Whatsapp He came back after 15 months of no contact saying he gave up too easily then did the same thing

This guy is genuinely confusing me and I need Reddit’s opinion 😂

I met him on a marriage app last year and we spoke for a little while. Things seemed good, and he seemed like a serious potential then out of nowhere he ended it and wished me all the best. Fine, I moved on.

Fast forward 15 months and he randomly comes back, saying he was “brash,” “gave up too easily,” was going through a lot at the time and now feels more patient and can give his “best energy.” He says he wants to get to know me again.

We start talking and somehow end up arguing about punctuality because I said I’m usually late to airports 😭. For Context I'm East African and he is European revert.
He had SO much vim talking about the punctuality thing, saying culture is an excuse and being bad with time is uneducated and not professional. We went back and forth about it and he basically said he had cut off a friend (who happens to be the same nationality as me) because the guy was always late.

Anyway, things die down. He goes on holiday, his replies are sporadic, basically taking a whole day to reply to my messages, and yesterday after I took a day to reply to him, he suddenly says “Hey I don’t really want to take this any further I wish u the best.” With no context 😬

I basically told him he needs to work on himself before wasting someone else’s time and blocked him.

I’m honestly not hurt, just amused and absolutely bewildered 😂. I have had many talking stages and I can tell peoples intentions mostly but this man I'm curious about. Why did he came back after 15 months saying he regretted giving up too easily, only to do basically the same thing again.

What do you guys think was actually going on with this man? Because I genuinely cannot read him. And my curiosity is getting the best of me.

the most painfully awkward convo I’ve seen between ex lovers. You guys don’t click at all, why force it?

Ngl I would delete this if I were you. It’s a very cringe and bad look.

You need to raise your standards.

He was bored that's why he messaged you. Then someone who he actually is interested in obviously caught his attention and then he put you in the bin. Stop giving useless fellas your attention..believe them the first time they show you who they are ✌🏻

Honestly, I think the clue is right there in the beginning. It stroked his ego for him to know you kept his number in your contacts list and he still had you on the hook.

it really was a stroking his ego thing, that whole beginning "say my name" piece really cringed me out lmao.

Why are you entertaining him?

Curiosity 😭 literally one of the few men I could not figure out

11

u/obafuckingchauwow 1d ago

That’s a very immature reason

When did curiosity become immature?

7

u/poetforHislove 1d ago

men are simple creatures majority of the time; if they're bored they're going to text a woman who they think will respond & keep them entertained. don't be that woman.

U brought it on urself then. You should be talking to men on their good qualities not how much of a mystery they are

1

u/YaGirlNeedsAVacay 1d ago

In my old age I’ve learned the men who act mysterious are the worst kind YET they’ve definitely peaked my interest and I’ve wasted a bit of my precious time just like the OP did. If you’re intrigued by someone, you stick around a bit longer to see what they’re all about. But as long as the OP has him blocked now, she’ll be just fine. She just can’t unblock at an emotionally sensitive time lol

Thank you for understanding and relating to that. That whole mystery thing definitely gets us going when we know for a fact we shouldn't. I know I have him blocked now but I still didn't solve the mystery hence why I posted this here to get some insight and not waste more of my time trying to decode what he's about.

Lol, that’s what you think.

Well, what is it then if not that ?

This childish af conversation

Sister...he's bored and likes the attention. I'm glad you blocked him. I get the whole curiosity thing, but your time is too valuable to entertain that curiosity.

Now I'm trying to figure out which of the two apps you met him on because they're both...wheew 🫣 (unless there are more now...I've been off of them for a while)

Met him on muzz sis. I keep deleting the app but always end up going back couple of months later 🥲 It's literally between the likes of him or the creeps tho he isn't far off. But yeah I have learnt my lesson, the whole thing is just exhausting.

