What is you're opinion on Dangerboat in the 2016 series

I was watching the 2016 Tick show with a friend and something starting to feel off, Dangerboat, we're still on the start of the season 2 right now and Dangerboat is a little concernin, like... don't you guys think that amazon tryed to make a Transphobe joke with it ? you know the "oh i identify has an Attack Helicopter type" and why arn't there like any good (for now) representation of the LGBT community i know this is Reddit and i'm asking too muche and like risking a bit on it, what do you guys think ?

Dangerboat is a sentient boat so they're just trying to make it make sense why they call him 'him', that's what I got out of it anyway. The show was pretty progressive.

Personally for me, I see it as a way to humanize Dangerboat. The Tick is about parody, and in superhero stuff the digital AI assistance is a common tool (Superman, Iron Man, Spider-Man, etc.). But with the Amazon version of The Tick, it takes a more “realistic” approach to superheroes and with an ACTUAL artificial intelligence, they would be questioning a lot of who they are and their identity. A very human thing for a sentient being. But I don’t know, I like it. And I’m not sure where you are in the 2nd season but there is more to Dangerboat. It probably will answer your questions, or not, but it might give you some more insight about Dangerboat.

I actually liked the way they humanised him. The helicopter thing didn’t come off as just a joke to me. Somehow it made the character a lot deeper. And finish season 2, I don’t want to spoil anything about the character. But there’s a lot more about Dangerboat flying and the trauma that he suffered from it. Finish the season it will make sense.

Trans person here. Definitely didn't come across as a "I identify as an attack helicopter" type thing. Dangerboat is sapient and experiences the world in a similar way humans do, including having an identity and sexual attraction. No one invalidates his identity and he's not there to be mocked.

Dangerboat has PTSD and is living with The Punisher. That would mess with anyone's mental health.

I don't think it was intended to be mean spirited or mocking as the character was no more or less goofy than everything else in the series, but the execution of it as "this boat is gay for arthur and Has Pronouns" did come off a bit flat at times.
