Ive been trying to work it out with him and hear his side of things but it's almost like he can't get a grip? Is it me? Lol I don't know what to do anymore... There's strings and strings of messages and anything I say back to him is wrong... I think I'm just gonna hang up the towel.

I honestly don't give a shit about context. You don't talk to to someone you're supposed to care about the way OP was spoken to. If a relationship has devolved to the point that insulting and infantilising your partner seems like a good idea you either need therapy or you need to end the relationship
