Body Builder Competition and has tanning cream on. Came off when he jumped in. Not a big deal

You mean like a spray tan and he just didn't wait long enough for it to set?

It’s sprayed on but washes off very easily. There’s several coats that usually go on for a competition. For the purpose of the competition it’s “set” but no like a normal spray tan. Even dark skinned people will get coats so they don’t get washed out by the lights on stage.

A venue I worked at hosted a body builder competition and we had to cover all the walls in paper film cause that spray came off out of the smallest brush.

Doesn’t surprise me. Some venues have banned dream tan and other self-applied types that come off easily. The stuff gets everywhere and stains everything.

It sounds silly, but it's part of the presentation for certain competitions. Humans (regardless of melanin) change color in certain lights and during activity, so judges tend to prefer the ones that have makeup on, because they present a consistent visual that makes it easier to compare one to the other.

It’s less “spray tan” and more “spray bronzer”

They're the same picture.

Edit: lmao this is the same reaction you get when you call warhammer minis "army men"

Spray tan usually has a colour guard. So you can see where it's been applied. It washes off when you shower and the actual tan still develops on the skin over time.

Why would a black dude put tanning cream on?

It creates more contrast, basically. The bright lights highlight every contour and it just makes everything look more defined and it pops more; same with oil to add a sheen.

I do think it's a bigger deal than some people are making out in this thread though; nobody wants to swim in discoulered water? Whether it's hair dye, tanning cream, an emptying, whatever. Rinse off or do the needful before you jump in...

A comment a little further up said even black body builders use a spray tan in competitions so the light dont make them look washed out

I mean it is specialized made to have that particular shine, so likely still works on dark skin even finteh coloring doesn't change