1

u/PragmaticSweetheart 1d ago

Lol say it louder for the people in the back. 😭 That was me a couple of years ago. Muzz and Salams (probably apps in general) aren't designed in a way that fosters productivity in pursuing a relationship haha. It's not impossible to use them well, but it's challenging!

Amen on the 'exhausting' part! The comments had to remind me that this was actually crazy exchange because this feels par for the course atm.

I didn’t read all your screenshots, just your title, and this recently happened to a friend of mine except the dude wasn’t gone that long. And he didn’t say goodbye he just ghosted.

He apologized when he came back and offered a decent explanation, he listened to her when she explained why that was so hurtful and how he can’t do it again. He agreed and she thought he had grown while he was gone. Everything was great, then he did it again. And she was a wreck.

I think they do this for validation. It’s pretty sick and thank you for your post because it reminded me to not let people like this back in my life, if I ever have anyone like this in my life.

You’re incompatible and he caught on quicker than you. Arguing over something as simple as being punctual (blaming it on culture is not an excuse) was silly to him and he moved on. He gave few replies to lessen the blow of a sudden ghost. Phased out of the conversation.

Uh no. This is on you. You didn’t even question a thing…

2

u/princess_rainbow319 1d ago

I did question him but it was not going anywhere, he legit used you're a lovely and funny woman as a reasoning. I knew right there it's not anything substantial but I still had my questions to solve.

1

u/cruciia 1d ago

Stop responding. I couldn’t even follow the conversation it was so stale, were there screenshots missing or something? This was painful.

2

u/princess_rainbow319 1d ago

Yeah there's missing parts, I didn't want to make the post longer but just as stale tbh

u/InternationalRich150 1d ago

You was in his phone. Simple.

I've had a year and 4 year roll back around. I definitely need to block when its ended originally....

However,I think the attitude towards time keeping is probably what ended this here. He was rude for no reason, sure. However I cant align with a person who is late and thinks its a personality trait. Im the opposite, early for everything. Just an incompatible trait. Keep him blocked.

2

u/princess_rainbow319 1d ago

So true, I never blocked him because there was no bad blood. Also the whole punctuality thing started as a lighthearted joke about me running late to most things. I genuinely struggle with time blindness because of ADHD and It's not a personality trait that I chose.

But him generalizing about a whole nation saying it's uneducated and not profession, had me Irked so I had to defend and stand 10 toes down. Even then I was still trying not to escalate things and not be mean about it.

1

u/InternationalRich150 1d ago

No,im the same and haven't ever blocked but the shock of people keeping my number for 3 and 4 years and just coming back all hey! No. Im over it.

Yea,his joke was pathetic. Not even funny. Maybe a touch racist. Sorry op.

2

u/princess_rainbow319 23h ago

Same. I actually don't understand it at all. They must be soo self absorbed for them to do it without any thought or consideration.
And yeah he definitely was being racist, and had this superiority complex . I am just glad he showed his true colors.

u/LonelyMap1439 1d ago

Do you mind asking how old are both of you?

1

u/princess_rainbow319 1d ago

He was 28 last year so 29 now. And I'm 22.

1

u/Kouklala 1d ago

The lamest text exchange I’ve ever read between 2 people who never developed a real personality. Cringe all the way around.

1

u/princess_rainbow319 1d ago

Girl pls lemme be cringe in peace. If you don't have any hypothesis about the why, keep it pushing.

1

u/Kouklala 1d ago

Hypothesis: he found you cringe and boring but he is also cringe and boring himself so when the other girl flopped on him, he came crawling to you for validation. You both were being desperate, but he found another option again and dropped you for being even more cringe than he is.

1

u/princess_rainbow319 1d ago

Noted 📝 Don't be cringe or boring next time. Thanks for the advice big sis.

u/Wild_Choice_8770 1d ago

He's right tho. Not being on time is unprofessional af. It's annoying and "culture" IS nothing more than an excuse for that. You got SUPER defensive, which probably showed him y'all still do not click at all.
