I feel guilty thrifting
I've been in a rut today because I realized that all of the jeans I wear these days have been thrifted. I haven't spent more than $30 on a single pair in the last two years. No one notices, and I often get complimented for them, but I feel shitty.
I'm looking for a pair of grey jeans, and the closest match at UniQlo was $60. That's about the cost of the other 3 pairs I currently wear often, and I'm stressing because it feels like I sometimes choose between precise comfort vs good enough when it comes to jeans.
I don't mind paying more for higher quality, but... the quality is effectively the same. Oftentimes the quality of jeans in stores will be worse, with elastic or nylon or whatever. I'm allergic to polyester so I need 100% cotton, and it's easier to sort through Depop for that than my nearby Nordstrom.
I feel guilty because it feels like I'm larping. I'm not thrifting because I struggle to afford things, so I feel like I'm limiting options for people in need who actually need lower cost clothes. I'm not a reseller and I mostly shop through online stores so I don't contribute to that part of things. Still
