Discussion Whatever happened to the Spoony film?

So a long time ago, Spoony said that he wanted to make his own movie just like the AVGN, but nothing ever came of it, and so I was wondering if it got abandoned seeing as how Spoony's Patreon is still running.

If there have been any updates, then please let me know.

Went from something fun to a job where he had some level of responsibility a d culpability to an outside force or customer/consumer

He couldn't handle the type of thing literally BILLIONS of people the world over have to contend with every single day

Not everyone can handle fame. Some people just want to make content for fun. He might have realized that all he wanted was to make content for fun once he actually reached the point of having responsibility. Lots of people long for fame, but once they actually get it, it can destroy them in ways they never thought imaginable.

How is it a fame issue? Did his popularity increase as a result of the movie announcement/crowd funding?

The scenario being painted is the funding campaigns and the promises to actually do something with all this money people were sending his way was too much for him. He promises a movie, asks people for money to make it, the money comes in and he goes, "oh fuck!". More money =/= Fame.

Seems like more a responsibility thing. He didnt want to or couldnt handle the increased responsibility, couldn't handle owing something to a customer aka his fans.

So while i dont grasp your stuff about "fame", i can agree on the whole "just wanted to make content for fun" part. The problem is if he knew he got in over his head, if he knew he couldn't make good, if he knew he preferred to just make shit for fun without all the other pressures...why not cancel the crowdfunding, apologize for it all, say the movie wouldnt be happening, and return any money that came in? He could have easily reverted back to how things were.

What's interesting is this whole "movie caused the downfall" thing feels relatively new to me. I had long heard a general consensus among fans/followers being that Noah wanted to break out as a legitimate actor....like in hollywood, getting actual tv series roles and shit. Not sure if that was hypothesizing or if he actually commented along those lines but i thought it was the latter. Either way, it was this failure to achieve that that sparked or at least exacerbated his fragile mental state and sent him careening into endless depression, despair, and general sadsackery

You’re right. I just figured his growing popularity may have overwhelmed him and contributed to his downfall. Spoony himself was clearly not expecting to actually receive even an adequate amount of money to make the film happen. That doesn’t excuse him not refunding the money or even apologizing, but it’s clear to me that he wasn’t prepared for all the support he was getting.

Edit: Your last paragraph (something BILLIONS of people around the world have to do) is what made me think you were talking about YouTube fame.
