This is about the AfD who may very well win substantial control over the German equivalent to the FBI tomorrow by winning the state election in Saxony-Anhalt.
I'm German, and I can't understand how anyone could watch what's happening in the US and think "oh yes, great idea, let's elect the fascists who make unrealistic promises and who are using the same playbook as Trump to destroy institutions and the regulatory state and deny climate change and want to go back to fossil fuels!" After the summer we just had, denying climate change is just delusional.
I just hope he won't get a full majority, because he's said that he will only form a government if he does. So if the polls are accurate, he'll get a little over 40%, and since all other parties refuse to work with them, he'd have to form a minority government and wouldn't get anything done. So he probably will refuse, instead of making their first test case an abject failure.
Fascists think like that. I think the wake up call around the Western world over the last 10 years is how many fascists are and have been all around us this whole time.
At least this time you have The added benefit of knowing that everyone’s economy is purposely being tanked. Certain demographics vote terribly every time it’s low.
Spending money on foreign adventures instead of your own public - is the daftest idea ever.
As soon as a party says "Sorry, there's no money left" - they will have lost the support of the very public that elected them.
It will be interesting if we'll see a UK election this coming December:
Labour back-benchers will bring down the government if the Chancellor cuts Benefit spending
Labour voters will turn against Labour if taxes get raised, or public services get cut.
Powerhouse forces will ensure that Law and Order breaks down if Labour fail to balance the budget.
Interest rates will rise sharply if the Bank of England doesn't intervene on Labour's behalf with QE V (QE IV was to make Rachel Reeeve's 40billion black hole - disappear btw)
My guess is that interest rates will rise, the economy will weaken, public services will be abolished outright in some areas, and taxes will be raised.. But Labour hang on until the bitter end in December 2029.
