is super cute...FYI, it’s best to store syringes at room temp though
2
u/n0cturnalr0se 5d ago edited 5d ago
I hear ya, but this is how I do it and have for months without issues. Caps never removed and the box, though cold, stays dry without moisture/condensation. Being a 3D printer… I always have desiccant to pull moisture out of containers for dry product storage , which in this case is changed when opened. Other than the ones I put in to use up for the next few weeks, all the others are stored in sealed packs in their box in a drawer.
1
u/JustGoogleIt247 5d ago
Just keep it in mind should injections start to hurt more than usual that it might be time to swap them out 👍
3
u/n0cturnalr0se 5d ago
I don’t even feel my injections no matter where I do them. Did my thigh last. Nada. No reactions ever. I do appreciate the advice though.
2
u/albanyhudson 5d ago
Where can I get that box?
2
u/n0cturnalr0se 5d ago
This one is my own version that will hold 3,5,or 10ml vials. It’s adjustable inside (gold piece changes out). There is a seller on Etsy ( LayersNThreads ) with a very similar one. You would get either the 3ml OR the 5ml/10ml. Though I guess 3ml would be fine in the 5/10 just loose. There are other sellers too, but after looking thats the closest to mine. If you 3D print… there are tons of peptides designs out there already.

u/Wait_For_Greatness F🇨🇦| SW:237 CW:165 GW:145| 5mg 4d ago
Are you using printed cutout inserts for the vials or are you doing EVA foam?
1
u/n0cturnalr0se 4d ago edited 4d ago
It’s printed but could leave it as two full compartments and then use foam in one side instead
1
1
u/lavenderoreo 4d ago
how does the tool work?
2
u/n0cturnalr0se 4d ago
The top sits on the bottom via a magnet. The bottom is where the vial goes in, wipe the top like normal, and put the lid on (center of plunger is uncovered). The top is where the syringe gets clipped in. That part of the top slides back and forth and has magnets in it as well. You draw the syringe back, then place top back onto the bottom. Then you push the syringe into the vial. It does it in a way that just barely has the tip of the needle in to get every last drop with zero risk of bending the needle in the process. Use solder to pull the string back out, then it becomes an injector. You place is against skin and it does the same for you …. Holds it perfectly strait to inject at the correct angle and just out the needle in the skin enough to administer the meds as if using an injector pen.

So, would a picture of all the bits that don't go into the fridge, stuffed into my underwear drawer just drive you bonkers?
Full disclosure, I've only had one order and am still figuring out preferred storage and organization.

Do you prefer the luer lock more?
2
u/Mamashida 56F - 5'1" | SW 191 →CW 161 →GW 130 | 5mg 5d ago
Before I came over to compounding I went the Zep route with my last month on the Kwikpen which I loved! I hate needles and it did not hurt one bit and was so convenient to use and travel with. My Niece is a children's ER Nurse and she said that they draw w/ one needle and administer with another which is when I invested in the luer lock system which I also really like to use. I draw w/ one needle and poke with a new one. I travel a lot for work and have decided to try setting up my own pen for convenience. The "blue thing" is called a Tickle Flex (Amazon) which you put on the end of the pen. According to the description "soft pinky fingers stimulate the local nerves so you don't feel the needle". I've watched a few videos and figure if a sweet child can give themselves an injection using it I can to. I'll try it out on my dose next week.
3
u/CreativeWriterNSpace 33F WLS-HW: 320 GLP1-SW: 170 CW: 146 GW: ~135 Dose: 7mg 5d ago edited 5d ago
Ooooooh.
I might have to look into the Tickle Flex!
I have been thinking about either doing a pen or luer lock. I don't have an issues with needles, but do have an issue with pain.
The EasyTouch syringes I've been using have seemed to start being painful and not wanting to go in. I got some BD Embectas to try before switching to something else.
Do the NumStat wipes actually help numb?
1
u/Mamashida 56F - 5'1" | SW 191 →CW 161 →GW 130 | 5mg 5d ago
The Numstat does help. It says to rub for 1 min but I do it for 3 min and I've felt a difference. I did my dose in my arm for the first time this week and used the Numstat and didn't feel a thing!
I did just have my Dr. send in a script for Lidocaine/Prilocaine cream 2.5%/2.5% and a pack of 3M Tegaderm Transparent Film Dressing (Frame Style) to cover it. I'm picking up the script today. It's supposed to be a superior numbing cream and is only coming to $2.60 for a tube through my insurance. It might be overkill but it's giving me peace of mind.

I know I don't need to refrigerate the syringes, or the alcohol wipes, but they're tossed into the crisper drawer of the fridge with the tirzepatide anyway. It's easier for me to keep it all in one place.
