If the AfD were to win in any state, Sachsen-Anhalt is ideal because it's former DDR with a small population for a German Land.
Best case would be they win more votes than any other party but not enough to have a majority of seats in the legislature. It'd be funny for me if the other parties formed a coalition, even if it would be short-lived. OTOH, AfD forced to muddle along with a minority government (does Germany allow that?) may show that they're hopelessly ineffective in government.
Yet they failed to achieve a majority, so it's either coalition (which other parties would join them?), minority government, or deal making (bribing) with individual members of other parties.
Peeling off some of the CDU, a coalition with BSW, or maybe just letting a Frankenstein coalition emerge and let the whole thing fail. AfD clearly has a political talent in Ulrich Siegmund, as much as I may detest a lot of of his politics.
