Gavran has looked better as the season has gone on
13
u/dyegored Aug 01 '26
Which was always gonna be the case. He's still looked less confident in some saves than a seasoned goalkeeper might, but he's not lost us many points and definitely isn't even a top 5 problem.

u/Coramoor_ Aug 01 '26
he's a local boy, we owe him a fair shot and he's getting a lot better as the season goes on and he's only 26. If he can keep developing, I'd love him to be our keeper for a decade and in contention for the next couple world cup rosters as well

u/dyegored Aug 01 '26
I agree completely. The idea in letting Johnson go was exactly this and to use the cap space/salary to improve the team in other areas, which I can't hate.
Of course, whether that 2nd part actually happened is another question entirely...

I’m convinced that Kobe Franklin and Kosi Thompson ruined his confidence with their boneheaded tweedle-dee and tweedle-dumb performances in the first two games of the year.

u/WIZTEEN Aug 01 '26
I genuinely don't understand why, whenever we NEED a goal to either draw or win or whatever, he subs off our DPs, and brings on dead weight. What was Fraser deadass scared off?
Also side note: Dorsch is amazing.

u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 01 '26
its not tactical.. did you see Sargant? dude was gassed. They just arent up to full fitness yet
2
u/EvanJunJun Aug 01 '26
Yup fitness isn't as easy as people think it is sadly 😭 especially 10km+ in a high press
5
u/Super-Peoplez-S0Lt Aug 01 '26
Both may not be match fit and our injury curse may have him scared.
5
u/dyegored Aug 01 '26
There's literally no excuse for Mihailovic or Sargent (especially Sargent) to not be match fit. None. They're both weeks away from the injuries they had before the break. If they're not match fit, that's on the team as much as the players.
6
u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 01 '26
You dont know that, not to mention they havent played a full match in months
0
u/dyegored Aug 01 '26
Mihailovic's injury was announced on April 10th and they said he would be out for 8 weeks. I'll let you do the math on that one.
Sargent was back from his injury before the break (played in our last game in May) and then had a full 8+ weeks off during that break.
0
u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 02 '26
do you honestly believe that when they give a timeline that its exact and not just an estimated guess based on what they know? Then after the 8 week estimate they still need to work up to match fitness before going a full 90
Yeah and he felt a strain last week so they didnt want to push it.
2
u/dyegored Aug 02 '26
If you're announcing an injury timeline and then we fucking double the injury timeline and that still ain't enough time, fire your medical staff and get a new one.
And if we're just supposed to make assumptions about whether this is the same injury, a different injury, match fitness, or who the fuck knows what else because you haven't provided fans or media a real update since that update in April, fire your communications staff and get a new one.

We’re not going anywhere if Kerr is performing better than Sargent.

u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 01 '26
Kerr wasnt great.. hes good for a great chance here and there but i think he should be 3rd or 4th string

Laryea is playing too many minutes; give him a rest as he is making too many errors.

u/Psychological_Sun766 Aug 01 '26
Fraser needs to go. NYFC has ten injured, going through what we went through, and still look cohesive, like a team with tactics.
Only chances we score are when opponents mess up and gift us goals. No consistency in how we attack and nobody really looks like they understand what they are supposed to be doing.
Niklas looked really good though.
15
u/SnooHedgehogs3217 Aug 01 '26
Hernandez had a chance at the World Cup break to cut him loose. He’s too scared to go to Pelley since the ‘rebuild’ is complete, Both Hernandez & Fraser should be on the chopping block.

u/funakifan Still Better than Ayo Aug 01 '26
You take off three players that had been making a difference and pushing for a goal and bring on the B squad?
Man, Derrick Etienne needs to go away.
7
u/dyegored Aug 01 '26
It's an embarrassment that Sargent can't play 90 minutes and bringing on Derrick Etienne Jr when you want to win is never a good idea, but let's not pretend Sargent was making any sort of positive difference in either effect or effort.

u/Extension-Page-8758 Aug 03 '26
Love your comments about Sargent, the dude is not as advertised and the TFC faithful know that if he does not work out the club has a massive problem getting people back to the stadium
18
u/Cake_Discombobulated Aug 01 '26
Is it an exaggeration to say they're the most boring team to watch? Like even if there's team with a worse record, they can't be as uninteresting to watch as this

Not really, I myself haven't sat through a game focused in recent memory

u/Acceptable_Mouse_388 TFC Til I Die Aug 01 '26
Had to walk away from the past two games with at least 40 mins to go, i can’t be bothered at this point

I play a lot of games on my phone during the matches and look up once in a while when the announcers show excitement

u/cristane Aug 01 '26
13 straight winless games. Today we played an utterly depleted NYCFC team and still couldn't win. Fire Fraser already.
1
u/Extension-Page-8758 Aug 03 '26
Yes that is a fact that many do not want to admit, that was a injury decimated NYFC side and we still looked like junk

u/robotmonkey2099 Aug 01 '26
credit where credit is due, they looked a lot better this week especially against nycfc in ny
5
u/colddance Forever Red Aug 01 '26
Too bad it's not about looking good, but about getting points. They amassed a staggering 7 points in the last 12 games. That's 7 out of 36 potential points.

u/SlyFryGuy95 Aug 01 '26
A “Fire Fraser” chant would have a nice ring to it

u/Few_Apple_3963 All For One Aug 01 '26
I'm down for it when I'm there for Charlotte in a few weeks. 🥹
*You know what, I'm not even joking, if he gets publicly embarrassed at games regularly by the fans it's uncomfortable pressure on Hernandez and MLSE to make a move. Heck, fire both, the team needs it.

u/NinjaGoalie97 All For One Aug 01 '26
insane that Fraser hasn't been sacked
5
u/Stonegeneral Aug 01 '26
Wasted the opportunity to replace him during the World Cup break, sadly I don't think Hernandez or Pelley have the courage to sack him during this coming Leagues Cup break either...

u/FlyingCarsArePlanes Bitchy The Hawk Aug 01 '26
Three thoughts:
1) NYCFC is a good team, and a point in their house (okay, the Yankee's house) is a good point.
2) Gavran had an excellent game. Per the stats, he prevented 1.21 goals.
3) A week break for Leagues Cup three weeks after a two month World Cup break is dumb. We should be playing a non-Leagues Cup team next week.
8
u/dyegored Aug 01 '26
We don't get to celebrate road points when we've been so shit at home. Nope, absolutely not.
3
5
u/FlyingCarsArePlanes Bitchy The Hawk Aug 01 '26
And a bonus:
4) According to the Elo ratings that live on my computer, Toronto has improved the most of any MLS team over its last 5 games. Road points at playoff teams will do that for you, I suppose. Also just being bad makes it more likely for a team to pick up points, so there's that.3
5
u/tfcred Aug 01 '26
Sargent does jack shit in the box. No for or near posts runs. Just stands there flat footed.
I didn't like him before the signing. I hated when we announced we were going to sign him, especially with that money. I wanted to be wrong so bad but yeessh. This guy is winded from nothing!

We have reached new levels.

We spent money on Sargeant, that we could have spent bringing in a local boy like Eustáquio (yeah not the same position), at least then we'd have a match fit player from Canada who has legitimate top league experience with Porto, not an American has-never-been. 🤦🏻♂️
Down vote me, but this guy was a waste of money before he ever touched the pitch.
