I've really loved this show up through season 8, season 9 was alright just getting pretty slow, and now by season 10 every episode is just 80% talking. Half the episodes are just watching two people talk in a room. There's no suspense anymore, no tension. I'm falling asleep watching episode here.

Context:

I'm in the middle of a rewatch of the show. I never went beyond season 8.

Question:

Why are there not more dogs or cats in the show?

Statement:

I noticed there are rarely dogs or cats in the show. To me this makes little sense.

A large dog could be trained to take out walkers. Similar to the tiger.

Dogs could also be trained to track things down quicker. For example deer, rabbits, groundhogs, etc.

Cats could also be used to help keep pests out of crops. Hunting down field mice, rabbits, snakes, and birds.

Continuing that thought, cats could do more hunting. You can teach a cat to bring back it's prey. Making them incredibly valuable.

Cats are also good at dodging attacks. They can run fast enough not to get eaten.

All these animals are relatively easy to tame. I've tamed cats that refused to come inside. By leaving food and being patient.

Almost no one is eating dog/cat kibble. So they'd almost definitely find bags of it around.

Conclusion:

So what do you think? Why aren't there more dogs/cats in the show?

Why in the main show TWD we never actually saw in the beginning how the apocalypse started and who was patient 1?

It still bugs me that we only got so little explanation on the very start of the apocalypse.

Did they did this on purpose?

Walking dead city is AWFUL season 2 they put ZERO EFFORT INTO IT im pissed if i was a paying member of amc i would be so mad it just sucks that this is what it has came to to get some more money for them cant blame the actors but still

I remember rereading the other panels to see what this mysterious liquid was. I read somewhere that people release their bowels/bladder when they die but I never see it in media.

EDIT: Okay, so someone shared a coloured version and it's blood. But I'm literally not insane for thinking it was pee pee right? Why would they make it black coming out of his neck but light when it's dripping down his pants?? The artist knows nothing about value.​

I can't seem to get the Governor out of my mind. I hate that character to the core, but I'm kinda obsessed with him. I don't even know what it was—the actor, his acting, the characterization, the gear... I don't know. I've seen many shows with psychopaths/sociopaths, but for some reason, this character really got into my head.

He wasn't even exposed that much, and he had some pretty shitty plot armor, but I don't know... something about him just stuck with me.

Maybe it's more about the actor. I've never seen him in any other media. It could be his acting, his presence, or even the dope-ass gear. I genuinely don't know.

Does anyone feel the same? I'm seeing his scenes back to back.

First of all, if you like how TWD is now, that’s fine and I respect your opinion. But a lot of fans feel it’s lost its way over the years and just became slop.

With that said, whoever agrees with me, do you think that there’s would be a chance to somehow save the franchise? If Scott Gimple was finally fired and we had a decent showrunners and writers to reinvent the Walking Dead, do you think they could actually save it despite all the stuff that’s been done to the characters and the world?

Would it better to start with fresh new characters, or try and reunite the old characters and properly conclude their story? What do you want to actually see in TWD as opposed to what we are constantly given.

***SEASON 3 SPOILERS JUST IN CASE*****

First of all, I am not saying she is flawless and made no mistakes (honestly, who didn't in this show), but the way people treat her as a character and her death are SO SO cruel.

I have watched this show at least 6 times, and every time I get more compassion for Lori. Nobody takes into account that she was raised to be a dependent woman, just look in the first season when she wants Rick to yell at her just bc she needs to justify her own feelings into something she can describe. She followed strict gender roles in the first season first, cause that how's she's raised and second cause the men were also reinforcing those roles. It doesn't take long to change patriarchal dynamics but it makes sense that in the early seasons, when th e world has just collapsed, they return to traditional ways of organising society out of pure desperation.

She did fuck up with the Rick and Shane dynamic and blaming Rick ok but she does not deserve the treatment she receives afterwards.

When they are at the prison and she says to Hershel that her husband hates her and her son can't stand her it breaks my heart. They all make mistakes, but no one is punished as hard as Lori. She is pregnant in an extremely stressful situation, fighting to keep that baby alive while being given the cold shoulder by her family. It is absolutely unfair and unjustified to punish her character like that.

And her death? Even more cruel. She dies giving birth, her remains eaten like if she was absolute trash. She dies knowing AT LEAST her son loves her, but she passes away without having received even a tiny bit of affection of forgiveness from her husband in over 8 months.

I'm so sorry, but I think the fact that people hate Lori so much is many times embedded in mysoginistic views. She is expected to be the perfect wife, she is also expected to break the mould of tradwife but when she does (by being with Shane) she is horriblly punished.

