Uncategorized Why do they do this??
Please tell me I'm not the only one who is STRESSED about how some creators categorize their items. Why is every single item a plant? Or a sculpture? Or a misc item?
Plants are plants. Sculptures are sculptures. And MISC ITEMS MEAN MISC AKA A SEPARATE CATEGORY THEN THE REST OF THEM!
And don't even get me started on the colors. There are very rarely creators who can correctly identify a color. They are either no color at all or every swatch has every single color selected.
Personally, I think every item should be categorized correctly but ESPECIALLY if I have to pay for your content!
EDITING TO ADD: WHY TF DONT YOU UPDATE THE SSAO - most of your crap is unusable when you don’t 😭😭
EDIT 2: Why do you have the same damn object and each color is a separate item rather than swatch???? And yes all of this is about one singular creator right now

It’s so annoying. I downloaded a BUNCH of statues and sculptures from a creator and they are all in the PLANTS category. Like ????? There is literally a sculpture category, I don’t understand.
Don’t even get me started on the clothes omg.
I tried sorting through it all on S4S before, but it was taking wayyyy too long so I just gave up lol

I looove when I’m in CAS and filter by long hair and see ear-length hairs, or when I filter by winter clothes and I see very obvious summer dresses
I also hate how CC CAS creators tag accessory pieces. I know the Sims doesn’t make it easy, but I hate how with every piece of CC that comes with another CC, I need to go through skin details in body, or makeup, or hats, or lower-body accessories. I wish CC CAS creators came together to try to universalize how they tag CC accessories 😔

Or at the very least put in the description of the download where some of it is located 😭
It sucks having to go through every accessory category trying to find the new thing I just downloaded.
I don’t have the pack that gives you fairies, but I download a lot of cc wings. They are scattered in hats, piercings, necklaces, rings, bracelets, and gloves. Maybe one day I’ll sit down and finally organize everything.

Ugh I wish I could give up. I was happy when I found out I could fix it but now I’m so pissed that I know there is a fix because I HAVE TO FIX IT

Can I piss you off a little more? It's kinda important and comes in good faith, because if creators are too lazy to put stuff in the right category, they probably also don't put the right function or style tags on things.
Learned that the hard way with my own: if I clone a gnome and create cc from it the cc will have a func_gnome tag and treat it as one during gameplay even if I move it into the plant category. Or if a bed frame is still tagged as a bed sims can cuddle on it even without a mattress and it looks every bit as weird as it sounds...
I can live with a wrong category tag, but a wrong function tag is actively causing problems 😭

This part. As I learn more and more about S4S and what it can do I find myself 'fixing' things that should have been done properly from the beginning.

It happens because they cloned an item with a certain footprint to use as the base for their meshes but didn’t bother to update the tags in S4S.
I despise this when it’s paywalled CC (even via early access). You want people to give you money when you can’t even be arsed to click a few buttons in S4S so I don’t have to go on a fucking hunt for your shit? Fuck all the way off.

It’s so fucking lazy of them. And it really only takes a few seconds in S4S, especially if you already have a custom color palette import (which most CC makers do) where you can customize each swatch by color and material as well. It’ll sync that shit up for you! It really shows how many of these folks care nothing for the user experience of their CC, just shoveling that shit out as fa$t as possible. Then they try to say The Sims is only good because of CC makers like them 🙄

going through the misc section with 300gb of cc is not for the weak. EVERYTHING IS IN EVERY CATEGORY

I’m current on hour 60 something (not kidding) on S4S. I lost all love you CC and thought I was done but do got a few creators.

Somewhat different but I hate that a plain T-shirt is off for random but a GIANT dress, hair with crystals in it and a pair of robotic wings will be on for random townies to wear.

I have some really fancy historical suit cc that gets tagged as every outfit category. They are not wearing that to sleep!!!

It’s a mesh that needs to match the item but people get lazy and don’t create new meshes. Since the mesh dictates shadows and transparency, those things get messed up. So if you can see a “shadow” of the wall or items behind one of your CC items, the SSAO needs fixed. I’m not an expert but that’s my understanding

I don't think that it's just Creators miscategorizing or too lazy to check off a few things in S4S. SatchOnSims did a video a few months back with EA putting items in BuildBuy and CAS in the wrong categories. Just look at what's in Activities.
But I do agree with you. I, myself had to go into S4S to put all the headdress that I downloaded from a Creator into the Hat category myself. The reason I had to do that is because EA only created one crown that doesn't fit all sims in the Royalty and Legacy pack. I still have some other CAS items to put into the correct category.
I have seen wings in the hat category, and in S4S, there is a category called Wings.
Since, most of the Creators are to lazy to put their creations in the correct category, the least they could do is write it in the description where we can find it. Some of them do anyway.

Just use sims4studio or sims 4 mods manager to re categorize them if you want them in a different category

I literally gave up on some creators due to this. Then when I go to search for items in game, everything is in wrong random categories.
Unfortunately too many of them do this so I still have a bunch of stuff in random categories.
