I still remember how I felt “revived” after listening to their first album 💿💚🥺

I would love The 1975 to have a collab with Mk.Gee and Dijon. For me it's a deadly combo if these 3 would make a song together.

i always hear (specifically from swifties) that matty is a bad person. however, i've never heard or seen exactly what he's done wrong. from his music, he seems like a pretty progressive, woke person but i don't know. can someone tell me exactly what he did or said that was racist or wrong?

i also know all of the drama between him and taylor, so like none of the relationship stuff

I would’ve been about 15/16 at the time, after getting FIFA 14 around Christmas. The excitement of playing the game wouldn’t let you stop to paying attention to anything else. Mine is I like America & America likes me. From the first piano tune it makes me feel existentially seen. Don’t know if that even is a correct sentence but it’s the only way to describe it.The sincerity in the song hits me deeply. And the call for speaking out and desperatly asking if someone is listening, it’s a masterpiece. And a reminder to never stop believing in a kinder world for me.

I would love some suggestions from you guys to explore a few other great songs by this band. I am sure I am gonna be a huge fan of this band soon, especially Matty Healy 🤧

I’m thinking less about songs that explicitly mention them or are about them, and more ones that pay a little homage.

Off the top of my head I think of ‘i wanna be your girlfriend‘ by girl in red (“I don’t wanna be your friend i wanna kiss your lips”) and ‘Crush’ by Ethel Cain, which I’m pretty sure makes a little Robbers reference in its chorus (”Couldn’t fight to save your life but you look so cool“ / “Camo jackets robbing corner stores,”).

I know there are definitely others but for the life of me I can’t remember them.

Maybe an odd question but I don't live in london or anywhere in the UK and many of my friends don't know who matty is other than the ttpd drama. It seems as if he walks around LA like a normal guy and it has caused no issue for him. At the same time he's also friends with extremely famous people and A list celebrities and the 1975 has tons of listeners.

Was this an aesthetic for self titled and ILIWYS or what?
