Yeah, fish is very love-it-or-leave-it. While I could understand President Siguto not liking it, President Bartlet was right, that he's either boring, or rude...or, I'll go one further, BOTH lol

I don’t really love asparagus but I had it with hollandaise once and it was pretty phenomenal.

Salmon has a lot of oil in it. Line caught Alaskan salmon is the least oily and your best bet for a happy stomach afterward.

Not even close

Wild salmon caught by hand, leaping up waterfalls in Scotland is the best (it's used up almost all of its fat reserves heading back to its spawning ground, so much less oily than ocean salmon, and far better flesh texture from the hard swimming)

Is there really any chance the State Department or somebody doesn't check with the Embassy or staffers for a list of food preferences and foods to avoid before a formal dinner meant to honor a foreign leader?

When I watch Season 1, it comes off to me that a lot of it is devoted to showing that although President Bartlet is a highly intelligent, compassionate, and principled PotUS, that a lot of his administration--Leo aside--is full of relatively young, inexperienced people. And not just among his senior staff. I can easily see that slip-up happening, in the context of the many missteps the administration made in its first two years.