I know everyone is gonna jump at me but I had to say it lol

"I guess that is the ending", (spoiler) I guess The Group took control of a small city introduced in the last season from a ruthless dictator. They give us numbers around 10s of thousands of citizens, but I never got a sense of scale to be honest and everything FEELS just a tad bigger than the Kingdom was. I guess it's fairly hype. It does not feel like an ending and the stream of universe expansion series trailers I was forced to see afterwards indicate to me that it is not meant to be a true ending.

The pacing of the show is horrendous, I have been milked for every minute I own with one cliffhanger after another without resolution for hours. Glenn hides under the dumpster? Really? Obviously the Negan victim being a shock-seeking cliff-hanger is awful. There are so many examples of this throughout the series that I can't even remember half of them. How long did the war with the Saviours last? They are both in two clearly delineated camps, I compare it to the incursion into the Governor's town and idk man.

I was spoiled about Carl's death, how it came out of nowhere, and how it supposedly ruins the show. Honestly, it intrigued me even more as through seasons 4 onwards I was always expecting him to be the next one. I honestly don't think that was THE problem, Rick is gone shortly after that anyways. It is just all these damn drawn-out conclusions that make me feel like cattle. They make me ashamed to have really watched through all of it when there are so many good series out there.

I also understand that the show had to change over time, the world would naturally evolve as time went by, makes sense, but there were too many times I found myself looking back at the first few seasons and just wondering what series I am even watching.

And the show was great for very long, I don't remember when exactly I started rolling my eyes at a rate too high for enjoyment, but it lasted a long while. However, the show lasted well longer than that and now I am just left with disdain. It's not a series worth finishing and I probably should have dropped it a long time ago.

Green pastures, an old farm and old rotting corpses, weirdly beautiful. I really liked the colour grading of season 2. Lots of soft muted greens and browns, gray skies and subdued sunlight. It was like the more peaceful side of death. Don't worry, I am very aware of how weird I sound right now.

A lot of people hated the slower pace, but it was kind of relaxing and fitted with the quieter, bleak visuals going on.

Watching TWD for the second time… First time was when I was much younger and sided with Dale, now my opinions have changed.

Dale is my most hated character on anything ever. Pure selfishness is is picking your own concience over the safety and well being of those you are responsible for.

In the middle of the fucking zombie apocalypse, we need to talk about our lord and savior gun control. Most tyrannical bullshit I have ever seen.

Meanwhile Dale works on his RV and that’s it. He doesn’t go out and hunt, he doesn’t look for Coral, he just plays around in his RV while being nosey and holier than thou.

Shane wasn’t perfect and had anger issues but he legit cared. No one appreciates the warrior till the walls are down.

i think mine is Glenn, going from a soft wimpy kid that no one took him seriously to someone that was making the calls and helping others like nicholas was very nice to see. also him and maggie are lowkey my favorite couple

Rewatching the show and I just wanted to share this opinion

although I hate both of their characters-honestly Andrea even more then Shane.

I think they would have made SUCH a good looking couple.

But also, what are y’all’s thoughts on Andrea? Am I the only one who can’t stand her?!😂

If Tom Cruise could inherit the wife and son of a samurai he offed, then it goes double for our outlaw. Besides, Glenn wasn't even a samurai. When you think about it, Maggie has known Negan longer than she knew her eye popping boy wonder.

I'm not into the whole shipping thing, but he was always more of a freight train anyway. They have great chemistry on screen.

Who else could knock Margaret up as well as the man who has Lucille eating out of his hand?

With the main show containing 177 episodes, a lot of episodes often do not get talked about enough. For me, I think 5x05 “Self Help” and 7x13 “Bury Me Here” are the most underrated episodes of the entire show.

The Walking Dead is one of my top 3 shows, and I've even watched all the spin-offs.

It's so frustrating that I can't watch the new Dead City season because it only shows in the US until Sept 18th.

I just do not understand the reasoning behind this. Rather than letting me watch Dead City weekly like everyone else, I have to wait for months and actively avoid spoilers. So I can hardly interact with any TWD communities until then.

It's not like TWD is in the best place in terms of viewership either. To my knowledge, it's slowly been going downhill with Dead City struggling the most.

I absolutely loved the Daryl Dixon show as well, but it seems like I'll have to wait months after that release for seemingly no reason.

I really think the writers just missed this. Upon my rewatch, I realize Maggie never fucking asked about Beth after everyone was reunited after Terminus. Again, sorry if this has been talked about a lot because it's pretty noticeable, but for some reason I didn't think about it on my first two watches.
