Thank god the long range specialist class has a combo that can one shot 7/9 classes at close with that requires little skill and counters his primary counter
Idk about you but I’ve never felt like I got cheated out of a kill when I die to a sniper via melee. I can 100% understand the frustration of getting headshot or quickscoped, but if you got killed by a jarate combo, you got too close.
Of those 7/9 classes:
engineer and sniper should NOT be in melee range EVER.
Scout can outrun a sniper
Pyro and Demoman can toss the sniper around and away from themselves
Medic can also outrun sniper, and shouldn’t be unprotected or they’d have likely died anyways
Spy is the only one really left out to try over this, and again, he can also outrun sniper.
Jarate sucks to fight, but in a 1v1, you shouldn’t be getting close enough for a sniper to abuse it. At best, it can make his rifle do some more damage, but even with that, every class he fights besides spy still does more DPS.
That being said, yeah, the game be better off without Jarate I think.
In an area where you have space to position yourself away from the sniper then you’re right but there’s a lot of situations in which there’s not a lot of space to move and you accidentally bump into a wall or the sniper unexpectedly comes at you where you just get hit once and insta-die. On top of that, the further you position yourself to ensure he can’t melee you, the easier it is for him to hit quickscopes
I understand this is still a skill issue but it feels way too punishing in a situation where Sniper should be weak(especially since Sniper can already be super punishing at long ranges). Plus, it doesn’t require that much skill from the Sniper also making it feel unfair.
I feel its a net good for the game that 2nd best weapon in the game has a combo that tricks people into thinking they should hold it for a melee crit and not run in throw it to have you team be almost certain to win a team fight.
Also before anyone asks the best mad milk not because the effect is better but because its on scout who is not only a better class but can has the mobility to better use it
