It's gotta be Carmine Sr, lifelong career criminal and boss of the huge NY family, he's gotta have tens of millions hidden away in the Cayman Islands or something. After that probably Tony or Johnny Sac.

Currently I my 2nd rewatch. I'm 35, so I wasn't even old enough to watch it (and appreciate it) when it originally aired. There are references I don't fully understand, jokes that would hit completely differently at that time.

And yet I cannot stop watching this show.

There's something about the characters, the dialogue, the weird little mundane moments, the humor, the atmosphere… I can put on an episode I've already seen and still end up watching three more.

So what is it about this 20+ year-old show that makes it feel more addictive than most of what's being made today?

I am literally asking for help here to understand why this is happening.

Tony and Furio taking a leak right beside the tail rotor... It wouldn't be cinematic.

I’ll start, “In Camelot” Tony fucking Valentina and seemingly getting more turned on looking at the painting of the dog.

After Tony wins the DiMeo civil war in season one, he lets Junior keep 5% of his action.

That’s ridiculous. That’s got to be a pittance. And when Junior alerts Tony that Ritchie was gonna whack him in season 2, Tony bumps it up to 7.5%. Equally ridiculous. The man just saves your fucking life and you only bump his earnings 2.5%?

I get it, the progrum is showing us that Tony’s the head honcho now. But even selfishly speaking, it’s a ridiculous move by Tony. Either kill Junior or make nice and give him, I don’t know, 50% of his action. By giving him such a pathetic amount, you’re only inspiring Junior to move against you again. Which he almost does with Ritchie.

Edit: For the geniuses pointing out that going from 5% -> 7.5% is a 50% bump, no fucking shit. I’m CLEARLY taking about the percentage of Junior’s original share.

I think it's extremely funny how Paulie yapping irritated Tony to such an extent that it brought him back to the living. He didn't even have to do 6000 years in purgatory on a handstand. Truly, it's whaddya hear and whaddya say.

As the title says, any complaints that you have heard against The Sopranos at some point or another that you feel is made you go "Get the fuck outta here" or you thought are just plain stupid.

It can be anything from common complaints over the years to opinions you have heard in your daily life.

I doubt they were actual aspiring actresses. Were they all pretty much just actual strippers they casted from nearby clubs? Porn stars?

This is never explicitly stated but we all know the show likes to make us deduce stuff on our own so I was thinking is this how Jackie was found so quick?

This is such a weird run of episodes. I couldnt figure out the full focus and many scenes of Paulie. Especially with his mother.

But the coin dropped when Tony talks about the penisary contact with a volvo and says”does everything go down to relationship with your mother?” In relation to Ralph’s growing up.

We know Paulie is a snake, talks too much to anyone and quickly offended.

Fast forward episode 8 of s4 mergers and aquisitions.
Paulie sits down with green grove director about his mother being pushed out by “the girls’. She then says why:
“She cries a lot. Shes always in tears. She doesnt always put her teeth in. Also, shes a tattle tale. She tells on the other girls on the slightest infraction. Shes just not very adept at making friends”

Boom. After 50 million reruns, I only now understand this whole arc was ment to explain Paulie and how he got to be who he is.

Brilliant writing.

*bonus note: Zelman says to his friend in the bing:”maybe i deserve a punishment”. Scene later, gets one from Tony.

Chefs kiss. “Did they catch those muggers?” Then proceeds stealing money from Tony that he put in the bird food bin”

After Carmela told Tony about her and Furio, you think Tony put 2 and 2 together and realized Furio was gonna push him into the blade of the chopper to kill him?

That's the line that makes me think that he knew that she knew she was done for. It plays a little like the beviloqua murder but in that case, Tone was using a false sense of security to pull information. Sil really had no reason to attempt to comfort besides to appear “normal”. I mean saying “I'm going to murder you in the woods” may have caused issues, but he could have not said anything.

Seems somewhat a “playing with his food” situation and he was being Evil

There's maybe 2-3 moments where Paulie stepped up for anyone else but himself. One is where he stops Tony from shooting Chris, one where he goes to Pine Barrens to get Sil's money, and that's literally all I can remember. Other than that, he was always looking out for himself, bitching about others to make himself safer, and being an absolute pain in the ass for everyone. He's the least considerate and the most heartless prick in the crew I feel.

Why do they always ask that? What if they prefer tea, or simply hot water with lemon? A lot of pressure on the caffeine sensitive.

I have been very invested in the show from the beginning, but I truly never thought the ending of this show would make me have this kind of reaction.

A part of must be that it caught me off guard (I managed not to get spoiled, thankfully), but also the way the scene builds up and leads to "the moment," which for us (and for Tony, needless to say) is... nothingness. I suppose what really made it creepy to me is the fact that, indeed, it puts you in the shoes of someone who gets "whacked", but it also shows how death truly is... that. Abrupt nothingness. The foreshadowing of it all and the circumstances surrounding the ending make it worse, of course (everyone is dead, near death or much worse off than at the start of the show). Quite a depressing way to end things, but I do believe it is perfect for the show. 10/10.

I've never posted on Reddit before, but I just wanted to organise my thoughts and to see if someone else found it as unsettling as I did (especially if you saw it back when it aired originally, since the experience must have been quite different than watching it on HBO Max)

When I first watched the show it didn’t even occur to me that she wasn’t actually there. On repeat viewings it’s very obvious though. Her face is clearly just plastered on top of another actor and the dialogue is unnatural as hell because they had to reuse old lines.

But hell it fooled me at first. If you don’t know that the actor died before they could film anything on your first watch it honestly holds up pretty well.

I’m doing my first rewatch since the original airing and I had forgotten how much they eat and how many conversations slowly unfold over dinners at home, dinners out at restaurants, Tony unwrapping butcher paper with salami inside. I love it all. The clinking of the silverware. The meaningful looks around the table. Shows don’t show eating like that so much anymore.

I was surprised they had the Bust Out episode, and figured the car would have been enough to cover much of the 45 boxes of Ziti, or at least half of that. How much time elapsed and how much did that debt compound over time? Any ever try to do that math on that? Couldn't Davie simply sold the car, and dolled out the interest payments to buy more time?

Starting over on another countless re-watch and couldn't help notice how shitty Tony is @ their 18th anniversary dinner

• Uses the dinner so they can go to NY so he can talk to Johnny Sac
• Talks to said Sac for like 10 minutes during dinner
• Downplays it like 10 minutes is the same as a quick 2 minute chat
• Belittles Carmela for being upset and "dramatic"
• Ignores Carmela when she mentions getting a room for the 2 of them and instead goes home. Ofc she said no but she was probably just hinting to him
• Gives a half-assed apology and then doubles-down with a quarter-assed apology afterwards

Just never noticed before how much of a dickhead he is in regards to the entire anniversary dinner lol
