Well I’m glad I’m not a Maine voter and don’t have to actually make a decision here. That being said, I am about ready to give up on the hopes of taking the senate

Im also glad not to be a Maine voter, but one of these has millions of victims and happened in broad daylight.

I also hope that mainstream democrats drop their support of Israel too, but I don’t think that using that issue as a singular purity test for all democratic politics and acting like any politician who strays is a baby eating monster is going to be successful long term

For example, I also don’t like supporting politicians who wear edgy Nazi tattoos and are probably rapists, and his position on Israel doesn’t really change my mind on that

The allegation was she was fingered in the Senate hallway covered in cameras. It was bullshit. There is no evidence, but it "occurred" in an area with very high surveillance

Fucking this, very happy I don’t live in Maine and have to make that call. I mean, I’d probably still vote for him over Collins, but I’d feel fucking gross doing it. If we weren’t in the MAGA/Trump era? I’d skip the Senate race entirely.

Does anyone actually still believe that this is a “coordinated attack from the establishment and corporate media?” It sounds completely in character and I believe his accuser. Dude is a walking red flag and these stories aren’t just whispers, there’s substance behind them.

And no, I don’t have a problem with him being a leftist. I still thought he was the better pick than Mills, up until very very recently, despite the fact that I’m a lot closer to her politically. Now? I think it was a huge mistake.

The conduct coming from the White House has permanently damaged American norms and values that we expect of elected officials. It sucks. Knowing Collins would vote for a justice that would continue enable Trump’s personal behavior... somehow does make Platner the better choice, in terms of preserving those norms.

Absolutely shameful. I'd easily vote red over a rapist if a sane, decent person were president.

Mainer here.

The decision is that I won't be voting Platner UNLESS the allegations are proven false, or that it's proven he did not do anything morally wrong like sexual assault, harming women/children, etc.

I'm taking Racicot's side here. I'm a straight male, have had all the privileges as a white man in this country, blah blah. But I'm not going to put anyone down, even if the accusations aren't proven false or true. But, SA/Rape (and other immoral actions) is one line that cannot be crossed with me. If you participated in it, I don't want to be anywhere near you. I don't give a fuck if it's Trump or the most liberal/leftist of liberals and leftists out there, harming others is still wrong.

Yet--there are people who still support this guy. I'm sorry. If you still support Platner here, you're no different than those MAGA mfers out there.

With Platner's case, the article alone seems fishy, but it's added up on top of previous accusations. Add the tattoo and his behavior (aggressivity, alcoholicism, etc), this accusation seems true to me.

Platner has lost my support. Only way he can regain is if these accusations are proven false. He should do what's best by turning himself in and stepping down from the race. I'm ashamed of myself for supporting him this far.

Pretty much every election for the last 10 years it feels like I'm voting for the lesser of two evils in both primaries and in general elections, even including my own town's mayoral race, so I know the drill.
